With that budget I’d get my self a TM recoil and the mags for it but one thing I would say is DO NOT BUY OR PAY TO HAVE AN UPGRADED ONE ! I’ve basically had at least one or more since they 1st came on to the UK market(give or take a couple of yrs so I’ve made an awful lot of schoolboy errors with them ! 🤦‍♂️) and bar changing the connector to a Deans my experience and team mates has shown you do not need to upgrade them , you’ll be given loads of reasons and excuses of why you need too , faster trigger response , higher rate of fire , increased range , etc etc but I’m sorry they’re all bollox in my book , you may ‘want’ too upgrade but you certainly don’t ’need’ too . TM have spent a lot of time and money getting them where they are today and I do genuinely believe there one of the few models on the market that just aren’t suited to being messed about with , got a busted or worn out one ? Yes certainly have a go but new out of the box ? Nope sorry your just making a top notch gun sub par by doing so . AND so ends the Sunday sermon ! 😉 😁😁

Another great day at Apocalypse near Royston, despite one of the screws working loose and going awol. It was also the first time I've fed my aegs .3g ammo and I'll definitely be sticking to them in future as they gave me noticeably more range over the .25s I've been using previously

So bought a Noveske rail but forgot to get the barrel adapter for my MWS. The rail came yesterday, was at work last night, and got a game at 2 today! So had to make a temporary solution... laser cut a small ply disk until I get a proper barrel adapter. Obviously cos it's a disk and not a proper adapter it doesn't quite fit flush to the receiver but it will do me for today. It's getting much closer to how I want it to look now. PS my school nickname was Stitch hence my little mascot.

So although the idea of a snow camo RIF was appealing, the realisation that I will probably never use it due to lack of game days when there is snow, or that "fook that its freezing" feeling, I repainted my CM16 Raider 2.0 Pretty generic camo, netting style but hey ho Also thought I woukd take a pic of the Predator as it's how I want it now, white light, lasers, QD suppressor, comfortable height optic, sling setup, plenty battery space

My nearest site is £25 as a walk on. No food though. You can get a half day for £15 (but these are usually bought up) which is usually two games, initial long game woodland hike plus variable second one depending on how much dragging of feet there was at the beginning…. I actually think the sport is relatively cheap to get into. You can have a skirmishable AEG, couple of hicaps, a spare battery and eye-pro for £200-300. You don’t actually NEED any of the other tat to have fun or be effective.

Cool! Glad you had a good day at my local site. Yeah once the bangs start it becomes very eerie and you can find yourself inching along walls. Tracers add another dimension to play. Lol. I still get lost down there after four years. But a great venue from when you enter through the blast doors until you leave. Regards

Had a superb 2nd skirmish at Airsoft Plantation today. I think there were about 120 of us, and we got to have some great set piece battles, charging into battle on a double decker bus (!). Sadly missed out on a bus ride myself as I had the first of several equipment failures. First was a dodgy ebay battery in my M4, then the stanag adaptor for the P90 went for a burton, and in my rush to go pick up my two P90 mid caps from the safezone I forgot to grab my speedloader and ran out of ammo halfway through the battle. Switched to the WE Galaxy and managed to take a few Reds as they dismounted the bus, but then it stopped firing BBs...I spent the rest of that game just being a shouty meatshield. Back to the M4 on a new battery after lunch, where it performed very well on my last game. With the acog I was able to get some good longish range hits in (aiming works and I'll die on this hill), and blues managed to hold back the red advance until the timer ran out. It got quite intense at one stage - I think one guy lost an eyebrow to a flashbang... Had to forgo the last couple of short games because the m4 battery was dying by the end, i was all out of backup guns, and truth be told me and my mate were properly knackered. Fiddling with my load out all day, it was getting lighter and lighter as the day went on 😅 in the end I was down to a battle belt with one spare hicap and an empty holster, a light dpm jacket and the M4. Chest rig seems OK in theory but it just makes me feel like the Michelin man tbh...though it might just be because my rig is crap. Great team at Plantation and good facilities, would recommend. Will definitely go again.

Gun testing game today. Took the tournament M4 with its new Warhead motor for a spin and it performed fine, snappier than the SHS HT I was running and 2/3 more RPS from barely 18 to 20/21, also it had some FPS consistency issues (now sorted, shortened the tappet plate fin and fucked off the delayer chip, feeds fine on both high caps and midcaps) and overall dropped 0.08J from 0.99 to 0.90/0.92, most likely caused by the new hop rubber (ML super macaron to replace the MR I had, both 70°). Anyway, games went relatively well, the first three games it was experienced players defending and newer/younger attacking, this just to teach them a thing or two. Then we started mixing as per our routine. Gotta be honest, I've never shot so few rounds in a day lol, even when sniping I fire more basically all single shots in some kid's ass because they weren't paying attention to their surroundings... Also it was cold because yesterday it actually snowed 😕 and there was a little bit left throughout the field.

I went and did something very different this weekend. The Worthing lot had a private game at UCAP Bunker on Saturday and I went along, having not done CQB for over a decade and I had a great time. I even went in costume as I was a member of the civilian treasure hunter team and wore a shirt, tie and a long coat for a very noir/cyberpunk mercenary look; the other two teams (yep, 3 team game!) were the home guard and the Russian PMCs. I took all my short guns (TM mp7 AEP, Cyma mp5k and Cyma m870 breacher) as well as my mk23 for a pistol and I had a blast. I did have to put the mp7 aside though, as the tunnels were longer than I expected and I just didn't have the range with my 0.5J of pew pew, plus I don't think people were feeling the hits on semi (which all players were limited to). I've had this problem before while using the mp7 as a sidearm to my sniper loadout; it needs full auto for people to feel it. You don't feel one, but you feel a quick burst of four or five. However, as soon as I brought out the tri-shot I found a lot more success switching between that for short range gunfights and the mk23 for everything else (silent kills and long range shots). Having practiced shoulder transfers and shooting from the left and right shoulder was absolutely invaluable for this event and I found a lot of success helping my team by taking up positions that required left-handed shooting. As a big and tall, 6'5" guy, I wasn't ever going to be the fastest down those tunnels as I was having to crouch to get through them, so I decided to do what I do best for my and played the sniper role in CQB. But how did I do that? Well, there were lots of nice little shadowy corners where it turns out I was basically invisible if I kept still, so I identified a few of these positions around the central corridor and just denied the ground to any opposing team. This funneled the Russian PMCs towards the home guard and was quite successful in keeping our flank protected while we focused on the objectives. I had friends on the home guard team who were wondering why the Russians were pushing so hard down towards them in the afternoon . Was it as high action as the rest of my team who fought damn well in the afternoon game to secure and move the objective? No, but it was incredibly satisfying with every quiet mk23 kill and very confused Russian PMC wondering where the hell they had been shot from. I even managed to knife kill the juggernaut and help my team secure the objective at the start by using the same tactics. No jokes, but next time I go down I'll bring my m21. It's set up for 1.1J as it's one of my no MED sniper rifles, but being able to deny down those long tunnels would be absolutely invaluable. I don't need anything more than a pistol for moving about and navigating those tight corners anyway.

On the topic of MoA I managed to get a few details from someone who is there and has been talking to the VFC reps. Current thinking is a release sometime around July (I have little faith in that bit unfortunately) the price has also been aimed at 19800 TWD which is around £530 plus tax at current exchange rates. Materials wise it sounds like it's mostly steel, including the bolt however, interestingly they've chosen not to apply the full trademarks to keep costs down. All in all it sounds fairly promising and definitely a rif that I'll be trying to get my hands on when they do come out 😏

Do the CORE models have the Orion gearbox? If so, they're a poor choice for a DMR build, as they're notoriously prone to cracking. Well, I say that, but I'm using an Edge with an Orion as a 1.8J+ DMR and it hasn't let go yet. An M115 spring is notionally going to get you 377fps / 1.32J, so congratulations, you've just built a Section 5 prohibited firearm, go directly to jail. Really though, that's likely to be way too hot for any UK sites. Why on earth you'd put an M115 in it without a chrono boggles the mind. Do you know what it was shooting at with the M90? Either way, I'd get that back in there before you play next. I echo all of the above. Or if you want to chisel a few £££ and aren't in a particular hurry, the Big Dragon M140 motors (or "mortors") from AliExpress can come in a bit cheaper and are pretty meaty. Yup. I'd take careful note of what's already in there as well, I'm pretty sure that my Edge came with an unannounced flat hop bucking and nub rather than the more usual mounded bucking and cylinder nub. Those work together as a pair and are unlikely to pay well with individual alternatives. The CORE may not have a flat hop though, and you're unlikely to go far wrong with a Maple Leaf bucking and nub combination.

to echo above the first thing you're gonna want is a chrono if you're going to be messing around with springs etc. not only can it check the power is correct, but it's a good measurement for consistency and wether or not any remedial work done to the air seal has actually helped. on the subject of which for range/accuracy you're gonna want to look at the following (in order of difficulty-performance ratio): 1. clean the barrel, and get into the habit of cleaning it regularly. a good rule of thumb is before every game day although sometimes even during a game day might be necessary (especially with a tighter bore) 2. feed it good quality heavier ammo, even the best gun in the world will shoot like shit if you stuff some bulldog 0.12's in it. how heavy is a toss up between your usual round count and your bank balance but generally the 0.28-0.32g range tends to be a good compromise for assault style play. 3. tying into 2 is to look at the hop, doesn't need to be difficult just a drop-in setup like the maple leaf macaron+omega nub combo when installed properly will help spin up the heavies. the longer feedlips can occasionally cause feeding issues in some guns and for those i'm a fan of the pdi w-hop with standard nub (although that'll struggle with really heavy ammo). 4. consistency- you'll need a chrono for this. you want to be addressing any potential leak so that every last molecule in the cylinder is going nowhere but down the barrel propelling the bb. the way to check this is to chrono a few shots and semi and see what sort of range of values you get, the smaller this range the better. this involves cracking open the gearbox too so a big step up in the difficulty. 5. energy- this is where you've jumped ahead to already, but the reason to wait until you're sure the air seal is good is you want to be sure the spring your using is only as strong as it needs to be to get the energy you need. if you have a bad leak and compensate with an overpowered spring you're just loading the box unnecessarily and with less resistance the piston slapping home isn't going to be happy. you don't need to be too exact, being a few fps under the limit won't be a massive loss in range but it might make the difference if the battered to crap filled with shattered nuprol bb's and soaked in mildew from sitting in a shed site chrono doesn't read so precise any more. 6. barrel- at this point the rest of the system should be getting good enough to justify a better barrel, gains aren't likely to be massive here (we're getting to the steep bit of the diminishing returns curve) but something like the ZCI 6.02 stainless barrels are cracking value for money. length wise just stick with the same length as stock, extending the barrel length won't help performance and indeed can actually make things worse if it starts under-voluming the system. worth noting whilst i'm using the conventional "fps" terminology, that's actually "fps equivalent for a 0.2g bb", when using heavier ammo the raw fps number the chrono spits out will be lower, but don't be fooled into thinking that means less range, the energy (aka joules) is what matters (for site compliance) and even if it's travelling slower heavier ammo at the same energy does travel further (among other advantages). as for semi-auto response, these days that's easier than ever thanks to the abundance of mosfets with precocking. that'll take a lot of the perceived delay out of the equation without messing with rate of fire in auto (and the potential problems driving a gearbox too fast can have). pair that with a decent motor (warhead brushless being the current kings for pickup speed, although they're not exactly cheap) and you're pretty much there already.

another vote for getting a chrono, unless your not in the UK the spring your put in is likely over limits if your air seal is good.

The only thing I would change from the outset would be the stock motor, swapping it for an SHS/Rocket Hi-torque. I would leave everything else as-is, and give the barrel a good clean. And fucking around with springs without a chrono is a really bad idea.

My advice is put the M90 back in and just play with it for a few games. Go and watch some upgrade video's on YT, so many great resources out there. Lot of people rush into upgrades but only end up breaking their only AEG. You say you want a DMR, would this be a 2nd AEG or are you planning on converting the CORE?

Unless you're going for a dmr you'll want to test that on a chrono. An m115 spring is going to be hot, unless you have the leakiest gun in the land. Edit: and yes, get a chrono. It's the #1 thing you need when tuning your own gun.

They're around £365, new without a scope. Frankly the only thing you actually need is a new spring as they shoot around 1.3j out of the box. So the gun, scope, spring and spare mags should set you back less than £500. It doesn't need any performance upgrades, I was easily outranging AEGs by at least 20m on .4s. The only thing I may change at some point is a new piston to make it a bit quieter but that's by no means a necessity.

I have often thought of buying one of the earlier TM Beretta 92s, as opposed to the later M9A1 and M9 models, simply because there was a metal kit for it. Was it a pain to install the Guarder kit? I imagine the bbu would have had to be filed to get it to fit the Guarder slide. Anything else I should be aware of?

I noticed on a warm day and using the drum mag, I was running slightly hot. So have reverted to the stock inner (which seems more than adequate to me anyway). I'm getting very consistent results, just below the joule limit. This one did make me chuckle though..

MWS is pretty much steady state now. G&P NPAS seems a better fit than the usual RATech black and the Inforce WML is a nice ergonomic light. Recent purchase (from nwcustomparts) is an Ergo grip Tactical Deluxe Chonky Boi 3000 (or something, IDK) If you have big hands and find regular grips too small and trigger pull length a little short I would take a look at these. Hefty palm swell and subtle finger grooves makes sure that your hand is “indexed” without the grip forcing you to hold it in one way only. PTS ERG for scale (you) vs the grip she told you not to worry about 😂

Cards on the table, I like the SRS and the Steyr Scout, but the SSG10 is £100 less and ticks all the right boxen. I've been F5'ign UKFOB since I started this thread.

"Joule creep" is what happens when you use ammo that works more efficiently with the system. It may be a bit of a buzz word/phrase but it can make people more aware of the effects of changing ammo weight, and most of the time that's a good thing.

Update. Mine has arrived!

The S&T SMLE isn't cheap, but 100 budget .303 cartridges are £77 through a real one. A round of clays is 35p per clay and £6 a box of 25 budget cartridges. Shooting is never really cheap. You are literally buying things to fling them all over the countryside. Airsoft is not bad value IMHO. To be candid... I worked out in an idle moment just how much beer I bought when I was seriously into snooker. Two nights practicing and one nights competition was a minimum of 12 pints per week, plus table hire, taxis, nerve soothing fags, post-pub pizzas and the odd victory party to 2am. Life in the UK is rarely cheap, especially leisure. Glad to be able to knacker myself out for so little tbh.

I’ve played a few sites as a rental player just for nosy ness. You get an interesting view point. My big gripes are unreliable site guns, non intelligible briefings & cliques. The latter two being heavily influenced by the Marshalling quality. The Head Shed does make a difference if they lack confidence or interest everything else goes felgercarb quickly. The worst, ie dangerous things I’ve seen at sites were directly down to marshals. I’m talking stupidity with pyro in the safe zone and threats with actual weapons. CS woodland was close to perfect as a green site. 😭😭😭
