  1. Site Name: Tower Airsoft Contact details: 07534636289 Website Address: Tower Airsoft – UK's Newest Airsoft Games Site | Billericay in Essex Facebook Page: Tower Airsoft | Facebook Site Address: S&J Action Sports LTD, Heath Road, Billlericay, CM11 1HL Myself and @Albiscuit had actually popped along to Tower airsoft before on the first of the Tuesday evening mini games, but I decided to wait for a full game day before writing a review. Full game days are on Saturdays only at this moment in time. We attended 17/07/2021 Tower Airsoft was created from the ashes of another abandoned Delta Paintball site (See my Cobham review for another). The same people who run Airsoft Plantation decided to take it over and turn it into another site which is conveniently just around the corner from AP. Tower airsoft, whilst an ex Paintball site does not have the usual obvious "Game zones". There are distinct areas, but there are no obvious barriers between them. This is a small woodland site, no undulation, Lots of different types of cover such as man made earthworks, buildings, low, medium and high foliage depending on the area. Short to medium range engagement distance. Good: Playing Area: A varied area. A section that has a large 2 story fort and Church both separated and surrounded by ferns and various bushes. A cut down area of forest, a section of road separating a tall copse of trees. A small area next to the safe zone with two opposing double decker buses set 25 metres apart with oil barrels in-between them which ensures fast paced and desperate play. Our favourite area is the Village and Bridge sections. The village is fantastic BECAUSE it is nice and overgrown, which adds much more to the game then if it was cleared out. No water features, completely flat. Nothing is overly special, but what is there is of good quality. Turn around time: The mini game we went to we felt that turnaround time was a little slow, but the full game day had a much faster turnaround, which exhausted a few people because of how hot it was! We felt the full game day is much better value for money then the evening game. Marshalling: It's organised by AP so as usual it is incredibly well staffed with knowledgeable, approachable and fair marshals. Exactly the same experience that you get with AP. Safe Zone: It's a fairly large area, everyone had a seat and most had cover from the hot sun. The safe zone is entirely self contained with the food truck, free water, setup areas, shop, toilets and game brief area all in the safe zone. Toilets: Real toilets, inside a structure. Nuff said. Food: The same people who run the van at AP, so you know it's fairly decent stuff with a wide selection and very friendly people running it. A credit to AP and Tower. Clientele: Classic AP camaraderie. Though in a more intimate and smaller setting. There were some really good players out there on the day. It was hot so not a huge amount of interaction, but we certainly pushed each other on the blue side. Average: Value: Good value at £25 for the day though didn't come with any food included. For what we got, it was certainly reasonable! For the evening game it is £20 and honestly, not worth the money for less then 3 hours of play. Safety Brief: Short and sweet. Covered most things, though sadly no bang pyro is allowed on site and gun hits and switch to secondary were not mentioned until brought up after the brief. Game Modes: The first game mode didn't quite work for me as there was some confusion with the game boundaries (Use of the Church upper floor) and the choice of using unlimited lives in one section, but just two lives on another section. The rest of the games were much simpler and worked better, considering its a hot day and people aren't quite used to Tower's newly opened sections as of yet. Car Park/Entrance: The usual mud/gravel track, there is some prime car parking along the road near the entrance to the safe zone, however if you arrive later you will need to park further away from the safe zone. Numbers were somewhat low due to the weather, but I do wonder how the car park would handle much more in the way of cars. Hit taking: Good for almost the entire day. However there was one particular player that I had an altercation with. They refused to take their hits despite seeing bb's pinging off them but then shooting back. I took the hit, respawned and tried to hunt him down again. Hit him multiple times with a pistol from one side of the tree, he continued firing at someone else and ignoring being hit in the body. I kept firing at him to call it, he turned to me, shot me and then called hit. I refused to call the hit and he started shouting at me to take my hit and that it was a 50/50 situation. I explained that I shot him multiple times before he killed someone else and then me and refused to call it. He kept moaning and kept pointing at me to his mate during this time who promptly shot me and I took the hit. I went back to the safe zone for a few minutes to take myself out of the situation. It's a shame that one player decided they wanted to play juggernaut and spoil what was a good day (A little). Shop: Not a huge amount on offer, the basics and some equipment, better then nothing. Bad: Chrono: The usual AP rules apply. Honesty based chrono, available to use, but not enforced, checked or tagged. At the evening game I and some other players were checked near the end of the evening. On the full game day I didn't see anyone get chronoed. It's disappointing, but it is what it is. 350 AEGS, 450 DMRs, 500 Bolties. Conclusion: An interesting site for AP to take on, it's much smaller then plantation, but has some areas that AP just does not have in terms of a couple of larger buildings. It's a very different site. I recommend this for people who want the AP management experience, but with smaller numbers, smaller games and less walking. The opposing double decker bus game is a real hoot and we enjoyed playing it on both the night and day games. So overall, very good! AP staff running it heightens what is/was just an average paintball site to something better. It's not unique, but it doesn't necessarily have to be to have a good day. Al and myself had a great time and we will certainly be back and into a regular rotation. Bullpup Watch: SRS only. Almost everyone played with an M4... Best Guess Map:

  3. I know some places use higher power limits than the UK, like I think a lot of places in the US use 1.5J for AEGs and 2.8J for snipers and DMRs, but I think the power limits in the UK are just fine and totally fit for purpose. When I was in Spain it was like a mix; 350fps on .2s for AEGs and 600fps on .2s for bolties, though this was over 10 years ago when there was very little organisation, so things may be different now (official airsoft sites didn't exist back then. We just showed up to abandoned urbanisations, of which there are LOADS on the south coast, and played BB wars)

  5. If you're basing this off of watching WuTube sniper videos, they're heavily edited. At the risk of it all Kicking Mustang off again, some of them take deliberate face shots to generate clickbait, go out of bounds, set up before the game, ignore MEDs, don't call their own hits, and add fake hit markers to big up their 1337 5k33lz and generate even more drama. It's not common though, eventually it leads to site inviting them to not come back, and sniping isn't as generally effective as they make it out to be, not at most sites on most days. You can have a great day when you find the perfect spot against the perfect cluster of victims, or you can get overrun and pasted in short order. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, the best way to find out the realities of airsoft is to go and play it.

  7. I'm going to do this review slightly differnetly from normal. Usually I'd take the AEG to bits and talk about the good and bad parts but there are plenty of youtube videos out there comparing the GBLS to other platforms and very little on what it is like to use one. I'll cover the elephant in the room, the price, later on in the review and give my thoughts. So this is my GBLS and I bought the budget/skeleton kit for a couple of reasons. As much as the full rifle is nice I was never going to keep the supplied rail and was probably always going to make my own verison (Mk18 ish in my case however this might change to a MK16 or L119A2 depending on what I finally settle on). If you have been living under a rock a little bit about what the GBLS is might help..or not. It's not a GBB rifle but it uses a similar design, it's not really a typical AEG but it uses a similar design. Confused? Well the closest thing to it would probably be the TOP M4 shell ejecting M4 but the GBLS doesn't eject shells. Inside the lower receiver you will find the gearbox and in the pistol grip is the motor. In the upper receiver you will find full sized bolt. Inside the bolt is the piston head and spring. The way it works is you pull the charging handle to the rear and when you release it it pushes the bolt forward and chambers a BB in the hop unit. You pull the trigger and this releases the compressed spring which pushes air out the front of the bolt propelling the BB out the barrel. At the same time the gearbox kicks in and cycles the bolt again and loads another BB. If set to semi it does this once. If set to auto it does that until every BB is fired out the magazine and the bolt locks in the rear position and you then take out the mag, replace with a fresh mag and hit the bolt release which loads a BB in the hop. I'm going to be aiming these next comments to people who have been skirmishing a while and use PTW's, GBB's and NGRS's. You know that way on a PTW you can get a quick double tap off quickly and both BB's will mostly likely hit the target. On the GBLS that's not going to happen. Well it will but you are going to have to train with it to get a grip with the recoil as after the first cycle of the bolt your aim will be off by quite a bit. You know the way when you full auto a GBB rifle and the FPS drops about 30 or 40 from the first shot to the 35th shot. Yeah that doesn't happen. The FPS is consistant from BB 1 to BB 60. You know that sound and slight recoil you get when you fire a NGRS well that doesn't happen. You get a very nice kick and quite a loud sound as the bolt slams forward. I'm not having a go at these other platforms as I have them all and enjoy them but the GBLS is just a bit different and in a good way. I'll do a few more comparisons to the other platforms so that the more experienced players get where I'm coming from. On the GBB it's great to have the bolt lock back making you do a mag swap, slap the bolt release and get back in the game. When I run a GBB (MWS, GHK, VFC, or any of the others I run) I'm always concerned that the gas I'm using which was under the site limits at the start of the day is now pushing the BB's above the site limit because it's now the afternoon and it's 10 degrees hotter. I'm also concerned that in the colder months in the UK I'm not getting the best from the platform because it's cold so tend not to use them. The GBLS gives me the mag swaps and the recoil I get from my GBB's but at a consistant FPS the whole year. The recoil is probably just as good as my MWS running sub 350 FPS and if there is a difference it's hardly noticable. On the PTW or a NGRS with a Titan fitted I get some nice snappy shots off. I don't get this on the GBLS. My first shot is snappy and on target but the 2nd shot will need adjusting (GBB people will know what I'm talking about). On the GBLS the trigger pull feels very real. I've heard that the trigger pull was about 10 lb but mine seems to be about 8. It feels very realistic with a nice break and reset. It feels more realistic than my GBB's never mind the PTW and NGRS. My opinion at the moment is the GBLS DAS is more realistic than a PTW or NGRS and more reliable than a GBB. Before I move on to price I'll mention the following. I ordered 2 Nupol 11.1V 30C Lipoi batteries as I thought the GBLS might eat through a battery since it's shifting the heavy bolt back and forward. I used 16 full mags today on 1 battery and there is still plenty of juice left in it so it doesn't seem to be current hungry. I had zero jams, stoppages or feeding problems with the 8 mags I used (although I did loose one somewhere along with a Glock 19 but thats another story!). I took it out the box, set the hop with 0.3g blaster BB's and was easily hitting 55 meters with accuracy and the FPS is running at around 320 (on a 0.2g BB). To be clear I have done nothing to it, straight out the box if fires flawlessly and that leads into the price. So £1350 for a toy gun is quite excessive or is it? Let's have a look at the other toys out there. Let's start with the GBB as this is probably the cheapest platform when comparing it to the rest unless you look at the running costs over a long period of time. So a MWS is around £500 then you add 7 more mags at £45 a pop. Let's also remember that carrying 8 BGG mags is a chore as they weigh a ton. Let's say you want to get the best range out to 55/60 meters so you might chuck in a tightbore and maple leaf rubber and possibly a NPAS to control the FPS. So you are probably looking at about a grand now. TM NGRS can be a bit of a money pit when it comes to getting the best out of them. £550 for the AEG, £150 for the titan, 8 mags at £25 each, tightbore, S hop, new spring and spring guide and possibly reinforced gears to replace the soft TM gears. We are probably at around £1200 now. PTW's are anywhere from £1200 to £2000 depending on the model you buy but then you have spare mags, possibly get the hop sorted, have the electrics waterproofed and then maybe have the motor rewired. God knows the final price of a full tuned PTW. I hate to think how much I've spent over the years on them. At this point you might be seeing the point I'm trying to make. £1350 plus £35 a mag doesn't seem that expensive when you don't have to upgrade/replace/rewire anything and it justs works as advertised out the box and is more realisitc and reliably than the other platforms. Are there any negatives? I know of 1 and heard of another but never experienced it. The electronic board in the gearbox doesn't like to get wet or so I have heard. Tell me a titan or Systema board that does. My only slight gripe is the metal mags rattle a bit inside the magwell. This is genuinely the only negative I could find with the GBLS. Is it the best airsoft gun in the world? well no but it is the most reliably realistic one out there and it's very much a nice experience using it. I'll finish this review of with a couple of notes. I handed it to about 10 team mates today and everyone had a stupid smile on their face after that first shot. I think a few AEG's will be getting sold off shortly to fund a GBLS. I'm probably going to be one of the ones selling other AEG's as I see that there is now a HK 416 GBLS. I'm not in anyway associated with GBLS but if you want to send me the steel bolt and Type B buffer I'm not going to get upset. Just saying.

Just got my TTI selector (along with a stock and another tti selector for my teammate), installation seems pretty straightforward: remove the stock switch, plop the new switch and linkage in (linkage goes first), screw all the screws, done. Drop the provided 4mm short stroke buffer and nozzle return spring if using the AA stock. Will do that tonight as soon as I get home, will test with the current Hadron SS kit

I think the sales guy is on a better margin with KWA to be honest: Which basically translates to proprietary parts. Regardless, it has a quick change spring which is going to be a help once you start getting close to your target FPS! (which is what by the way?)

  15. Yep, Update i posted on his item that he was a scammer and contacted the site to let them know, he seemed to get a bit upset that I’d sussed him out and he couldn’t do his big “reveal” he obviously gets off on it. He said I wasn’t getting the RIF and I could cry to my mummy about the £35.. I have reported him on fraud website with his phone number and bank account details hopefully that will do some good but I won’t hold my breath. My takeaway from this is don’t do bank transfer, ask for a photo of the item with something as proof, and google a name before paying. Luckily it was only a small amount and I walk away slightly poorer but wiser (and hoping that some day I cross paths with the little toe rag)

  16. All of the experienced bush wookiees at my local site are opting for 1J guns instead. The other two are using Wolverine MTWs and I'm putting a Polarstar F2 in my m14 once I've cleared my debts; with hop ups the way they are these days, 2.3J just isn't as worth it as it used to be. Also, not all bush wookiees go for headshots. And not all people who go for headshots are bush wookiees. Dicks come in all shapes and sizes (hurhurhur)

  17. It is a peculiar choice, but only stylistically. They're just toys, you can make most things work, and you don't even need a particularly long barrel to get the energy up. Stock CYMAs come in at 1-4/1.5J, even the carbines. Stick a barrel extension on, a longer inner barrel, and see what you get. Hopefully the fire selector on the "v2.5" gearbox works like a standard v2/v3 and you can just nibble off a little bit to lock it to semi. The one thing I'd note is that the standard magazine is pretty long which can limit your sneaking around options.

  21. Dude, irrespective, never, ever do bank transfer, or f&f on PayPal. as for your address, if he is trying to send you a rif, he can't do it without an address, obviously if your concerned about giving him an address that matches your bank transfer details, which I get, then give him a friends or relatives address (with their permission), ideally someone who's home a lot so there's less chance of him claiming "it's been delivered, your problem now" if it doesn't materialise. good luck, keep us posted👍

  23. My game yesterday was amazing. Very warm and very sweaty, but we played in an area of the site we never play in, allowing me to use a pathway that only a tiny handful of players (mostly marshalls) know about to plink away at the enemy team with my silent HPA VSR setup and have them scratching their heads wondering where the hell they got shot from / how the hell did someone get behind them in a chokepoint-y game. Arms and legs are covered in scratches bcause I had to fight through thorns to use it as it's super overgrown, but worth it. Also, I ditched the ghillie a few months ago due to temperatures / humidity / general sweat and eye-pro fogging, but I went one further and only wore a short sleeved OD t-shirt and BDU trousers while sniping and I still had people almost trip over me and be super surprised after I shoot them. Superior fieldcraft trumps a ghillie suit every day of the week and it's good to get the practice without it. Plus it feels even better when you go unnoticed while knowing you're not wearing the best camo. Maybe I'll try it next in a loud hawaiian shirt... I also ache all over today, which means it was a good day!

    Hello from Toronto

Tanto blades 😍😍 thanks for the response bro. Yes, declaring all your airsoft good would be the logical way of doing so. Judging by how you’ve done things in the past in this regard, I’ll probably look up to you for some advices in the future as well The Fiancé wants me there, and I cant argue with her lol Thats great to hear! Yeah I hope i’ll enjoy the new battleground. Judging by how the playing fields look like in there, it looks like it will be a fun experience Currently the Canadian parliament is still under the process of studying Bill C-21. The current status is still on hold as far as I recently remembered Its actually ridiculous how the liberal government sees replica firearms as a potential threat to public safety. If strong restrictions on legally acquired firearms isnt enough for them, theyre targetting us hobbyists. And as for @Mr. No_Face’s advice, yes absolutely. I’ll be asking alot of questions in the future regarding importing and purchasing or all other airsoft related stuff (sorry bro, lol) thanks for the response!

Steve - been typing out a reply to you at work. Once I’ve done a few deliveries and service jobs, I fully intend on finishing that! And to boot, it's the gun of a deceased friend, which he had sold off prior to his death and which has now found its way to me on mysterious pathways 😌 Hephaestus HTS-14 Groza, 1st version, with the early full steel silencer and a Pilar scope (civil version of the military scope, that belongs on the Groza but is extremely hard to find), Just need different mount rings, these look aweful. 40. The 'Lock Ring' Castle nut. The paint is worn as it is a very thin coating TM uses for all their guns. A heavy steel wrench will wear away the paint quickly. (if you are too lazy to cover with a cloth) The 'Lock Ring' was removed to remove the buffer tube, and in turn give easier access to the trigger box (while preventing further receiver damage). In turn, providing an easier tapping angle when I removed it a second time to inspect it. Your 'Suspicion' of it being taken apart rests on the basis of the motives of the previous owner taking it apart, despite providing a shooting video to show it is functioning regardless of what has been attempted. I shall contact MI6 to investigate and find reasoning why the previous owner of his own free will decided to explore the inner workings of his GBBR he purchased with his own money.

He’s also operating on Used Airsoft, under the name of Hugo Perkins with a Santander bank acct atm, which I have the details of, and phone number 07767320406 Unfortunately I transferred some cash to him before googling him, he then came back saying he’s got 2 bank accounts and he thinks the money went in to that one, obviously trying to get me to pay again. I’ve told him that if the guns not sent I’ll be passing his details and the conversation (on WhatsApp which might encode end to end but there’s a copy I’ll happily show the police on my phone) to the police.
