  1. Australia’s laws on guns and gun like objects have been very strict for years - just like in the UK they were implemented due to mass shootings The importers of gel blasters in Australia knew exactly what they were doing. This establishes the position of gel blasters in law. There is a lot of fear mongering among all the shooting communities, often triggered by an event in the news: Its an outrage, it only takes one of these for the politicians to ban x However if you look at more recent legislation in the UK, there is now an explicit statement that an airsoft gun that is compliant with the power restrictions is not a firearm. This shows the opposite of fear mongering. There are politicians who are anti anything that’s a gun, but in many decades they have not banned airsoft, paintball or gel blasters. There are retailers in the UK selling RIF gel blasters and stating that they are magically exempt from legislation with no reason behind that. Currently in the UK a compliant airsoft gun has been fully excluded from firearms legislation, and needs only to comply with the VCRA for RIF or IF status. Previously airsoft was a low powered air weapon Paintball remains a low powered air weapon designed to fire frangible projectiles, and has many grey areas, ramp up the power and its an illegal low power air weapon, load a rubber ball and it’s an unlicenced firearm, look at the VCRA and it’s 50/50 as to whether a realistic or just black paintball gun is a RIF or it is exempt because it’s a low powered air weapon Be aware of legislation locally and around the world, but don’t panic, just be sensible

  2. that required an actual law change and to be blunt multiple murders to instigate the change. At the moment the home secretary could wake up and say no more airsoft. official legal recognition has got to be better than the grey area we are in at the moment.

  3. A structured licensing system would definitely be an improvement, so long as it recognises the fact that in the scheme of things Airsoft "guns" are technically the least powerful of the shooting sports with no lethal capabilities, & therefore qualifying needn't be as stringent. At least that way we wouldn't get tarred with the same brush when someone is killed with a full power air rifle etc, obviously we're not covered against idiots waving them round on street corners, but every one knows you can't fix stupid 😏.

  4. Just thought I'd show you the state of what would usually fetch nigh on a thousand pounds in good working order. Everything but the reciever, grip and the frame of the stock is steel. It's a weighty thing. It's all going onto a Marui spas 12 to make a really hefty, properly fancy but totally skirmishable spas.

  5. Was discussing this with a friend the other day. I've got so much money tied up in RIFs, I keep thinking I should sell them, rather than be out of pocket in a couple of years or less when airsoft eventually gets banned. All it is going to take is a couple of incidents of idiots with replicas, or one with fatal consequences and RIFs will be illegal faster than any of our previous firearm bans. Mind you, if you've got an FAC, maybe you can get an "Airsoft" slot. I'd happily have that. A bit like an SGC, you can own as many as you've got safe storage for.

  6. again that required a change in the law and had overwhelming cross party support. the protection airsofter have at the moment can literally be taken away on a whim of one minister anything has got to be better than that.

  7. Like they did with Self-loading rifles and handguns in the UK? A license means nothing when it comes to bans.

  8. I know it's an additional expense but a licence is legal recognition which i personally feel is preferable to our current state where law makers can turn round and just ban airsoft at the drop of a hat.

    Pinion to Bevel Shimming

I had the CA M15 open the other day - I run a Lonex ultimate GB and an A3 motor inside it (So maybe not so CA any more.. though that's how it started off life). I noticed that the pinion gear was starting to see a little wear - nothing that will take it out of action any time soon however it will certainly die eventually if it carries on getting gnawed like that. Honestly the shimming in the Lonex is really good, I made a literal single shim swap around on the spur gear to space out the spur and sector a tad, but that was it, best shimmed GB out the factory I've ever seen. I remembered a video I watched some time ago which I thought was interesting, but then never got around to trying the method out, so i went and had a look for it on YT. I think I'll try this bevel/pinion shimming method - does anyone here practice this technique as a matter of procedure? This guy's channel is actually quite good btw - it's a shame as he's stopped uploading, last video was ages ago. For anyone looking for decent gearbox disassembly and reassembly guides, I actually think he has two of the best on youtube, especially his V3 guide: V3 V2

  13. As long as we're aware that compliant doesn't mean with a 0.2g plastic BB. It's "any missile" that the State wants to drop in there, up to a steel or lead BB, with the hop off. And HPA "tournament locks" are nice for game days, but they don't alter what the toy is "capable of". On the issue of realistic imitation firearms, we're skating on ice thinner than a politician's promise. Airsoft is a defence for purchasing only because of a Home Office advisory circular with no name on it. That could end at any moment without even secondary, let alone primary, legislation. Don't find excuses not to play while we can, is the nub of my gist.

  14. I actually stumbled upon this while looking for stocks after I gave up on the ACR stock: https://www.davescustomairsoft.co.uk/CTRbatterypad Check it out. they are custom-machining the pads to hold a battery. I've already preordered.

  16. if it shoots straight no point worrying what the barrel is meant to be. stock wobble you can try a thin strip of rubber glued under the catch so that when locked it's wedging the stock into the catch.

  19. Which is exactly why I support,by way of a membership fee,the work done by Ukapu. They have a finger on the pulse and work with government bodies and big name politicians in order to keep us playing. But for their work,I wonder what we would be doing now? But I do wonder sometimes how much longer we can continue as we are.☹ Regards

  20. Yeah, one would hope you'd be able to mesh a pinion and bevel both made by Lonex together - will see, might try this evening, if not saturday. One of the frustrating things I've found with shimming is it's easy to throw semi auto out the window if you shim the bottom side of the sector too high - the COL section that get's pushed down by the sector's protruding peninsula, is semi grooved meaning that lower chunk of the COL is usually only half as thick as the overall thickness of the piece, so if you shim it up from the bottom too high it sometimes wont engage properly with the sector. This always turns out to be the number one thing I look to avoid in shimming, as a result I like to shim the sector as low down as possible while still allowing appropriate clearances between all the gears, occasionally you'll get a an awkward GB and gear set where achieving that is easier said than done. In my mind, I'm hoping starting the process from the bevel and pinion and then ending up with the sector doesn't force me into the above scenario - but like I mentioned, I don't anticipate having to touch the spur or sector at all - we'll see I guess!

  22. Ive done it before a few times, although it can depend on the gears/box is the optimal pinion position suits with the rest of the build. Usually i try to shim the sector/idler as close to the left half of the box as i can get away with which reduces things like tappet plate interferance and gives you the most headroom for moving the bevel to where it's needed. Bearing in mind its not just the shimming, using a mis-matched pinion/bevel (eg an asg pinion onto an shs bevel) means you could get noise no matter what. Even using a fully matched set you could get backlash if the positions of the gears in the box dont match up right, one of the reasons why even a good set of gears could have issues in a certain box.

  27. Ok, so if licensed, Airsoft would take take a few weeks/months to ban, instead of a few hours/days. A ban is still a ban. Very few politicians would be willing to stick their neck out to defend a bunch of LARPers shooting plastic balls at each other in either scenario. In the mean time, the barrier to entry will be raised so high (assuming we follow Australia's model of a firearms license) that many individuals won't bother applying for said license, and the UK airsoft industry will slowly die out. For example, how many airsofters fall into one of these categories (taken from UK police guidance) 2.28 Relevant medical conditions include: (i) Acute Stress Reaction or an acute reaction to the stress caused by a trauma; (ii) suicidal thoughts or self-harm; (iii)depression or anxiety; (iv)dementia; (v)mania, bipolar disorder or a psychotic illness; (vi)a personality disorder; (vii)a neurological condition: for example, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s or Huntington’s diseases, or epilepsy; (viii)alcohol or drug abuse; and (ix)any other mental or physical condition which may affect the safe possession of firearms or shotguns. Any of the above could be grounds for refusal. Maybe the Government devises a lesser form of License and throw airguns in with it? Will they be willing to put the infrastructure in place to do such a thing? Who will foot the bill? (Hint: us) Maybe long term Two-tones will become mandatory. Maybe Speedsoft will become the future of Airsoft. Lots of maybes....

    Need New Fibre for Acog

You want fibre bow sight replacement pins. Measure what you have in terms of diameter, then it's just a case of ordering the correct diameter and colour. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5m-Fiber-Optic-Bow-Sight-Replacement-Pins-Compound-Bow-Slingshot-Hunting-Fib-I6M/233732294904?hash=item366b87c8f8:g:w8sAAOSwoyNc52F7

  29. Sounds like it's going to require a Category A License, which includes: Air rifles Blank-fire firearms at least 75 cm in length Rim-fire rifles (other than self-loading rim-fire rifles) Shotguns (other than pump-action or self-loading shotguns) (this includes lever-action shotguns) Break-action shotgun/rim-fire rifle combination firearms You would also have to attend a mandatory 'safe handling, carriage and use of firearms' course, which I heard (so could be wrong) is around $200 AUD.

  30. Damn, I wonder if the type of firearms license they will deem necessary is the same type you need to own an actual firearm; pretty messed up if it is. The thing that disturbs me most about that notice is the position of that carry handle and the absence of the lower quad rail - I am well and truly triggered right now. 😏

  33. "The gun was actually found to be an imitation which had been painted black in a bid to make it appear more like a genuine pistol." I don't understand. How is it even physically possible to do this without a UKARA licence? Doesn't the paint just bounce off? Well, hopefully some grifting local MP doesn't latch onto it and demand that we ban ALL the things.

Whilst i sympathise with the guy, there are countless people who want to take up a hobby but cant afford to, why should we help him specifically get his dream gun, especially if he's apparently too proud to run a budget gun? 40. That's fair enough, although there's plenty of 'wallys' playing airsoft regardless how much they've spent on their kit! 😂 Hindsight is wonderful thing, but I'm sure we've all been there and spent ex amount on something thinking that you've now managed to reinvent the wheel with your new 'upgrade' I've been playing long enough to know that an 'upgrade' isn't necessarily better than the stock part it replaces! Let people make these mistakes and hopefully they'll learn from it, even if they didn't have the common sense to research a little information on this forum! (People just want to be spoon fed these days and expect an immediate answer via Facebook) - but thats a rant for another time...

  41. No no, I actually meant TM NGRS/MWS users. Take from that what you will. It was a slightly tongue-in-cheek joke ribbing those who have a penchant for buying expensive TM guns and spending lots more money on upgrades. No malice or jealously - I just find it funny. Airsoft, after all, is just LARPing with toy guns. But no matter how much you spend, it's still only a toy.

If by any chance anyone reading this wants to switch to glasses to combat the fogging from goggles but held back due to using prescription glasses under your goggles, I recently went for some glasses that came with an insert for prescription lens and was expecting to pay through the nose for the lens at vision express etc, but found a decent place online. Here's the topic I posted about it.
