Did I hear my name being called? I play almost exclusively at Cold War events ran by Gunman and have both East German, Soviet and British loadouts. Now, at least within the Gunman Airsoft Cold War community (pretty much the only one in the UK TBH) we tend to operate a 10ft rule, if it looks ok from 10ft then it will do until you get better kit. Anvil Airsoft recently released a video on British Kit that you might want to watch, its on Youtube. Re weapons, the Ares L1A1 has had mixed reviews but is pretty much the only option for an L1A1 unless you can source a King Arms or until VFC release their GBBR FAL. I had one, it shot absolutely fine I only sold it as I play WARPAC pretty much exclusively. S&T do a Sterling, which I also have had and sold, it was a solid gun and had amazing range, it was prone to issues with the selector switch though. You can usually find them on Evike or elsewhere if you hunt around for one. As we are now at 1985/86 in terms of our story line we are also allowing L85s to be used. Another option, particularly if you do an SAS based impression or Royal Marines or Para Recce is an M16. I have even seen NATO players with MP5. We tend not to have Canadians or ANZAC. There have been players coming as French and there is a group for West Germans as well, which could be an option given the ease of finding kit and the plethora of G3s that are out there if you are determined to do NATO. At least within the Gunman rules we try to encourage people to stick with the main factions of East German, Soviet, Brit or US to avoid 1 or 2 people coming as something really out there and left field. Not that you would be turned away or made to feel unwelcome just that its looks odd within the overall aim of the aesthetic. If you want to do WARPAC and don't want to do Soviet I would suggest East German, the kit is easy to find and very distinctive. We also have a solid group of DDR players and the craic is mighty. Weapons are also a LOT easier to source for WARPAC. If there is anything you would like to know just ask, alternatively get on to the Facebook Gunman Cold War airsoft group, I also run the Cold War Airsoft WARPAC chat group on Facebook. Both groups are full of really helpful people in terms of kit and weapons. Its a really cool, friendly scene with NONE of the drama re hit taking or other shenanigans you get at a skirmish. The next game is August 22 and is moving theatre to China so there is even scope for a Chinese impresssion if you like. Shout me with questions

Cyma CM041 HighSpeed finally finished (are they really ever finished?!) Short stroked 3teeth, new air nozzle, ML rubber and nub. Gate MERF mosfet in the stock along with a HUGE 7.4v nunchuck battery...and space left over!) Genuine MAGPUL fore end with TM grip and Olight Valkyrie torch. Vortex Crossfire red dot and a tritium vial on the front sight post for dark CQB / back up sights. Obligatory Spitfire tracer unit with Airtac blastwarden outer cover and Ferro Concepts single point slingster (as H&K hate left handed people!)

No problem, always welcome to pick brains. The last game was only a couple of weeks ago and was pretty much a 50/50 split with around 40 players per side, so decent turnout for such a niche market. NATO usually have a very slight edge in numbers sometimes but not always. If you are interested in kit standards etc this link is the newly released photos from the weekend. If I am honest its more about attitude than kit, you would get more time to put kit together if you make the attitude grade of not playing it like a skirmish and playing within the spirit of the ruleset which is what keeps people coming back time and again. Soviet kit is dead easy - KLMK oversuit, helmet, webbing and done. Its what you see most of the lads in the pics wearing. We used to have more proper Motor Rifles guys but they seem to have departed the scene. Loan kit is also a serious option for you, I regularly loan out kit and guns on a break it you buy it basis, espcially to newer members of the community. You will find most of us have 2 or 3 of any given loadout, we tend to horde stuff......For crying out loud look at my profile pic I have an NBC suit and mask I have only used once as well as other random DDR bits I have never used.........it gets to the point you plan your gun purchases around you kit LOL

Find an old kings arms L1A1, mate had one of the first made & had no issues with it. Failing that look for an S&T Mk5 Sterling, considerably cheaper than an L1A1, used by radio operators etc, not many other options for cold war Brit kit. Jimpy ? This is my gun, there are many like it.... Ok poor start. New Ghk mk18 owner, had a few gbbr and liked all but this is something else. Had a few upgrades and hoofing .32s nicely. Stuck a repro m2 Wilcox mount on the vortex so it's looking nice, g&p dbal for nods use and olight m2r torch. What I really like about the GHK is the gas efficiency and feel. Anyone else use these and have any thoughts? Love the look of those RAC headsets, how are they in terms of comfort and use?

TBH I enjoy themed games and organised events far more than your average dust up although the latter can be enjoyable and good to get that between event fix. As far as Soviet stuff goes I tended to hit a wall when searching for the harder to find bits and pieces which I was looking for although there are always workarounds I suppose. I'm just a bit of a stickler for detail as I enjoy the kit building aspect which a major factor in my original question so that I can better assess the viability of a British kit. Given representation sounds quite balanced it would seem pertinent to work with what I already have. Some of the kits shown are truly impressive, admittedly the Soviet kit where the chap with the beard is in the khaki uniform with body armour and helmet is more or less what I was originally looking at when I first started looking at Cold War events. One of the kits I was looking into early on was either a motorised infantry kit or airborne infantry kit, due to having the AKMS and AKS-74 , as I was looking to put together a kit which featured body armour.

that was a ballsy move, but it's nice to see the gears of comedy still spin freely in the modern age. edit: as a side note, was chatting to my mate and he was suggesting there's about a 25% change in hardness with the stuff he's been working on. different polymers to what we're using but loaded up with iron nanoparticles up to 35% (forgot to ask if that was by weight or volume) he also made a point that fillers aren't the only way to increase density, i'm not a polymers guy and i got lost somewhere at the point where he started talking about chains being different lengths but the gist of it seems to be you can just make it more dense without adding anything, although not sure what the limit was (ie wether or not you could double the density for example)

Your webbing belt shouldnt sit around your belly button, it needs to be adjusted down so that the ammo pouches sit more on your hips/pelvis.

I'm back after my post almost 5 months ago when I said I'd be buying a TM MWS... well I got one, finally managed to use it on the field, love it, range isn't what I expected running .28s on green gas and I hated only carrying 175 rounds in woodlands so only used it for 1 game, probably going to stick to using it indoors only, also managed to pick up a Magul MOE stock clone at a car boot sale for £2 which means I don't need the ugly OEM one anymore so that's a good start! I'm looking to change the handguard, the front post upsets me, I did look through the first 15 pages of this thread and some of the more recent ones but couldn't really see what I was looking for, I gather I need an adapter of sorts? Tbh, I'm happy with the current rail length, a bit longer would be good, full picatinny is the dream and preferably black, trademarks don't interest me so I'm not looking for a £90 rail, anyone have a link to all the stuff I'd need or even just the names or products that work together? Side note, why are rear sling mounts so expensive..?

All as above ref the UKARA stuff, be aware though that a lot of US sites will deem almost everything to be ITAR restricted even if it's as simple as a clip on handguard!

The key thing is to avoid gas pressure bearing part, like gas blocks or bolts etc. Anything external wise should be good to go.

i really hate that, just as i hate when sites will change game rules mid-game in order to break a stalemate. for example place i used to play had pretty damn rigid "thou shalt not do the sneaky flank going this way" rules for a certain game mode, except when the defending team were doing a good enough job to halt the game they'd then open up the aforementioned flanking rules without telling the defenders kind of makes a mockery of putting the effort in to attacking through a choke point, which given the layout wasn't really that hard to do if you put more thought into things than simply returning to the same cover you got shot at 3 times in a row.

It's entirely possible but the only ones I know of which LCT supposedly have in the works at the moment are a series of MP5's. My understanding is that the KA L1A1's are more or less like rocking horse poo these days? The sterling is certainly an option but it's admittedly a bit of an unknown to me in terms of reliability etc. Admittedly I love my SMG's. Haha, while the Gustav sounds awesome it's somewhat limited in use

Could be quite interesting, but as @Samurai says, it could become quite stale, quite quickly for regular players if the layout is too fixed. @Enid_PuceflangeI doubt that the venue will play out 'tactically' once the Speedsofters arrive. My perfect CQB site would be fully modular (wooden buildings on industrial castors) to change the layout, low cap mags only (to reduce the trigger spamming) and separate game days altogether for speedsoft.

Manufacturing such a BB would be a complete ballache. If the steel core was not perfectly centred within the plastic moulding (thus creating an off-centre centre of mass), then you would get some very odd ballistic results when spun through the hop unit.

Just got hold of 5 mws mags for a load out total of seven. I now have 100kg of magazines to carry for the equivalent of 1 plastic hicap

Just tested mine on ASG Ultrair and 0.32g BBs and the stock TM bolt and nozzle kit. Shed has been warm today so all at about 23-25deg. Running a bit hot at 295fps with stock TM parts (should be a limit of 276fps!) DP lightweight bolt and nozzle / valve combo was doing similar FPS. Swapped out to AG v2 nozzle (still the TM bolt) and got it shooting a nice consistent 262fps ish even with a fresh warm mag and gas. Plenty of option to dial up or down if needed. Zeroed in the new Vortex Crossfire2 red dot with Unity clone mount as the old one is now living on the MP5 AEG (Blasphemy!) Although I had forgotten how much fun a GBBR was...probably run it on the 20th at UCAP VENDETTA.

Something a bit different arrived from the states today. It’s a Nova style grip and I think it completes the pistol-formerly-known-as-Novristch nicely!
