They realised that clickbait and trolling generates more clicks/revenue than portraying airsoft in a positive light. Most of the commenters on their videos don't even play or own any airsoft guns, they just get a kick out of the footage of full-auto to peoples faces from three metres away etc. If anyone dare suggest it's poor sportsmanship, they're met with a barrage of "Snowflake! You go to shoot and be shot!" (again, by non-airsofters).

I'd sit on the money and keep an eye on the classifieds. Nrgrs is a good stable platform and a less boring AEG but it's no mws.

Go check airsoft sniper videos from 5 to 10 years ago, before the gameplay style kicked off with Novritsch/Caferacing (they were effectively the first to strap a camcorder to their guns). Zero gameplay, zero cheat calling, everything was either kit related, teching, tactics or building an effective camouflage. You know, the useful information people should be looking for. And even the early gameplay videos, still from Nov (until he released the ssg24) and CR, just the slightest hint of storytelling, not much in the way of hitmarkers, just raw gameplay with minimal editing. The fucking Golden Age of airsoft sniping.

Tactics don't really convert well. What Airsoft is good for is moving with kit (most ranges will not let you move let alone run) and a bit of FISH is good for force on force but have found it teaches bad habits like holding doors closed, using soft stuff as cover ETC. If its a class taught with real firearms in mind and using Airsoft because of our draconian laws then price permitting defiantly.

Yep, as been said, sit on the money, watch the classifieds for what you REALLY want & if a good sorted package comes up from a seller with an excellent reputation, job done. Simples

Of course you don't "need" one, we're not talking life and death situations here. In terms of staying in the game as long as possible they can be useful when fighting room to room (even in a woodland village situation). Depends on your primary too, if it's short to medium you'll likely rarely even think about drawing it. Saying that, some of my most satisfying "kills" have been with my pistol. Anyone can spray 100 BB's from an AEG and hit a couple of people along the way but there's a real sense of achievement when you manage to take out a charging foe or skilfully clear room to room, winning the exchanges with a 20 round mag - of course the blow-back action and noise add to the drama.

As others said, don't feel like it's burning a hole in your pocket. Just be content in the knowledge that there's a guilt-free purchase at some point in your future. I'm actually tempted to buy a KWA RM4 T10 as had one of their ERG range before and preferred it (or at least the recoil element) to my NGRS. Overall it was excellent stock, the mistake I made was messing with it. I can't say I'm overly interested in the design the new one though as it's very much generic M4 with a M-LOK handguard, in that respect I preferred the RM4 SR10 I had but they seem difficult to find now.

We so often end up in a situations where we justify luxury spending that 'because I want it' doesn't feel like enough. My spending pattern is definitely more 'see something I want/like, can I afford it?' versus 'I have x amount of spare money, what can I spend it on'. If you've found something that takes your fancy that's ace, but don't force it would be my advice. With any luck the money isn't going anywhere, just enjoy the process of trawling through stuff knowing the funds are there if something catches your fancy 🤷‍♂️. I've definitely fallen into the trap throughout the various lockdowns and tier changes of spending money on crap I don't need to try and cheer myself up a bit, the way you've prefaced this would imply you don't get the opportunity. Sounds like you've earned that money, and congratulations on the promotion... now make sure you make the most of it .

Definitely a pretty unique situation (though I can't relate to the whole 'needing partners permission thing'), I dare say that the fact you have permission takes half the fun out of it. But with that aside, perhaps you've reached the chosen land that so few of us ever reach, you're simply happy with what you have and don't feel like you need anything else. Which leads to the question of am I actually just content with what I have, or have I grown bored of that side of the hobby... escalating to is the hobby still for me. Lockdown and the inability to play has my brain doing an extremely irritating dance of trying to figure out what it is I actually want out of my RIFs, if you're truly just at a point where you're content I envy you to no end!
