  1. Remember.... you asked for it! 🤣 First pic is contents of my cap immediately afterwards. It looked like one of my kids had emptied a pack of ketchup in there! Second is my bonce, obviously. Third is my ribs.

  2. As someone who owns 4 MWS. It is usually cheaper and easier to just buy a complete separate gun and configure it how you want. It is pretty rare to pick up a separate upper and when they do come up they are nearly the price of a complete gun anyway. One of my guns started off as a spare upper, someone on this forum damaged their lower and managed to pick up a pre-sprayed retailer two tone for a fair price and was very reasonable when selling the unnecessary upper on the forum. As I was planning a DMR upper the bright green front end was immediately going in my bits box anyway so that was fine for me. About a year later I saw someone selling a lower (as they wanted two uppers and a lower in the same gun case) and it was so cheap relative to the price of an upper that I bought it immediately if for no other reason than I would get more for a complete gun than for an upper only of I ever did decide to sell up. Also if you are Looking at a DMR build for your second gun, a complete gun makes sense as you can semi lock the DMR lower so you can up the FPS. Pics of my MWS, just why not....

  3. So, today was a particularly fun one. Five of us have been playing online games together, for nigh on 20 years. Some of us have never met face to face. This weekend we finally all met up. Three not that far apart, one from Scotland and one from Canada. I've obviously played a lot. One of us had played about 5 games. The Scottish guy had played Airsoft once before. The Canadian played once with me last weekend. That other had never played before today. We went to Red Alert in Newbury. What a superb day. First time at the site for all of us, and it was a great site. Good sized playing area, lots of great terrain and buildings (standard wood builds but good quality and varied), lots of varied game modes, very welcoming staff and they marshals could not have been more engaged. The atmosphere was very good. All five of us had a great day, and all of the varying levels of newbies are very keen to play again and are all talking about getting their own kit (I loaned out a lot of kit today and got it all back in the same condition I lent it out in). Red Alert is highly recommend, I've booked in for their next battlesim weekend. Oh, and we got some comemmerative patches made up for the meet up, that we wore today.

  4. It's not impossible. They use a copy of the Motorola HT port, just a different screw size (source). You can also get U94 style PTT's for them (although these cost more than the radio. I think the main selling point of the UV-9R's is the alleged water resistance, rather than the increased power, which was largely exaggerated in an analysis I read (don't have it to hand). Of course, you could achieve the same by putting it in a plastic bag, so...

  5. You might want to pick a variant with the standard 2 pin kenwood headset connection, whatever the 9r uses looks proprietary and you'll find it difficult to find any decent compatible headsets or mics. uv5rs are usually perfectly fine, but the QC on the headset connector on them is beyond shit, and generally leads to some connection issues, but thats what you get with cheap radios, that issue is sorted in their most recent stuff i think, but still run into people with uv5rs with that issue

  6. Further, both of them can use the PMR466 frequencies to talk to poors. I'd question the value of a UV-9R for UK airsoft purposes, unless you're on a particularly huge site, as the UV-5R has a decent enough range as it is. Still, we spend much more for much less without blinking.

  7. Yes. They operate on the same frequency bands.

As Groucho Marx said “I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member !” same goes for airsoft teams , if you can join a team who recruit by simply you asking to join OR they put out a general request for new members ? Don’t do it , only teams I’ve seen over the yrs that work AND last are ones formed by friends or ones where they approach you and ask would you like to join their team . also if you see a ‘structured’ team(ones that have dedicated positions/ranks/etc) run away , fast ! on the whole you usually find they’ve been founded by some nut job who thinks he knows it all as he was an adult instructor in the army cadets so he knows his military skills ! and it’ll more than likely be about as much fun as a kick in the bollox .

  11. Just to add to this thread - I e-mailed the contact at the bottom of my "Notice of Detention for Imported Goods" letter with my UKARA details (number, site obtained, address registered to). They replied several days later advising that subsequently they could release the RIF. About three weeks later I finally received it from UPS (albeit missing the suppressor, outer box squished and covered in BF tape). At no point did I pay anything additional. I seem to recall reading on the Novritsch website that the amount at checkout did indeed include duty & taxes. I think someone did the import customs clearance "free of charge" too.

  13. if the barrel seems clean then that's a good sign it's not that, for the hop can sometimes be very subtle, especially with fancy contact patches (eg ml). not outside the realm of possibility, that's the nozzle alignment you normally hear talked about with converting aeg's. for example dropping a fusion engine into a reciever that doesn't quite line up right compared to the original gearbox is a common issue. that said, you wouldn't normally expect it to be an issue on a factory built gun like the tippmanns (or the mtw). one wonders if perhaps it's a side effect of the barrel swap (ie something not being lined up properly on reassembly), i've never taken a tippmann apart so idk if that's a possibility.

  14. consistently curving to the right sounds like the hop isn't sitting square, usual suspects being inner barrel being slightly rotated, the hop arm/nub not being square or the hop rubber not sitting right. other option could be some damage to the inner barrel or some aspect of the outer barrel (particularly prevalent with suppressors) that the bb is clipping on the way out. however that should be a fixable issue, worst case maybe a new barrel if it's damaged but more likely just a re-seating of the barrel and hop components.

    Worst injury from airsoft

Yeah, I've been hit in the eyebrow from a few meters. Stung quite a bit but just rubbed it. Then I felt something trickling into my eye and I thought, "I can't be sweating THAT much". Saw the blood after wiping my eye. Oh well, play on...

  21. On an average 1hr range session I use about 1000 bbs, so assuming I get two sessions in a week (which I try my best to do) and also assuming I was only doing pistol drills, the AA would last 3 weeks….

  23. If you fancy a particular era/game, then check out Facebook. I play with a very loosely organised 'team' in themed games. We just turn up and play, and over time you gel with certain other regular players. Cold War themed games are a great way to start. Gunman and Octo8 are probably the easiest to start with. Both have fb pages. Sierra Bravo do some great themed games in Kent.

  27. Could be some movement in the hop arm? Some gearbox shims either side of the pin would hold it in place if that is the issue.

  31. Ali Express are good with dealing with disputes I have had a couple of partial refunds for kit that has turned up sub-par or just shite! If you can live with the dent, I would DEFINITELY raise the issue, I wouldn’t be surprised if you get offered 50% of the purchase price back by them. Then it’s worth living with 👌 edit: fuck me , I’ve just seen how much that cost 100% get a claim in mate 😳

Problems that rushing in seeking a team often have is that, should you not "gel" with your team mates, for any number of reasons ?, & your team regularly frequents your local/home site, it can make things awkward. The fact that you've been playing a while, I assume at only one or two reasonably local sites tells me you've not got involved or felt "attracted😘" to teams there ?, so maybe a change of venue for a while, such as Invicta, will present opportunities to meet like minded people. Just remember teams are like friendships, those forced together rarely have the kinship/shitz & giggles that those that take the time to evolve have👍

  36. Sorry for not replying earlier gents. The only vests I have used in the past are of the 8Fields, Mil-tex, GF own brand and some Russian/French Surplus stuff. The best vest I have is a "laser cut" GF own brand thing. For me "Real quality" would be something along the lines of Invader Gear, compared to what I have used before. I am not sure I am willing to spend much more then 90 quid as I want to get at least 3-4 Vests of different colours. The Invader Gear I was looking at because its the best vest I can find in Vegetato. Should I be looking at something second hand instead for the OD, Black and Tan varieties? Cheers!

    THE TM MWS thread

Maintenance: Now before i get into what i do, id like to point out that how i do it and what i use are not the only way of doing things. People use all sorts of different oils, grease and sprays to get the job done. As long as it's suitable for the job, all is well. Items: Wurth High performance dry chain lube (Teflon/ptfe spray) Wurth brake and chain cleaner Airsoft Engenuity cleaning rod Silicone oil paper towels Step 1: Remove the magazine and split the upper and lower by popping out the body pins. From there, remove the charging handle and bolt carrier group. Using the paper towel, wipe them down properly, including the channel on the underside of the charging handle. This is what mine looks like after one game day and a bit of testing. Step 2: With the moving parts cleaned, we need to move onto the upper receiver. There is no point cleaning the moving parts if the walls they're sliding against are still dirty, so wipe down the inner walls of the upper receiver as well as the grove that the charging handle runs in. Step 3: We're going to finish off the cleaning of the upper by cleaning the barrel. I use an Airsoft Engenuity Optirod because it holds cue tips at a slight angle instead of cutting little strips of tissue, but any will work just fine. I go in from the muzzle end and stop before the hop up so i don't disturb it or damage it in any way. Because i use propane, i don't get silicone oil or other crap all over the hop rubber. If you do, take a cue tip and gently push it inside and twist. you don't want to apply any sort of pressure because you're at risk of rotating the rubber ever so slightly or damaging it. Step 4: Moving on to the lower.. I have two processes that i do to the lower. One after every game, and one after every 5. The only difference is on the 5th clean i spray out the lower with brake/chain/carb cleaner. Because of how tight everything is packed in to the MWS trigger box its hard to completely clean it without removing it from the lower. with carb cleaner it will blast out all of the deposits and degrease the trigger mech completely. what will happen is the spray will run into the gaps and drip out of the trigger hole in the bottom of the lower. The spray evaporates in the air, so after about 30 seconds it will be bone dry, leaving behind a clear trigger box. For the daily clean, i just wipe down all visible surfaces with a cloth/ paper towel. In order to keep a reliable bolt lock, push the bolt release and clean the faces of the ZET plate when it lifts up. if you get crap between there, it can slow and not lock back reliably. Especially running green gas, which cycles the gun faster. Step 5: Everything is now clean, so we can start with the lube. There's lots of options out there but one thing that's important is this... SILICONE OIL IS NOT FOR METAL ON METAL PARTS. over time, silicone oil will make metal bind and is the exact opposite of what we want to do. Silicone oil is important, but only for sealing components. I use Wurth dry chain spray for 2 reasons. If it can lubricate and stand up to the temperatures of chain/sprocket contact on a 200mph motorbike, it will do just fine on our bolt moving 8" forward and back. The other reason is it isn't messy. it dries in the air and leaves a light film on the surface so it isn't going to get thrown around the inside of the gun. so give it a good spray and give it a few seconds to dry. Step 6: Back to the lower.. If you're using a spray like me, put your finger over the hop up entrance in the lower receiver and give the inside a quick spray with the lube. YOU DO NOT WANT ANY LUBE OR ANYTHING ELSE ON THE HOP RUBBER. If you're using a grease or oil, this is less of an issue (until you fire the gun and it throws it all in there anyway) Step 7: Spray your BCG and charging handle with lube. Pretty self explanatory so i didn't bother with a picture. What i do is hold the bolt by the nozzle with my thumb covering the underside of the nozzle. this stops any lube going into the nozzle chamber. Step 8: Last thing to do is lubricate the sealing parts with silicone oil. This step is only really needed if you use propane, as green gas should keep the sealing cup on the nozzle adequately lubed and i do this every 5 games. Pull the nozzle out and place a couple of drops of silicone oil between the nozzle and the BCG. On WE guns you can pull the nozzle out far enough to apple lube directly to the o ring, but you cant on an MWS without removing the nozzle, so this is as good as you can get. Like i said though, if you're using green gas, this shouldn't need to be done often. Step 9: Put it all back together because you're done!

  39. Well, I've just had mine! I was playing at YTA Borderlands, near Huddersfield,. It's a really nice site (from what I got to play) and the marshals are excellent (very professional, thank God!). It's a sniper's paradise, but not at the expense of everyone else. I was working with two other snipers as part of a pincer movement on an objective, but I got slotted by a counter sniper. All good, I went to a respawn point - but the respawn point was very close to an enemy held objective. I had seen two leave and rather than retreat to a safe distance, I took a shot. To be met by a barage of return automatic fire. They couldn't range me, so I spun on my heels and ran, just as their team members were piling out of the objective to join in. There's me and running and never the twain should meet. The safety brief told us to watch out for the rocky terrain and that things were unstable underfoot. I'd even listened to the safety briefing, as I'd never been there before. However, this information eluded me whilst "running for my life". I was at full tilt, tripped on a rock and went flying. As I was flying through the air I had one thought "Must. Protect. Rifle." And so I twisted to angle the rifle away from the ground. Stupidest fucking thing I've ever done. Instead of twisting it away from me, I ended up landing on it and as my head went down it cracked a rock. I lay there, unmoving, staring at the tree canopy and blue sky beyond and watched as it swirled. I was still being shot. Which was nice. But didn't have the air in my lungs to shout anything. And I couldn't raise my arm. It felt like they were adding insult to injury, so I managed to stick one middle finger up. Unfortunately, rather than thinking something was wrong, or accepting my arm was in the air, they took it as a taunt and continued to fire 🤣 Eventually, I think I heard someone say "is he actually alright?" and they came over to check on me. The first person to arrive was a cracking player called Alan, who just happened to be a first aider. He checked me over and between them they got me sat up. Alan removed my cap, as I'd said I'd hit my head, so that he could just check if everything was ok. His reaction was dramatic and something along the lines of "OH MY GOD, someone get a med kit!". To be honest, I thought he was just taking the piss to make me feel better and was expecting the next line "only joking". But it never came. I had a hole in my head and it was leaking lots of blood and scalp tissue. The marshals had already called ceasefire, and the players all responded immediately - I felt terrible I'd ruined the game and lost them playing time. I was carted off the field and I have to say, the YTA team (and Alan and Andy, two very kind players) did a cracking job looking after me. After waiting 3 hours for an ambulance that never came, the manager of YTA, Paul arrived and decided it would be quicker to just drive me to A&E. So my heartfelt thanks to him for that, otherwise I might still be waiting! Sum total of damage - hole in head, sewn up with four stitches, two broken ribs and severe bruising. Damage to my SRS and MK23 is currently unknown as I haven't dared look. The irony of doing that much damage to myself in an effort to not get shot a lot and then getting shot a lot as well is not lost on me. They're certainly my worst injuries from airsoft, how about you guys and gals?

  41. i dont know which of mine was the worst though neither compare to yours. But having a bb deflect off the lower face pro and catching me just under the eye. The pain was bad, the embarrassment of walking around with a black ey for 2 weeks was worse. But probably out ouching that was last year when my timed bfg went off whilst still attached to my hip. It burnt a whole in my expensive leo kholer ubacs (financial pain) burnt through my under armour base layer and set fire to it causing what would have been a nasty burn to be much worse. took abour 2 months to heal and has left a permanent scar and something all my friends like to remin me of as i has stood up to call hit when it happened and they all thought i had grenaded myself. SO yeah that was holds financial, physical and mental/emotional damage and it stung like a biatch. Still played out the rest of the day though

  42. Our of all of the shots that I've been hit with, an ear shot was my most painful by far, so I can really sympathise! I got shot through a tarp at near enough point blank and it sent me a bit funny. Really hurt and through me right off for a few minutes. Less painful but debatably worse; had a tooth shot out around 7 or 8 years ago. I'd been playing around a year at that point and I did my first day without full face protection and got slotted at very close range by someone with a Cyma Mp5 (site rentals at 345 fps). Didnt hurt but felt very cold!
