I just received this JG AUG A4 Its a bit heavier than the A1 but I thought the front end would balance the gearbox at the back and I was right. The balance point is exactly at the hand grip. Based on this I would imagine the A1 to be quite back heavy. As mentioned, it shoots well (20m in garden) and has a quick change spring system if you want more/less power. Mine is doing about 312fps with hop set for 0.2g Dual action trigger has a well defined detent between single and auto. (Taiwangun are currently selling AUG high caps at £5.38 and midcaps at £6.50) ...AND get 10% off with the code #blacknovember2 points

What Would You do?
Druid799 reacted to Cyberlawyer for a topic
So I debated internally what to do with this or even if I should post it, but I have decided to post it on an anonymous basis and see what the forum advice is. A couple of days ago I purchased a GBB pistol from a major airsoft retail establishment. The item arrived today by courier and I had my first chance to open it about an hour ago. To my surprise I discovered that this pistol is clearly not new. There are signs of paint wear on the sharp edges of breach block where the slide rubs it when cycling, paint wear on the the barrel threads and wear on the underside of the outer barrel from the slide cycling (yes I have cycled the slide as that was how I was able to see them, but only a couple of times and the wear is from way more cycling than that). Now I’m not saying the gun has been extensively used and it seems in excellent condition, but it has clearly been fired before and more than just a couple of test shots for functionality checking. Now my dilemma, I’m sure I could contact the retailer and send it back for a refund, but this is the only one of this particular pistol I have found in the U.K. that anyone had in stock. So getting my money back is no help in terms of sourcing the pistol I want and the one I have seems to be functionally perfect and the marks that it has will appear on a brand new one after I put a few mags through it and holster it a couple of dozen times. Part of me thinks I should just put it it out of my mind be glad I found the pistol I want and get on with it (in general I have no problems with buying lightly used well maintained GBBs from reputable sellers with exactly these types of marks). The other half of me is angry that I paid for a new pistol off of a retailers website and received one that has clearly been used before, however lightly. What would you do?1 point -
I’m with all of the above fine gentleman , contact them via Email word it in a none confrontational way and send LOADS of pictures so they know your not trying to pull a fast one on them , don’t ask for anything straight off the bat wait and see if or what they offer in compensation , if no offer forward coming to you then broach the subject but play it fairly easy in there direction tell them you’d be happy with a partial refund , store credit or some goods(quite often shops’ll happily give credit or goods as it’s much easier to loose some freebies as write offs than to refund cash) as an offer of good will for there ‘error’ over the status of the gun ?1 point

What Would You do?
Tactical Pith Helmet reacted to alxndrhll for a topic
Assuming a refund and sourcing another in a timeframe you're happy with is completely out of the question I'd likely contact them with whatever means you're most comfortable (I prefer email for this sort of thing so I have a 'log' of what is said, but appreciate some prefer a phonecall because you can be more personable) and explain the situation much as you have here. If it were me I'd likely be seeking a partial refund of some kind, failing that as @rocketdogbertsaid some for of compensation/gesture. What you'd consider appropriate/adequate is ultimately up to you, I personally hate it when the resolution to this sort of thing is a voucher for instance... but if that's of use to you because you plan on using the retailer again then it's better than nothing.1 point -

Nice. Are you going to do any mods? I would be modding/replacing the safety switch to give proper semi-auto for CQB - I can see the two-stage trigger being a problem at some sites. I just wish an Airsoft manufacturer was producing this:1 point -

There is very little to no reason not to buy directly from Primary. When I bought mine it came in really good time and they mark them up as "pneumatic parts for toy" so you don't get bashed by customs. They're a stright up company. If you wanted lesser products, Highpressureairsoft sometimes have the TAPP stuff in and there is a comapny called CT innovations based in EU (pfffft importing from US will be easier soon) but their adapters just aren't as nice or well finished as the Primary ones.1 point

Post Brexit Imports
ak2m4 reacted to Sitting Duck for a topic
Remember though if WTO & UK is a third country.. Then EU exports to a third country are zero VAT rated So if you buy from Poland you should no longer pay Poland's 23% VAT Then on entry you pay UK's 20% VAT plus any import fees It is a question of WHERE the actual VAT revenue sits That is how it is supposed to work Buying from Gunfire "should" be zero rated VAT to a third country outside EU, then pay UK VAT & fees on arrival in UK with the revenue staying in UK public purse If you listen to project fear everything will rise 50% or even double But WTO to third country means exports are zero rated1 point -
As it stands, it is almost guaranteed that imports will become how they are with importing from non-EU nations. 20% of the value added for VAT, along with the 5% Import and Duty fees (because it was Duty Free), then the £10 for customs. So for argument sake, if you pay £300 for a RIF and you import into the UK, your total bill would be £385, so you will have to pay £85 for it to clear customs, before your package will be delivered to you.1 point
-
No because it's something that's part of the Brexit talks in terms of imports and exports, txes etc and considering how they are going at the moment, no one knows. If anyone says otherwise, or you read about it, it's bollocks. We won't know until a trade deal has been made with the EU. Here is the advice by the Government on the Gov.UK website https://www.gov.uk/prepare-to-import-to-great-britain-from-january-20211 point

Thanks i'll definilty check it out! And aha thank you for telling me about converting the G36c to a G36, if the AA one is a clone of the WE, what make of parts did you use to convert your WE G36c to a long one? Did you just use other WE parts?1 point -
Interesting topic, and i think we all agree just dont pretend be what you are not is the way to go. For my part I only wear British kit. Usually DPM and yes it has the British flag on it of, which I am fiercly proud. Insignia wise though it's just the team patch and UNIT badges for a bit of DR Who fun ! I do wear a set of wings on my sleve from time to time , but I got my licence years ago with the cadetts so I've earned those. I've got mates who have served, some who are serving and some who served and never came back, and would feel that I was disrespecting them if I wore any 'real' unit insignia , not to mention doing an accurate loadout involves running around in way more kit than I've got any intention of lugging about !1 point

Thanks dude, love this gun and can’t wait to skirmish with it after lockdown😆 I’ve gone through a few mags in the garden and it feels great. I’m fairly new to airsoft and It’s my first gun, I’ve only ever used high cap rentals of which you have to keep winding on the mag after a few shots. Everyone on site kept asking what gun I’m going to get first, I would tell them the MWS, and everyone was like “no,no,no,no, you should get a cheap AEG!” then I would look online and watch videos about the MWS and everyone’s raving about this platform, I’m so glad I was not influenced by the people at my local skirmish site. 😂 My heart was set on the MWS and I’ve been using a cheap AEG for the last 3 months 😂1 point

Airsoft includes dressing up, as long as you are not making false claims then nobody really cares. (Many ex soldiers are of the opposite opinion - airsofters are a good source of eBay income) You are not a Walt unless you are impersonating and making false claims: https://www.arrse.co.uk/wiki/Walter_Mitty However, there are self appointed Walt hunters who pursue those that they consider to be walts and regularly go after the wrong people because the Walt hunters only have their beliefs: https://www.arrse.co.uk/community/threads/whoops.214715/ A genuine WW2 Belgian SAS veteran pursed by Walt hunters because they didn’t like his medal arrangement or the mix of beret colour and badge1 point

Druid799 reacted to SgtTalbert for a topic
Ive never served (outside of Air Cadet Special Forces) but to me, wearing unit patches is fine, non serving people do it for re-enactment so why is airsoft any different. For airsoft, wearing rank is odd to me as its got nothing to do with the loadout whereas correct gear and unit patches do. However, I will say, I dont get how people can Walt in airsoft as I'd say only 5% of airsofters even have the physique that could at a glance pass off as anything remotely in shape. Most are either overweight or a 12yr old bean pole.1 point -
Precise kit loadouts are fine, but regiment insignia/berets will always upset someone, & invariably Walt's behave like dicks, & that upsets everyone lol. The general consensus that many agree with is that if you haven't got the "right" to wear it, DON'T. Plus in real world combat situations insignia is close to non existent other than brigade flashes ?, Airsoft is most definitely "combat" based so surely the same applies ?.1 point

as long as you don't add on anything you didn't earn your generally fine. the issue is claiming or acting like you are ex military. There was a former player who was a complete Walt he claimed to be ex foreign Legion but couldn't speak a word of French. Everyone though he was a twat and he was eventually banned for poor sportsmanship after several warnings. So basically don't be a dick and you'll be fine.1 point -
