  1. Not necessarily, I turned up at a site years ago, & a team turned up, teens & early twenties, total shower of shit bar one, he claimed to have previously been TA & still had access to berets & cap badges, so in his infinite wisdom thought would mark them out as a team if they all wore them. Thing is, it was my regiments beret & badge, I worked hard for mine & I'd had a couple of mates die wearing theirs, so seeing a bunch of long haired wankers make absolute cnuts of themselves in them really fucked me off, & I told them so🤬. While that situation is rare, my experience shows it can happen, so I'd always tell people in threads like this, be careful, act with respect & if in doubt, don't do it.

  2. Would only be controversial if you wear badges and berets on it you haven't earned. Doesn't bother me overly being currently serving but it does some people. If you wanna walt as the RAF Regiment then that's your (slightly weird) lifestyle choices chum, as far as I am concerned! What does annoy me is airsofters buying gear that is on the restricted list currently, so things like the latest model of body armour etc that should really still be with HM Forces. Essentially, its theft.

  3. In my experience there's 1 reason people usually get pissy. They're getting offended on behalf of others (who often don't give a shit). Unless you're walting these people are best ignored or told to where to go This. It's worth noting that if you buy something that's nicked and the seller gets caught, you could easily loose the thing you bought and the money paid for it

Welcome 🖐 Don't worry about joining a group. Most of us started as loners. Do plenty of reading to get an idea what its all about and then book yourself in a game as a rental to start. Get talking to people at the tables and after a few game days you'll be in a group of regulars. Have a look here for sites near you. https://playairsoft.uk/

Ahoy and welcome. Should be a few sites down there, I'll let the locals chime in. If you don't find anyone looking for love, I'd encourage you to just book a rental day at any of the local sites and go along solo. Airsoft is a very welcoming hobby, it's super easy to get talking to people. All you have to do is ask someone about their gun and then your problem is getting them to stop talking to you. 😆

Hey @Junko, I’m a fellow Cheshire man myself. If you’re looking for sites to play at, jump on playairsoft.uk, there’s a few around North West. I’ve recently visited West Midlands and Yorkshire for my airsoft fix, as I’m touring the north of England to have a broader view of what’s available. Welcome to the forum, and enjoy your stay! EDIT: Looks like @EDcase beat me to it! 😅

  9. I CQB'd mine last night for the first time, folded stock and unfolded, it hits hard , and its not particularly light but its not stupid heavy.. its got a good heft imo... but 1 - full auto for CQB is pointless as its generally not allowed, semi only. 2 - you definitely need a tracer unit as you cant really judge your shooting in the dark. 3- i did thumb the safety on by accident a few times. Its a Krytac and I really dig it!

  10. Personally, I hope they steer away from the TT racegun stuff. Though perhaps that's wishful thinking considering Taran's role in training I guess. Part of me thinks it would be cool to see some less common stuff. I seem to recall the third one ends with John without all his connections to the Continental etc so perhaps we'll see him geared up with less Gucci stuff. As a big fan of films like Hard Boiled and The Killer etc and the Beretta 92FS, I feel the John Wick franchise could perfectly pay homage to some of the brutal up close and personal gunfights that you see in HK cinema of that era. Supplement the Beretta M92FS with other guns from the first Max Payne game, M11, sawed off shotgun, Colt M733. Maybe even the M79 and Jackhammer if they're feeling a bit funky. So, with the exception of the M79 and Jackhammer, just more basic stuff that might be able to be sourced from the black market/people still friendly with John but not on the level of the Continental.

  13. Thank you for the update, while I appreciate the lead time on getting the custom parts in, belt buckles etc, reading between the lines it sounds like poor organisational skills from whoevers in charge, anticipating your logistic needs is paramount, & yes not always easy but this issue hasn't come about overnight, nor can brexit be blamed, it's been talked about for a long time, that tells me that the demand is there. & surely if the main issue being blamed is the manufacture & supply of the parts such as buckles, the answer would be to find an alternative supplier even if it means modifying the design slightly, rather that than keep pissing off (& losing) customers & what amounts to punishing your staff for management failings. IMHO 🤔

  14. As of just recently, all of us staff at FRV have been put on a Zero Hour Contract (because of a 'lack of work'), so good luck getting your orders any time soon, guys and girls. The main problem that stemmed with you guys getting your belts quickly was a complete lack of buckles - The lead time on them was ridiculous (something like 16 weeks), as supplies of said buckles are usually made to order, and with Covid, supplies have been limited in that regard. It doesn't help that they only employed around 10 staff to have all the work done. Doesn't help you guys get your orders, but though I'd try to shed at least some light onto what's happening over there.

Amen to that. I'm so fed up with getting excited when I see a gun announcement and then instantly losing interest when I see it's made by Ares.

  17. Def can't knock em mate, I can't say I haven't been tempted a number of times over the last month while chasing the Krytac high! The thing that was a deal breaker for me was the high-caps. Couldn't seem to see a mid-cap mag for that otherwise it'd have been bought! Very nice my man, been holding out for that dual tone and excited for it to come through next week! Tracer's being moved from my M4 over to the vector day 1, don't think I can return to non-tracer life now. The weight hasn't really put me off - been running a pretty long, chunky m4 for a while and part of the allure of the vector was a smaller platform to fly about my CQB site without taking chunks out of my handguard or the site's plywood walls 😂.

  20. Being a Ghk fanboy, I can confirm that Samoon won’t send RIF’s, mags or barrels to the uk. Internal parts and accessories should be ok Gbbr’s are a bit of a faff for your first pewpew My M4 is in hibernation until warmer weather arrives, as it’s USELESS during the current ambient temps Get yourself a nice TM recoil if you want something useable , that will save you tears and will be useable all year round, as a suggestion! I use a TM recoil for that reason during colder months Also the low ammo count mags will ruin your play if you are just starting off Its just a suggestion, it’s your money, spunk it how you will 😂 Bit if you must, you must They are awesome to shoot 😁👍

    TM M9 mag compatibility

AFAIK, WE M9 Mags do not fit TMs. I tried placing an older model WE Samurai Edge M9 mag into my TM M92F (with adjustable hop (so current model)) and it fit but the hammer couldn't strike the release valve. Also, word of warning, if you want to get a holster for your pistol and are looking at the rigid kind such as the Blackhawk SERPA models et al. Make sure it accepts an M9 with a Brigadier Slide. Get a decent holster as well, ideally real steel stuff, i have had poor quality holsters eject my mags from my pistols without me knowing. Furthermore the TM M9s (and their RE versions) are heavier than regular TM pistols as they have added weights in them. Most rigid M9 holsters such as the Blackhawk SERPA Level 2 Duty Holster (Google Search Ref No: 44H004BK-R) will not accept M9s with Brigadier Slides. And you my friend if you have a Samurai Edge which was a n M9 customised by Joseph Kendo of Kendo's Gun shop specifically for STARS, one of the key features was fitting a Brigadier Slide to the pistols. Only the Albert. W. Model 01P made instead by Blue Umbrella is the only Resident Evil M9 without the Brigadier slide. This is the pistol i own and with a lower frame swap was able to get it to fit snugly into my SERPA without modding the holster itself.

Mmm, it does seem that GHKs are out of stock everywhere in the UK. Sad times ahead if anything a bit off the beaten AEG track becomes direct import only, with the current state of imports.

    Samoon delivery to UK

Samoon will need your UKARA, they are pretty good at shipping stuff quickly and I have ordered loads of GHK parts and mags from them previously. But you have a small problem, as currently I don't believe they are shipping RIFs to the UK due to COVID reasons or some such bollocks. Unless that has changed in the last 24hrs since I last visited their site. If that is still the case I can firmly recommend WGCShop, they order via Samoon anyway and are currently shipping to the UK. Everything Rogerborg mentions is true by the way. You need a UKARA to stand a chance of getting your RIF through customs. I wouldn't risk them destroying your package (giggity) for the lack of one. @RogerborgSamoon are basically the web outlet for GHK, and currently pretty much the only place you can get one.

    Samoon delivery to UK

I'll go in slow and lubed. New as in "rented, played, loved it", or new as in "saw it on YouTube, found my new hobby for life"? I ask because if you're looking at dropping $900 plus magazines, shipping, VAT, duty and courier fees on something that will come essentially without warranty, you'll want to be sure that both airsoft and gas blowbacks are right for you. We generally recommend buying a cheaper AEG as a first gun, until you're sure that you really enjoy the hobby once the buzz has worn off. It's always good to have a robust backup or loaner around, you're unlikely to stop at one gun (or two, or three, or...) And you never will. It's a defence - one of many - not a licence, and it's a UK retailer scheme which only incidentally benefits players. In practice, this works out much the same, but it's a significant difference during import where it may or may not suffice depending on the courier and the mood of HMRC on the day. We've seen some folk recently having to fill out import declarations rather than just having it come through on a UKARA number, and some even having visits from the police afterwards to ask them what they're doing importing RIFs. The tl;dr version is: you need to be sure that importation is worth the risk, even with a defence. Nope. Purchase or attempt to purchase is fine if you're 18+. The offences are sale, manufacture, modification (of a non-realistic firearm into a realistic firearm) or importation, including causing it to be imported. So, yes, it does apply to this situation, but you're fine to try and persuade someone to sell you a RIF within the UK, without any legal problems - they're the one committing any offence, and some UK retailers sellers (and many private ones) either don't care or will accept other (or spurious) defences. Ownership is fine, no offence is being committed. Public possession needs a reasonable excuse every time - there is no licence or general defence to that, it's case by case. Yup, I'm surprised they're not more up-front about it. You'd have to be very, very lucky to get anything past customs now without it being caught. First I've heard of them. I know it's tempting because of UK stock levels at the moment. But you'll get hit with 20% VAT, plus some duty, plus a courier fee for paying it, and people are seeing lonnnng delays on deliveries from the EU let alone Taiwan. I've given up on importation for the moment (other than low value non-RIF stuff from AliExpress that's coming in with VAT pre-paid), it's just too big a gamble for the meagre cost benefits. It's up to you, and the more that gets imported into the UK the better for all of us, but I wouldn't bet my money on it.

    Samoon delivery to UK

Most overseas sites do not ask for a UKARA number because it is the buyers responsibility to make sure that what they import is within UK law and they meet the requirements for importing a restricted product. IE, if there is no UKARA field, I just put it as part of the address. So if you order from any old site and you do not put your UKARA in the address field or on a custom field provided, then it is not their fault that you don't receive it. The same as any restricted item.

    Which bucking?

The Macaron rubber is 90% of the performance of flat hop with about 5% of the effort so unless you plan on trying to lift very heavy ammo (ie more than the .28/.3 you mention) then it not really worth the hassle. The 50o or 60o Macaron should be fine for you.

    Which bucking?

.25 at least, tempted to go up to .28 or .30. FPS not a clue, the rifle is still in bits waiting in a full rewire and a new motor. Hoping to have it just under 350, but if it's over I've just limit it to semi and use it as a dmr, so I'll be uping the weight if I do.

I use the omega nubs in a few rifs, and I've been using maple leaf rubers with them. The new MR rubber and the older style too. They've been great.

    Acetech Bifrost

it is an amazing bit of kit. yes, the muzzle flash can give your position away, but that doesnt bother me too much given the sites i play at and the way i play. it is surprising how well it lights up white bbs. i run it all the time on my tippmann, and just unscrew it from the barrel if i decide i want to be super sneaky. i do have a mildly amusing tale regarding my bifrost.... i used it at apocalypse airsoft a couple of weeks after it got released (having ordered directly from acetech, i got it in my hands before any of the airsoft shops i use), as well as TAG rounds from the M320 mounted on my tippmann. one of the enemy players approached me in the safe zone as i was reloading the TAG shells and asked if i was the one with the rainbow tracer as well as the TAG rounds. when i confirmed that i was, this player told me that i had confirmed his fears and then revealed to me that some of the blue team had associated the TAGs and the rainbow flash... and that when they saw the muzzle flash, they turned and ran the opposite way.. so the bifrost can be used as a tool of intimidation in the right circumstances

    HPA Engines

Terms: P* (Polarstar), OOTB (out of the box), DI (Drop In), CR (Cylinder Replacement), MC (Mancraft), W (Wolverine), ME (Mechanical), FE (Fusion Engine) So Im in the US, which means HPA is far more common and available. As far as I know I have used quite literally every HPA system out there, barring a few unique or uninteresting ones to me (Russian "bear", Im looking at you). Daytona, Escort (pre-Daytona), W Inferno, Reaper, Reaper M, SMP, Hydra, Bolt, Bolt M, P* FE v2, FE v3, FE 249, Jack, F1, F2, Valken v12, Tapp HPA adapters, CQBRussian HPA taps, custom one-off HPAs, Redline engines, MC sDiKs, and probably a few others Ive forgotten. Ones I havent used include the P* Kythera, Redline MilSim, the aforementioned Russian "bear" (aka MedVed), and as stated single-gun engines like the old JACs. P* is, by far, my favorite for a few reasons. First, LCD FCUs. Wolverine engines are a PITA to adjust to exactly what you want - the older versions using two screwdriver dials, and the newer having an extremely basic FCU with lights to show settings. P* is all written out on an LCD screen, like a calculator screen. Second, are FEs. The only true drop in and go engines (besides the v12, but we dont talk about the v12) means you can keep your AEG gearbox together for a rainy day, to shove into another gun, or to use as spare parts. The F2 has the power of the FE but is a CR engine, like almost everything else on this list bar the Daytonas. Basically this means it uses your old gearbox. Closely following this is the Wolverine Reaper. While Ive found the F2 to be an easier drop in, theres no denying how quiet and air-efficient you can make this top of the line wolverine engine. If the FCU was better OOTB it would be neck and neck with the F2, and if Id not had to work so hard to get Reapers to work well in some odd guns itd be ahead of the F2. W then makes an interesting engine - the Hydra. The Hydra is made for all those offset nozzle guns. Im not a huge fan of the engine itself, having not-great experiences with it in my P90, but if you have an offset gun and dont want to design an entirely new gearbox (something I have done a time or two) its your best option. P* has made offset nozzles for the F2, but they arent too common (still looking for a PDR-C nozzle...). A few notes about some of the other engines. The V12 is trash. Easily the worst HPA system out there and not worth looking at. The Jack is the worst engine that is actually worth the time to install in your gun. Personally Id avoid it if you can. The only one I still own is in my Marui MP7, as thats literally the only engine that will fit in it. The F1 is just a closed-bolt Jack. Daytonas are extremely fun, but some of the most time-intensive, expensive, inaccurate, PITA to work on systems out there. When they work its cleanup on aisle everyone-on-the-field's pants, but they are just such a hassle. I dont put much stock in the ME systems like the Kythera, Reaper M, or Redline MilSim as I dont run many DMRs - though the option to forgo a battery entirely is awesome if you will never go auto. If I didnt always run LMG or SMG at MilSims Id probably have a few of these engines installed over the many FEs, F2s, and various W engines I do have. Now, since you didnt mention what gun I will go ahead and talk about the bolties. You have two main options - W and MC. W has the two Bolts, while MC has the sDiKs. Bolt is the older model that uses a battery, Bolt M is ME and doesnt use a battery. I have a Bolt in my VSR and its great. A real ninja converter of an engine, I can be audibly invisible 20 feet from a person with a good foam suppressor. The sDiKs are sorta like the Hydra to me - they are available for tons more oddball bolties, but I could never get the performance out of them, their installs are odd and have weird placement (like my MSR wanting the hose to go out the trigger?!), and they just seem clunkier than the Bolts. All in all I probably currently own some 25+ HPA guns of various makes and manufactures. Some notable ones are my Inferno PKM, FE 249, Daytona MG36, L85, and M27, Bolt VSR, Jack MP7, FE PP-91 (see the "Mosquito' thread on here), F2 L86, F2 AUG HBAR, and F2 G28LE/417A2. I am happy to say more about certain engines if you wish. You will also - regardless of what engine you get - need a good tank and regulator to run said gun. HPA is expensive to get into, but IMO needs far less effort to tune, and breaks far less than AEGs. That being said I keep a steady supply of HPA, AEG, and even spring guns in my collection, so I can use whatever happens to strike my fancy on a particular game day.
