  1. Personally I totally agree with the players that complained to the Marshals and believe this should be dealt with in the strongest possible terms. Why do I feel so strongly on this issue, Two reasons: First it’s a matter of player safety. If a player is allowed to get away with this behaviour then the only realistic way for the enemy team to react is to treat everyone doing the ‘dead mans walk’ as a live player and open fire. This is going to lead to massive over shooting/over killing on the poor sods who are genuinely ‘dead’ and actually making the slog back to the safe zone/respawn. Yes there is an argument that dead players should have pistols holstered and hand/rifle in the air, but the reality is this only happens until they have withdrawn from the firefight that killed them and is impractical if the terrain is even moderately uneven and the respawn is more than about 50 yards away, particularly on larger sites where there can be multiple engagements between where a player ‘died’ and the respawn. Secondly, it is completely unrealistic and against the spirit of the game in an honesty based system that is intended to mimic engagements with firearms. It is not being clever or sneaky it is just as dishonest as players who don’t take their hits, in fact more so as there is no possible argument that the offending player may not have felt a BB at the end of its range that hits a bit of gear. It is straight out gaming the mechanics of the system.

  2. Cheating cunt. If his pistol is out of the holster he is fair target. Dead man walking has hand raised (or red flag) and weapons out of hands/holstered.

    Cunning or Cheating?

I say 100% cheating , no one keeps there arm in the air the whole time on the long walk of death back to where ever (gets too bloody heavy !), so you try to walk as none offensively as you can chucking out the odd “dead player !” Every now and again , trying to stick open area’s on route(middle of the field , centre of the road/track) just so hopefully you won’t be seen as an active player . As others have said most definitely NOT in the spirit of the game at all , also as has been said stuff like this leads to escalation and that’ll just destroy the gameday for everyone . One or two do it and before you know it it just turns in to a stagnant shit storm no ones leaving the game area because they know there going to get hosed so they stay where they are not taking there hits AND it all goes to ratshit ! if someone is walking in plain view in a none combative state then you should be able to assume there dead and not a threat . So yea anyone who does this is a cheat in my book and I have very little respect for you or your gameplay .

    My Son and Me

My son was younger, probably 9 or 10 ? (23 now), & I took him to sites where I knew the organisers well & the clientele was good, all on the understanding with the organisers that he had to stick with me & was 100% my responsibility, never ever had any issues, only time I had to step up was when a scenario included secret documents possibly carried by players & someone didn't want to take his word that he wasn't carrying any & wanted to search him, you can imagine how that conversation went 😏 While I don't think your lad is too young, definitely consider the site your going to carefully, speak to the organisers & definitely have a safe controlled play around at home in the garden or other suitable location to ensure he's ok with being shot etc, & FFS make sure he's well covered up, mums tend to go apeshit if their little chocolate soldiers come back marked etc, that'll end your life faster than covid 🤣

11 is a tiny bit young to play together with grown ups Think most sites say 13+ to play with older/adult players But I remember taking my 14y old to a u16 site once He preferred to play with older players in the end So there might be sites/games where u16's play Or you might have to wait till he is 13 to play together This info could be out of date and we are going into lockdown again it seems so take the above with a pinch of salt until you check what local sites are offering near you Now - in the meantime, if you have a garden you can probably do some back garden plinking target practice if you are careful. Here you can purchase a cheap 2-tone starter gun and closely supervise him getting his feet wet with Airsoft - first read up on basic common sense safety & eye protection yourself of course Spend some time with him plinking in the garden to see how he gets on, then with time you can make the decision if you both visit a site etc... when things settle down Depending on how severe, or how much he is on the spectrum, you will know of he can play OK on his own in a young group or you both together at some point Explain the situation maybe to a good local site, as there might be times where you get hit and have to leave the field/respawn where perhaps it might be wise if you BOTH call HIT and respawn together But I'm sure when the time is right it will be an ideal opportunity for him to mix with others on his own for short periods of time - which will extend as time goes on Apologies if your son is very mildly on spectrum, I'm sure you will both enjoy it - just covering some bases & possible examples where as a parent of an autistic child you will need patience, sometimes quite a bit of patience indeed

Hi I'm not even brand new to the sport, I’ve never even held an Airsoft weapon. However, I have an 11 year old son who is obsessed With the idea of starting Airsoft. My son is someone who has struggled with traditional sports, he’s autistic and struggles with making friends, so I’m basically his best mate and one of his only friends. I’d love to start a sport with him where we can collect things and be outdoors together as well as encouraging team work etc. We’re just north of London and I’ve found a place in Milton Keynes which allow under 12’s to play. Is Airsoft something that the more experienced among you would recommend for myself and son? Thanks!

    Cunning or Cheating?

Seen this one discussed a few times over the years, actually did it one time about 12 years ago when I first started because I thought 'wow what a genius move nobody's ever done this'. Felt kinda like cheating, looked a bit like cheating, has no place in the average game with no LARP elements. I've always fancied a US deadrag system myself for this reason, saves a tired arm if you're outdoors with a long walk to spawn. Comes down to a simple thing though - just put one in to anyone who doesn't have a hand up. If they whinge it's their own fault. I mean watch them for a second or two just in case they're switching hands obviously, but after that it is 100% their problem and if they get shirty they're an idiot.

I'm with Sitting Duck on this one. Airsoft is great for father-son bonding but I think 11 might be a bit young to start and that's not taking into account any behavioural issues. It can get very intense when taking fire and players can get quite aggressive with attacks. Not physical but running at you and shooting at you. Adrenaline does get high and being shot at closer ranges can sting a bit for a kid and you don't want him to have a bad experience early on. I think it would be better to get some guns to do some target practice in the garden together and maybe go to a game when he's nearer 13 or so. I took my son when he was 14 and he loved it. We still go to games together now he's near 16

Hi, great idea, airsoft is generally a very inclusive sport. I'm sure you will both be made very welcome , go along ask to be put on the same team so you can develop a play style that suits you and just have fun. I've got a couple of mates who's kids play too and its great dad and kids time. Do let us know hou you both get on .

  12. Here are the results. You can see how hot the G&P bolt (left side) is running compared to the stock Marui (right side). As I said the gas used was Abbey Ultra Predator gas. Geoffs Super Precision 0.3s and Excel 0.2s were used. Ill have a go with the normal Abbey green gas tomorrow and post up. I’ll get round to updating the excel too when I get a moment.

This is a 50/50, in some circumstances it's ok, but in some it's shady as fuck. I've done it, BUT it was a night game, I'd gotten in to the large enemy encampment & casually strolling around in the darkness as if I was meant to be there was the only way to access the HQ building (& blow it up lol), game over & everyone laughed at my audacity, no complaints. But to do that in broad daylight, I think I'd get the hump too, & let's be honest, we've all got the hump when being repeatedly shot when doing the "dead man's walk", if people started pulling that shit regularly, it'd soon descend in to chaos, dead players being hosed just because they didn't look "dead enough" lol Edit ps just seen that cyberlawyer has made the same point regarding dead players, soz🤪

  16. I've been lurking here a while, and I've had a lot of comments about these Racals, so I decided it's about time I actually joined and posted something (hopefully interesting to the community). So I got fed up with breaking and fixing repro comms kit for myself and the team, (now on my 6th headset in 2 years playing). But I didn't want to fork out £500 on peltor comtacs. I'm sure many of you can relate to this. I found real steel Racal Frontier headsets being sold off dirt cheap. The catch being they come with a lemo connector for military prr radios. I read the threads on the lemo connectors and the price of adaptors and custom PTTs and thought what the heck, I'm going to have a go at modifying a set to work with a TP-120 / u-94 ptt. So a bit of experimentation later, I figured out a tidy way of doing it. I've done a few with with a Kenwood 2 pin cable to go straight into a Baofeng, retevis etc. radio. I've also done a few with genuine peltor tp120 cables to go into a u94 PTT on your shoulder. And I have to say, I'm dead chuffed with the results. The custom ear moulds are made from polymorph plastic. It melts in hot water and is hand (or in-your-ear) mouldable. The headsets are pretty slick. They electronically allow talk through, but limit the volume, the radio comes in your left ear and the cool bit is the microphone picks up from inside your right ear. Even at a whisper. I also like that there isn't a big can on your ear getting in the way of your cheek weld! The set on my plate carrier is my first off. The ones with the curly cables are a later version where I've managed to do all the mods inside the control box so the cable is all intact right into the control box. Anyway there's my show and tell, I'd be interested to see what you guys think! PS. The diagram in the background is a different project - Music phone and comms in my snowboard helmet (don't try and put that in a Racal!) PPS. If there's interest in these I'll put a post in the Classifieds.

  18. i've seen it done a few times, whilst it's not technically against the rules it is against the spirit of the game. after all, people are (rightfully) conditioned not to pump more rounds into someone when they're plainly doing the dead walk because that's the literal definition of overshooting. so all you're achieving by pulling these shenanigans is making it so that they'll just shoot everyone just in case. if he wants to dress up in the enemy teams pattern then let him, and don't listen to him whinging about getting freindly fired as a result. one site i go to will sometimes do it, generally it's dpm/mtp versus everyone else but they only do it when they've got equal enough numbers.

    THE TM MWS thread

Oh my God! I just put two mags through my G&P bolt! It’s how can I put it eloquently running as hot as Mount Etna during a heat wave! I’ll update the spreadsheet in a bit. Basically I used Geoff’s 0.3 shooting 20 bbs with both the G&P bolt and then with the Marui bolt. Each time I made sure the mag was full of gas. The temperature was an ambient 20c. Then I switched to 0.2 Excel bbs ( hard as nails but old) and again quite surprised. So four tests done. The bottom line is the G&P bolt is running way too hot! The gas used was Abbey Ultra Predator gas in the red can even though it’s a green gas!

    Cunning or Cheating?

I already see this to a degree of rule bending / cheating: Players who put their armband on the back of goggle straps - I’ll happily give them an extra one if they really just want to be identified from the back as well Attempting to not show the arm with an armband is fair enough Even better is to band both arms, (though in the long term that doubles the cost of one of the site overheads, especially when using tape) or to specify arms such as red left, blue right I like faction clothing styles, but it’s difficult to ensure people comply. At one Falkands based event we defined the upper half of your body as ‘faction wear’. Brits were DPM, so one guy decided to be Argentinian with a DPM assault vest, he wouldn’t change sides or accept loan gear, so we had to point him out in the morning brief: ”Argentinians - please don’t shoot this guy in the vest, Brits please do”

    Tm Mk23 or FnX-45?

I would also say both. I have a lot of pistols, but what it comes down to is the GBB will be a better "they're close and I must shoot" gun, where the mk23 will basically outperform people's AEGs at a slower trigger pull while being really quiet. Both have their merits and both are useful.

  29. Double Eagle M904G (Honey Badger). Less than £120 delivered from Taiwangun. This thing is a lot of gun for less than some places sell Raven Glocks. Solid build, flat trigger with intuitive programmable mosfet (battery protection, 2 - 5 round burst, trigger sensitivity and binary mode). Quick change spring (was sent firing right around 340fps as advertised). Heck, it even comes wired to deans! I don't think it'll replace my Scorpion Evo (which BTW was three times the price) but if I was a new player and/or on a budget I'd happily use this at every skirmish. As it stands it'll serve as a backup or loaner.

    Tm Mk23 or FnX-45?

On the gas front some of the higher pressure gasses can cause light striking. And some will strike and open but close too quickly to have a benefit or decreased FPS over a lower pressure gas. Obviously this is also temperature dependent and also varies with mag/gun combination with different brands. I just use green in mine. You can just do the barrel and get 350 but there tends to be a common thread of upgrades that people do . Most notably a tdc hop adjustment on the most part.

Equally he may have ran out of bbs or he could have had a jam or he could have been a crap shot. All is fair in love and war. Only one bb hit would be needed. He can’t complain. But I get being nice to younger players. I do the same.

Hi-flow valves modded from stock and a longer inner barrel. 400 one is an old 6.03 I cut to about 250mm. The 350 one is the CJ one that sticks out a little on a standard gun, think it's 150mm.

I've heard of this kind of thing before and I agree with Cyberlawyer. Not in the spirit of the game and if done too often it endangers the true walking dead. It can be hard enough telling friend from foe with walking dead from both teams going back and forth. (Many don't have their hand up for more than a few metres) Imagine if it became a trend by certain people, the games would descend into chaos and practically unplayable.

  46. The peak in 2017/18 was not that unusual al though granted, higher than it's been for a while. Nevertheless it was still a strain of influenza coupled with the particularly cold weather so a known quantity. The current situation is down to a novel virus with no effective vaccine as yet. We are in uncharted territory and as such life has to step away from normality to deal with it. Like it or not, the most effective way of stopping viral spread is isolation. Huge chunks of the population have demonstrated their unwillingness to comply with even the most simple of guidance so we find ourselves in the current situation. Have the government handled it well? Of course not, but I very much doubt that ANY political party would be handling it well without the general consensus of the population and if this country has proven ANYTHING over the last few months it's that there IS no consensus among the general public, most of whom seem to lack even the most basic of common sense. As for Manchester, it all just looks like political point scoring at the cost of the people of Manchester. Somehow if Corbyn or Starner were in power I doubt very much that Burnham would be kicking up as much fuss even if presented with the exact same scenario.
