  1. Well that sounds like a complete Clusterfuck on UPS's part. I hope you get your order at some point. It could be worse - around 20 years ago (around the dawn of internet shopping) my team mate and I ordered ~$500usd of Paintball gear from the states. Never showed. No tracking number. Couldn't get a refund (no buyers protection back in those days). Seller (a major manufacturer that still exists) couldn't give a shit. We had to write off the money and forget about it. 2 years (yes, years!) later, a big box shows up at my mates house with 'Christchurch England NOT Christchurch New Zealand!' scrawled across it. Turns out it had been stuck in New Zealand customs for years because some dumb fuck in the US Paintball company warehouse forgot to write the country on the box. We've come a long way in terms of shopping since then.

  2. If you are asking if your parents can gain UKARA registration by watching you play, then that’s a no. They need to play the required games themselves. Note that if you want a RIF via another person while you are under age then the only legal way is for them to give you it as a present Thinking that a two tone is lame doesn’t aid in showing the maturity required for responsible RIF ownership

  5. No. Do your time like every one else, or get your dad to play 3 games as a rental & then he can gift you whatever he then buys.

  6. Its entirely UPS doing and I can make an educated guess as to why. It will be the utilization of furlough to avoid paying 80% of staff wages, they probably still have a skeleton staff on and therefore can cut costs and try to maintain their current contracts at minimum cost whilst still charging their customers for the previous service. Combine this with COVID shipping delays from Europe and Brexit providing a decent excuse for the delay and you have our current situation. It will be entirely management driven.

  7. I picked it up on etsy, I think it was labeled as some lara croft cosplay peice. I still need to figure out a better way to attach it to my hydro pouch - I pretty much had to cut holes in the side of the pouch and thread clips through and even use nuts and bolts to get it on and it looks terrible if you examine it: I was meaning to take it to a sewing shop before lockdown and see if they could sort something cleaner out for me. Any ideas, anyone? Edit: Got rid of the clips and used some velcro straps through some cut holes in the leather;

    Best Budget AEG

*Not a sales post* I've just listed what I paid as part of the "review" Also a bit of a longer read than I had intended, so no offense taken if I don't get any love for it, haha. You'll note I didn't put a question mark in the title, as I'm not a new player or even financially restricted. I'm fortunate enough to have been able to spend whatever I like on this hobby/sport/game/addiction, since I first discovered it five years ago. I've been through countless AEG's, including "high-end" purchases such as about £1600 in to a MARUI Recoil SCAR L, I also owned a TM AA-12, I'm on my fourth Scorpion Evo and I've even ventured in to the world of GBBR's, in the form of a GHK M4 and G5. Not to mentioned the hundreds of GBBP's which have passed through my hands. However I've never felt comfortable having a huge collection of RIF's which never see the field or I don't particularly enjoy using. As such I'm left with just four AEG primaries. Three of which cost me less than £220 delivered and I believe are the most"bang for your buck" I've ever had. So hopefully someone finds this useful, even though it's just my opinion and I've not had a chance to test the longevity of these. I won't go in to depth as there's a separate thread just for these bt to start with the cheapest: Double Eagle M904N - £150 delivered. This really would be my number 1 recommendation for new players or those wanting a back up. This one is almost the same as the even cheaper M904G but comes with a metal handguard which makes the gun feel even better in the hand. Long-story short, it's compact but not too small, lightweight but solid, takes standard M4 mags and isn't fussy about which ones. Has an easily tuneable mosfet with some great features and even has a quick change spring. CYMA Platinum CM.097D - £215 delivered from Poland (pre-BREXIT). This one comes in a variety of models and mine is featured in Negative Airsofts "Amazing Trigger Response" video, so I've obviously put a bit more into. However out of the box it's full-metal, has a basic but reliable mosfet, steel 13:1 gears and a high speed motor giving you 25rps, amongst a whole host of good internals. Plus of course the ever popular quick change spring. Specna Arms SA-E01 Edge 2.0 - £217 delivered from a UK retailer. Again these come in a variety of different styles but I went for the classic M4 as I was getting bored of keymod or M-LOK handguards. There is slight movement in the handguard but nothing that's possibly to be expected from the style. However the rest of the gun is solid and leaves you feeling like a character in a 80's or 90's action movie (I'm loving having a carry handle!). Internally I'm sure the parts are decent but the standouts are the factory flat hop and Gate Aster mosfet, which I've mainly used to fine tune trigger pull but obviously has a whole host of other features. Note: In order to adjust the trigger and more advanced features I purchased the USB link for £25, so I can plug the gun in to my phone or computer. Does anyone else have any suggestions they'd put forward in this let's say under £250 category?

Can't comment on their M4's, but their AK's have been amazing. Out of the box, they've been faultless - had to change the spring in one as it was a bit too warm. Plug in battery, mag up and thats it.

  13. Both good points guys. I just needed it for a game in December so it was easier to shove the Marui BCG back in. I will have a look at it next week, I’ve recently got my hands on a Angry Gun high speed buffer, so that’s something else to mess with. I love tuning this gun, it’s much more rewarding than an AEG in that department.

  16. That's hilarious, but I confess that a recent kit purchase from Poland went wrong when I accidentally put my country as Uganda (it was next to the UK on the drop-down box). The retailer was like, not our problem you idiot - you'll have to wait until it gets bounced back. I was saved by the Polish postal service who made sense of my Google translated email to them, realised a complete muppet had filled in the address, stopped it flying to Africa after it arrived in a hub in Germany, then arranged for the label to be amended and forwarded it on to the UK. Lesson learned was don't buy anything at 0130 in the morning when you are really tired. This probably also applies to buying RIFs as I find my willpower to resist wanes as the hour lengthens.

  17. My first site nearly 20 years ago. Shame to see it go. Mat Dean was legendary with his Infinities and a real ninja. There were lots of stories about Rob shooting people's teeth out. It was realy just the same story told lots of times. It wasn't deliberate,he fired his APS from the hip and got a lucky (or unlucky) hit. Pistols in the ferns was always a favourite.

  19. I dare say you've landed on the answer yourself in the question. When us... more matured chaps were growing up the influences around us were very much in the 'present day' category, ARs, AKs, 1911s, Glocks. It's certainly no coincidence that these are still the most commonly produced replicas. Cinema, TV, video games... it was all largely depicitions of weaponry that was in present use that time. Take a look at the same media now, geared toward that audience, the aesthetic of popular modern media to the younger crowd is shifting toward this look (refering to whatever that weird JG thing is). Especially in video games...Fortnite, Apex Legends, Overwatch to name just a few. Like it or not folks get conditioned to think this looks nothing like a 'cool gnu' because we learned what we perceive a gnu to look like when we were younger, the young 'uns nowaday likely have a slightly different idea of what makes a 'cool gnu'. Side note, my opinion lines up with yours. I think it looks wank... but I was trying to present an actual answer to your question, despite the fact I suspect it was rhetorical.

  20. I don’t care what it’s performance is like. It could be the best RIF in the world. But who in their right mind thinks that ANYONE is going to pay £200 for that absolute monstrosity?? It looks like someone let a 9 year old design it.

I've also heard that if you're getting failed bolt lock and there's no visible wear on the bolt catch mechanism, then try backing out the buffer tube half a turn or a full turn. This gives the bolt that tiny extra bit of travel needed to reliably lock back!

    Ebay Stories

I bought a match style fishing box and all accessories for pole fishing, from a well respected fishing shop selling last years stock cheap. I think it was about £400. Box arrived, absolutely no issues. Then a few weeks later an identical shipment arrived. Opened it found a second box in a slightly different configuration to what I had. Called the store, they said they would supply a collection. Waited in - no collection. Did the same thing again, Waited in - no collection. This went on for well over 3 months, fortunately someone was always in in my house. In the end I sent a final email, saying if not collected by this date it would be deemed my property. They agreed, failed to collect and I ended up with a second complete fishing box for nothing. But I had the annoyance of a huge box next to my front door for months!

  28. I have a few compressors for painting with. The cheaper kits actually work pretty well, The only thing you have to be careful of is they like the paint to be thinner because you are pressure limited, and they have a significant pressure drop when you first open the air on the airbrush.. Meaning you often get a puff of paint. Easy to work with both issues TBF. I used one of these kits for a few years. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Voilamart-Airbrush-Compressor-Kit-Dual-Action-Air-Brush-Spray-Gun-Paint-Tattoo/224160047368?hash=item3430fae108:g:W5wAAOSwmoxfYyw4 There's no regulation on the air, and the modes are just motor speed controls. They work fine if you can live with the lack of regulation for laying down base coats, and are not planning on doing super detailed stuff. For airsoft guns it'll do. Paint wise I'd probably use a self etch primer, then airbush acrylics (mig ammo, Valejo), and cap it with a satin clear coat halfords do a respectable rattle can. I upgraded a few times from that, but there's not a lot of difference in the £100 bracket and those. The next big step up is a dedicated airbrush compressor, Badger/Iwata make decent ones, or you can go the other route and get a standard compressor like Speedbird. I went a different route and got a silent 9ltr compressor that uses a fridge compressor, More expensive but I can use it in the house without the wife moaning, It's no good for tools, but for airbrushing it's perfect. https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/quiet-run-compressor-2/ The mesh is only needed for that specific paint. Anything that is designed for an airbrush should not need filtering. The mig ammo and valejo stuff just likes a drop of water so it flows better. Mig have a better range of military colours IMO, and they have matched sets so you can buy a specific camo pattern. https://www.migjimenez.com/en/15-acrylic-colors

  29. Generally, yes, but you can buy disposable compressed gas cans (which work out really expensive in the long term) and I've even heard of ghetto setups that use large car tyre inner tubes (yep, they still exist). Dedicated airbrush compressors can be had for fairly cheap - you'll find compressor/brush sets on Amazon aimed at manicurists to paint finger nails. Might be good enough for spraying small areas. Generally the quality and reliability of these units/airbrushes ain't great, but on the other hand you won't be painting fine details (like, say, an Airfix modeller needs) so they might be good enough to throw some Humbrol #29 onto your blaster. I'm about to jump down the rabbit hole that is a 'proper' compressor for my shed, to run air tools (and the occasional spray gun) - but I have to get an electrician to sort me out with a 20Amp supply to run a more powerful compressor unit, as domestic 13A power supplies will trip out the moment you switch the things on.

  30. Have still had no update with UPS on my delivery. Has been with customs for a third time for over two weeks. Seems to be scanned, checked for details/visa/immigration etc, and then released, only for it to be re-scanned and go through the same process again!! I had a look online at their Trustpilot reviews. I didn't think it was possible to have a score lower than 1. It is truly shocking. I noticed that a lot of the replies to the reviews were asking the reviewer to contact UPS via their Trustpilot email which is: [email protected] So I decided to email them and enquire what was going on with the customs issue. They replied a couple of days later in the usual corporate fashion with what is clearly automated and predicted text, with no personality at all. Simply stating that there was nothing they could do and recommended I monitor the packages via the UPS app. Another pointless process. Hope you guys have better luck than me, its now been just short of a month since I ordered from TG.

  31. Where did you buy it from? I would be strongly inclined to send that lemon back. It could be literally anything; a poorly fitted MOSFET a badly wired deans connector Gearbox connection has come lose trigger issue It is going to cost you time, some money, and crucially the warranty, to find out what’s wrong with it. Just return it for a replacement.

  33. It's a sieve for the paint to remove larger lumps so it sprays correctly. You can buy an official one or just ram some 100 mesh gauze in the top of your airbrush before you fill it. https://www.meshdirect.co.uk/woven-stainless-wire-cloth-100-mesh-0.14-mm-aperture.html

    Picoaab Mosfet

to be clear: semi automatic=single shot=1 round per trigger pull which is how it's supposed to work- exactly as in your video multiple shots when in semi-auto means one of 2 things: -a fast build with no braking that's overspinning (this is normally only 2 shots per trigger pull no matter how long you hold it down) -a mosfet with a burst functionality, which the gun may have had before it was changed to the pico aab however on the pico aab you will only get single shot or full auto, it can't do burst. if you want burst the easiest option would be a warfet, it'll plug straight in same as the pico aab but you can program it to do a multi-shot burst if you so choose.

I have some of Terminal Boys guns when he retired, Steve P and John W still connected on Facebook. Think you can say Tech Brigade is still very much part of my life.

  37. Yup agree as piman said, it was predictable and most other couriers and services have continued with very little delays or interruptions. UPS it seems to have had their heads in the sand and did not prepare for it well at all.
    1 point
  38. Agree it was predictable which is why there is no real issue with any other couriers. The got their plans and resourcing right. UPS however have messed this up big time. The requirements for import are now they same as for the rest of the world. Nothing they should not have been able to handle. This is a UPS issue.

  39. I also had the phone call and subsequent email to fill in a form and send over a ‘proof of value/cost’ (or words to that effect) earlier today. Certainly not expecting much to move anytime soon, mine is in Dobra Strykow like others above and has been for a few days. But having known the form would need to be filled in I’m glad it’s out of the way so I can go back to ignoring it until it shows up or I’m contacted again. Did find it funny that the email alongside the form mentioned if I hadn’t provided the required details within 3 days I’d be charged £13 a day for it being stored until details were provided... like it’s going to have moved anywhere within the next 3 days as is... cheeky cnuts 😂.

  40. Another covert ‘how can I avoid UKARA’ thread. You can’t, you shouldn’t, you won’t find a single UKAF regular poster who will endorse the sentiment. All of this looks really bad for a sport/hobby that is more or less entirely self regulating, posts are open forum and can be dragged up by anyone who wants to make an argument to legislate against owning grown up toy guns and kill the sport stone dead. TLTR: put £70 into a small business over the course of 56 days and then go mad ordering stuff on Patrol Base for the subsequent 365 days and turn your back bedroom into an armoury. That’s your option. End of story.

  41. Sadly I too remember hungerford & dunblane, the latter was very poignant for me as my niece was the same age as many of the victims at the time, & a ban wasn't a knee jerk reaction, but was a somewhat heavy handed but simple response against a system that desperately needed an overhaul. As for the politics, total bs, much of the changes in legislation we now experience come down to the opinions of those in charge, sometimes the motivation is personal, or financial, often both. There are people that don't like guns, or what they represent, in much the same way there are people that don't like motorcycles, usually with no valid reason, but it's much easier for the anti gun lobby to garner support, which is why as Rif owners we've got to be at the top of our game, to appear almost Saint-like in the eyes of the media & authorities. For this reason I'm glad that FB keeps cracking down on Airsoft pages, 90% of social media users are thick as shit, so when it comes to our hobby most do more harm than good, at least with the forums there's a more proactive attitude to do (& say) the right thing, as well as vigilant admin to monitor it.
