  1. Haven’t a clue about the parts but I would say make a concerted effort to source them elsewhere as I’m pretty sure buying the parts from DCA your going to get bent over the table pounded from behind and no one will even have the good manners to give you a reach around !😳

  2. Lol, I remember the first time I saw a serpa drop leg, safe zone at Ft Amherst, thought "WOW, that's a good way to carry your pistol, such a quick draw" 😳 A month later I had one, 5 minutes in to the game I thought "ffs, every time I run its like I've got a small child hanging on my leg & trying to pull me the other way" lol💩

  3. Well. It's been eventful! R4 is dead. Tappet snapped and they appear to be held by unicorns as they're quite difficult to find... The boy now has an m4 variant (340ft/s out if the box!) and the honey badger now at 351ft/s. Yay! Took him and two of his mates yesterday to apocalypse airsoft in Maidstone and I think they now have the bug too!! Boy had a bit of a moment when the smoke he was pulling got caught on his glove and burned his finger but they sorted him out and he's still as enthusiastic as ever! I may have inadvertently purchased an m58b shotgun while I was there too, you know, "just for emergencies"... 😉😁

  6. Haha, I was in a small village over near Charlbury/Burford so quite a difference. The prison certainly looks great from what I've been able to see and I can get there easily by bus so double good. I better get shopping then!

  8. A brutal, hot humid day down the bunkers. I though I had escaped unscathed(not easy to say after two ciders lol) but on removing my ubacs my left arm is a mass of welts and bruises the colours of which picasso would have loved to have used. I never felt it🤔 My stepson and me were graced with the presence of @Speedbird_666for his first( and probably last)visit to the site.He was more intune with the layout within 2 hours than I am after 6 years!! So I wasn't much help to him. But he played a great game. Smashing bloke to talk to and good player. Thanks for coming👍 all in all a good day. I'm battered and shattered 🤕😴 regards

    Hello from Cheltenham

Hello hello, funny you should call Cheltenham the big city, I moved from Essex to Cheltenham thinking that was in the sticks haha! Been to UCAP prison for my first game and it was awesome, very ruthless and high energy, but it’s defo a good experience! Get some gear and come along to some games, my estate boot hasn’t been filled with airsoft gear for a while.

  10. Just done a full game day in this rig and it's bloody SUPERB. Comfortable from start to finish. No rubbing or chafing. Only complaint is that it can be a bit tricky getting mags back in the pouches when you've got it on, but that's why I have a dump pouch. Going to sell off all my other rigs and try and track one down in black (or dye a green one).

Plastic hop has no issues. I picked up one of the fancy CNC ones and used it for a while and it didn't do anything better than the plastic one was doing. So no stick to the original one.

Aug's are funny guns to work on. You have to love them a little bit to want to do upgrades as the base guns are so cheap that upgrading can very easily overrun the cost of the gun itself. And you will see no return in second hand price based on upgrades. A £130 base gun second hand is like £90. Even upgraded and singing you'd be only looking at £130ish and that could be with £100+ in upgrades. So don't for one minute think you are adding value to the gun. I'd keep it at 350fps, and concentrate on making it accurate and consistent. With that in mind you should be able to get above average range without needing to limit yourself to single shot only. Barrel wise the ZCI are a decent brand to look at. AK2M4 have them for a good price. Typically an AUG is a 509mm barrel, but since yours is second hand I would advise measuring it. I like the Prometheus purple, and G&G green hop rubbers. I've not had any issues with them in AUGS. You can normally find them for under £10. The gun will also need a chrono doing. If it is under power then a new spring is needed. And with that comes a whole heap of costs. Upgrading the gearbox. That depends on you. At the most basic level, If the gun needs a new spring the gearbox will need to be opened in 90% of augs (you may be very lucky and have a quick change spring guide and gearbox). If you do need to open the gearbox to do this a basic service should also be done - Grease, Shims, Spring, and O-ring. All cheap parts... But since you already have it open the temptation to add upgrades can be hard to ignore. Personally I have tried high speed motors on 18:1 gears, High torque motors on 13:1 gears, and the SHS bore up kits. From that I would say the 13:1 high torque build is best. It's quieter with less trigger delay. And works very well with a 7.4v lipo setup. Gears £18, Motor £50, Bushings £5, Heads £15, Spring guide £10, spring £5 - So defiantly not the cheap option as you can almost buy another AUG for the money! If you are cheap just put a high speed motor in. Again I would advise 7.4v. £40 for a Short high speed motor, it's a drop in part and easy to do. Bore up kits are almost worthless. The old element silent V3 cylinder head and piston head set on a non ported thick walled brass cylinder is more than enough, the set is about £15. Match it with a solid spring guide and some bushings and that's most of the gearbox parts sorted. If the gearbox is working fine I wouldn't even bother to do this until it breaks. Air seal nozzles can be an absolute pain in the ass as well. I've used the ASG ultimate aug one without any problems, but others can and do have issues with length, that can cause air seal issues. A mosfet may also be wanted, If running 7.4v you can sort of get away without one, but if you are running 11.1 I would want one to protect the contacts. So back to a basic gun setup- ZCI barrel , Hop rubber, - Chrono. If under power - Spring and service. Upgrades if you want to go mental but not essential. For batteries I use 7.4v 2200mah block type batteries. You can find cheaper in other places, but I have always had these 2 brands. These will fit, You may have to slightly modify the gearbox plate to remove the plastic nub at the bottom of it. These only charge at 1C (2.2amps) so a charge will always take 1 hour. https://www.componentshop.co.uk/7-4v-2200mah-30c-continuous-discharge-airsoft-lipo-battery.html These will also fit and are slightly more expensive but can take a much faster charge if you have a decent enough charger to deal with them. https://www.componentshop.co.uk/7-4v-2200mah-35c-70c-lipo-battery-giant-power.html Both batteries need a decent charger.

  15. And sold. Was looking for a belt as I never run a pistol but now fancy that and a extra MWS mag on the hips. I couldn’t decide between AXL / FERRO and they’re rarely in stock for my size.

  16. Having tried a fair few, I picked up one of the Flimmuur/Brit Tac options recently and I think it's possibly the best one on the planet yet it's in the lower end of the pricey options. The Tegris/Tegris-type options are the way of the future and it's a real unicorn that such a product is actually made and easily obtainable in the UK, with more regular stock than Tactical-Kit can bring in r.e. American products.

    What have you made?

I made an elastic loop to go around my rail at the receiver end to stop the sling hardware trashing it and clanking like a bag of spanners as I move around 😂 50mm elastic and 2mins with a sewing machine 👍

  18. The Mp5 Lego set grows the rear stock adaptor whilst being very well made and looking very nice is a very poor & loose fit despite being advertised for the MP5 NGRS , so this is going to need some looking at or binning off , which is a shame

  21. I do wish there was more mil/filmsims in the Democratic People's Republic of Caledonia, as I agree that themed is far more rewarding than random skirmish days. Doing half a day's travel (there and back) to get to events Doon Sooth is a bit too much of a gamble for me though.

  22. Amazing game again at Diggers Namsoft themed game in Kent. A little down on numbers perhaps this year and a small decline in green machine players. A shame that work and weddings seem to clash with the important things in life! Anyhow, arrived on Friday feeling wiped out due to lack of sleep, but soon felt good relaxing with mates old and new. |Met a few new faces at their first game. I did wonder if a whole weekend of airsoft would stagger them but they were young and full of vim as they used to say. Bloody good relaxed night around the campfire was a good way to start a game weekend I think. Day one and each of three Aussie squads were put together. Each was given a particular mission. Ours was to patrol an area and search for VC. This was a win on their part as we never found them and they completed their objectives. We did keep busy and tbh, we needed the time to get into the swing of things. A shake up run was important to get people into roles within the group. It took a few minutes to get us all in order of march and to work out who was best point or tail end Charlie. The odd firefight with rapidly disappearing foes kept us alert to say the least. After three quarters of an hour, we were rushing out to fights on the Land Rover, being RPG’d, ambushed, and counter ambushing. It was spectacular fun and pretty exhilarating. The vehicles and array of weapons was excellent. I realised that I had a good kill to death ratio at one point, only to get marmalised for the next few fights. The afternoon was started with sounds of rockets and large flames as a simulated plane downing took place. Now we had a race to the crash site with the VC arriving first and putting up stiff resistance as they withdrew with both black box and pilot. Won the battle but lost the fight… A break for evening meal, and we were back in base at 7 o clock. As darkness fell, we had been frustrated by countless /VC sqauds appearing and having to be chased and (occasionally) engaged. The whole damn lot of them then attacked. Seriously, the night games at this event and Arclight have been the absolute best I’ve ever played. Really pulse pounding stuff and only luck denied the VC victory. A couple of grenades a few feet further and they would have overrun us easily. As it was I was not taken out until someone jumped atop the bunker I manned. Not sure if they did get my shirt sleeve with their pistol, but the audacity and speed that they showed were impressive and I took the hit whatever, sat back and watched the fight unfold as best I could. The landmines hidden at the base entrance gave couple of players a loud surprise. Another night under canvas and one of the best things about airsoft was evident. I had a few beers with a chap I would never have normally met, but which revealed a similar life in similar family and work circumstances a mere continent away; eye opening stuff and another face to add to the people to have a beer with. Swapping home cooked food was good too. Went to bed full of single malt, aged brandy, fine cigars and top notch grub various corners of the world. Sunday was a raid on the VC camp to retrieve both box and pilot. A most intense firefight that lasted almost two hours left us exhausted and hot but victorious. It also left us embarrassed as several people had left and the VC were only about a third of our number… I’ll resist the temptation to bang on any more. I had a seriously good weekend again, with top notch players, no no hit calling, arguments or any other unwelcome bollox. A full twelve hours or so full on airsoft with vehicles, fireworks, mines, RPGs, a tight rule set and good playing standards, and had good time after game pigging out with friends. Top quality and I can’t wait until the June game at Eversley. I prefer a top quality game weekend once a month with the odd day skirmish to the fortnightly skirmish that I did for years. More sites, better playing standards and a great social.

  23. Red Alert again yesterday, with @Sneaky Great sportsmanship all day, and really excellent hit taking all round. Was chatting to the staff afterwards and I commented on this, and they confirmed there had been one complaint throughout the day, and that was a bout a rental kid who didn't know hand shots counted (Really mate?) And the vein in my head was about ready to pop from running around in the heat.

    Aug Gearbox Moves!

Your barrel is wrong then. Let me guess you've shimmed the barrel so it's locked in place, or the hop unit doesn't move freely on the sping system (or all the way back). Do not shim the gearbox you'll crack the magwell plate. I'll add more to this later but I have to go to work now. For the minute just look at the hop, and the plastic parts that connect the hop to the inner and outer barrel. Either a retention screw is touching the inner barrel, or you've shimmed the barrel and it can't move. It's the movement of the hop that locks the gearbox in place. You may have also put the brass ring in the wrong place when you built the hop, so it's not allowing the hop/barrel assembly full movement. Edit time Right that's a lonex style hop unit, I used it for the image simply because it's not all black, the plastic Black one you have should be identical. First thing to do is check you have all the parts. The gearbox spacer is vital, It locks on in a pretty loose fashion and if lost then the gearbox will not engage the hop correctly. This part fits on the hop after the hop adjust dial and just sits on 2 prongs and locks with a 90degree twist. New hop units usually ship with this part so if lost it's less than £5 for a complete new hop unit. You should also have a brass ring that is not in the image. People more often than not will put the ring into Position A. This means you have less space for the screws that hold the hop assembly into the outer barrel. Often if built with the ring in position A you will find the hop will not move on the spring, The screw slot is what holds the barrel and hop in place not the screw touching the barrel. It's a common mistake. The 2 screws that hold the hop should not touch the barrel at all, and should allow the hop unit to move in and out just on the spring pressure. Personally I cut my Hop rubbers down a little and put the Brass ring into position B. This gives a little more space for the Screw slot screws. And doesn't affect the hop performance if you are careful with the cutting of the rubber. You will need something thin and moderately flexible to get the ring into the hop A little gentle poking about and it should sit just nice. Make sure the ring is fully hidden so it doesn't upset the C-Clip. The C-Clip should sit flat in the Hop unit. Badly fitted rubbers will cause this to be very hard to get in position or even try to pop out a little. If this is happening it's your choice of rubber causing the issue, or you have trapped the rubber lips. If it's not sitting flush then this will also stop the hop assembly moving correctly and cause problems with the gearbox. With the hop build right, The unit moving correctly, and the spacer in place you should find the gearbox is pushed back correctly. As it's the spring at the front of the hop unit that provides the pressure to keep the gearbox in place, and provides the pressure to keep the take down pin in the middle of the AUG tight. When you assemble the upper to the lower you should be able to feel the hop touch the gearbox, then have to push a little to make everything seat. If the AUG just slots together with no pressure then you can guarantee the hop unit is what's causing the problem. Hope this helps

  26. 21h event this weekend. It was supposed to be rather easy, basically no elevation and not too many kilometres to hike, turned out to be hell on earth. 35° temperature, not a single cloud and stupid high humidity levels meant I got a sunstroke and had to stop after about 6 hours and roughly 20 kilometres done. Another teammate had developed huge blisters on his feet so we slowly hiked another 3km back to the safe zone. Teammate was done and I thought I was too so I packed my bag and tried to plan for the remaining of the time (communicate with the rest of my team and see how I could help them). Night comes and the rest of the team gets back to the SZ to resupply, have dinner and head out for the night phase, at this point another teammate had some issues (horrible rash on his head and forearms, we thought it was an allergy but instead it was a chemical, more on that later) so I joined back in his place. Night phase was okay, we split in two and my group (2 people) had to recon two spots, so we headed out into the woods where we had to sneak past a well lit objective because we took a shortcut. The other group (2 people) set off for a couple of sabotage objectives. After our recon sortie we went back to the SZ, slept for 2 hours and, at 5 AM, woke up to assault the last objective, then went back to SZ, had a quick breakfast, packed and went home. Kit considerations: Kit makes or breaks your loadout, in this case I should have done an entirely different thing: Helikon TMR works well on Sunday skirmishes but lacks the comfort for longer, 8 hours + events, next time I'll use the mayflower or smersh; The backpack I used has too thin shoulder straps, so at one point it started digging in my shoulders, also it's weird shaped so despite being 20 litres, it felt like 10; The new Claw Gear pants are fucking brilliant! Very, very comfortable though I might need soft knee inserts; 3 litres of water were *barely* enough before I got sick and had to go back, I need at least one extra litre, at least for summer; Need to bring a sleeping bag and pad with me, leave them in the car and use them to rest, I don't mind sleeping on the ground in summer but I woke up drenched in condensation from my poncho. Overall not a great experience, if the event was done in winter/early spring I would have enjoyed it way, way more. Also, while I was at the SZ, I saw at least three ambulances going in and out, turns out some people had it much, much worse than I did. Picture before we started
