<i-feel-personally-attacked.png> Welcome to spending your kids' inheritance, although you've already made a good start with that 308. Decent enough choice, programmable bursts and stop-on-empty are nice features. Shouldn't need anything done to it beyond a barrel clean to get any shipping gunk out, although long term you might want to swap the gun and battery connectors over to Deans (or XT-60). Have you sorted yourself out with eye protection yet? Fogging can put a bit of a damper on your day.2 points

Reglaze My Spex - Lens Inserts
Spartan873 reacted to Brophy for a topic
For those unfortunate enough to require glasses for airsoft and don't particularly want to wear your glasses under goggles or wear contacts, I came across these guys with 5 star reviews on google and 4.9 on trustpilot, I thought I'd give them a go for you. https://www.reglazemyspex.com/ I'm short sighted and require some prescription lens so everything at long distance isnt blurry and I dont get a migraine from squinting the f out my face. I brought a pair of nuprol lens insert eye pro from here: https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/nuprol-battle-pro-eye-protective-airsoft-glasses?fv=7711 Firstly I emailed their support and asked them if its something they accommodate, friendly guy came back to me and said it was fine and they would be classed as full rim lens (cheapest). I'm honestly shocked by the cost of the lens and the quick turn around. I picked the most basic package which was anti scratch distance lens at ยฃ6.99 but with postage came to ยฃ11.69. I ordered it on Wednesday and was emailed all the usual confirmation etc and a member of staff emailed me a royal mail delivery label, which was for 48 hour tracked delivery, so boxed it up, put the label on it and handed it into the post office the same day. They received the insert on Friday and within a few hours of receiving it, I had confirmation come through that the order was complete and was reshipped out on 48 hour tracked delivery again. I received the lens today with a thank you card and two cadbury chocolate รฉclairs! Tried the lens out and checked my long distance and could see everything just like if i was wearing my specs. Hopefully the service these guys provide stay top notch and you guys can save a bit of that cash for extra "toys" ๐ P.S. I don't know if the site admins want to reach out to them but they did say they was open to discounts for members of clubs, online communities etc. Here's the pics.1 point -

Barrel length on its own doesnt mean much within the extremes. The other factors of accuracy make for much bigger problems to tackle.1 point -
Hi Mark, I'm 64 and hoping to start Airsoft once I recover from recent injury. The guys at alpha 55 are ,from what I've guage are a mixed bag of ages and are very welcoming can't wait to start so at your age ,I wouldn't worry wish I was younger.1 point

I have played more games this year during Covid since restrictions have eased and if Iโm honest a game that probably shouldnโt have gone ahead than I have all of last year I think. I have yet to come across a site I have not felt safe at, all but one had measures in place and made a point of mentioning guidelines (some more than others admittedly). Sites are still advertising games so I think they must generally be ok or feel they have done enough to be allowed to run. I personally feel generally safe out and about now and follow guidelines and end up closer to the public at Tescoโs than on an Airsoft field so will continue to play whilst able. I doubt Airsoft is likely to get the brunt of anything. Itโs more the unsocially distanced illegal raves they want to cut down on, and I can see why (even though I normally love an illegal rave pre Covid).1 point

The actual problem here is you bought a PC/cummerbund that's much too big. Adjustment should primarily be done in the back as well (as mentioned), especially with a PC that uses the classic velcro-up-front closure. It's much better to overlap the bund in the back, even lace it up with paracord, chop it down etc vs what you've done which obviously does the job on a basic level but adds a lot of needless bulk and complexity up front where you don't want it. I don't know what the PC is to advise any further than that.1 point

Welcome to the forum. The latest diktat for England is here: https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2020/684/regulation/5 tl;dr version - the 30 person limit does not apply outdoors if the gathering has been organised by a business, they have done a risk assessment and the gathering organiser has taken all reasonable measures to limit the risk of transmission of the coronavirus, taking into account the risk assessment. Hugely open to interpretation, but if you wave a pile of paper at Dibble and say "Risk assessed, distancing in place", I can't see him touching it. Indoors appears to have a hard 30 person limit, but give it 5 minutes and see if that changes. As regarding bike rides, rattle a tin for chaaaridy, say "Don't hug each other at the destination" and you should be OK too. I really don't see this being a problem for airsoft, particularly outdoors. The police aren't actively seeking out private gatherings, they're being called to them.1 point

Spoiled my fun, all I can do is echo all of the above. The ZCI barrels are decent and longer isn't necessarily better. And +1 to Maple Leaf rubbers. If everything goes well you can get results that are too good. I've just got my project M4 all back together with: Stock CYMA gears, cylinder and head. Stock piston head with extra ports drilled into it. New 19mm x 2.5mm nitrile o-ring, stretched and heated over the cylinder. Maple Leaf Macaron.60 degree rubber Omega nub, I think it's a Gear Parts hard, although it might actually be Maple Leaf too. ZCI rotary hop unit ZCI 21.4mm o-ring nozzle ZCI 6.02mm x 229mm barrel Yes, 229mm, not 329 - this is a chopped down PDW style gun. Plenty of silicone grease on the o-rings, no PTFE tape. With an M100 spring I got 374fps. I've had to drop to an M90 to get down to 340fps, and it's consistent to within a couple of fps. Air seal is everything, and most of the good or bad stuff happens before you reach the barrel. But once you've sorted that, ZCI barrels are pretty decent. I've linked to @ak2m4 for the parts that I've used, although as with everything in airsoft, your mileage (and fps) is very likely to vary. This is a works-for-me, not a will-work-for-you.1 point

Gg Cm18 Inner Barrel
Rogerborg reacted to Adolf Hamster for a topic
well there's your problem.... softer rubber should help, personally i find PDI W-hop or maple leaf macaron in the 50 degree range work quite well. depends on the model, but some of the raiders come with aluminium barrels of pretty shoddy quality, although the ones from brass in their higher end models are decent enough. shouldn't be too hard. air seal is a big one on a stock gun, when you chrono you want every shot chrono'ing the same fps each time, if any given shot is over or under by a few fps then it'll mess up your accuracy. a really good gun will have as low as ยฑ1fps shot-shot have a look here to see what i mean when i'm talking about air seal, although pay particular attention to the intro because it might not be worth pulling the box apart when you don't have a backup:1 point -

Gg Cm18 Inner Barrel
Rogerborg reacted to Adolf Hamster for a topic
again hudson is spot on, hop/barrel upgrades won't do much if you're still firing cheap 0.2's. for an assault gun around the 0.3g range is a nice balance of price/performance. flat hops can be cheap and effective, although can be a tad sensitive to adjust. the ml macaron/omega nub combo is pretty good although it can have feeding issues in some guns. i'd advise against R-hops, when done right they can work well but it's a pain to do the installation and odds are it'll make things worse. you'll also want to be making sure your air seal is spot on (your symptom for that is vertical dispersion/a wide range of fps readings on the chrono) and that you're keeping the barrel squeaky clean.1 point -
Check out AK2M4. They have a 380mm 6.02 barrel. I wouldn't bother getting a longer inner. It'll make it less maneuverable for no benefit, and depending on the cylinder it has, might mess up the voluming & ratio.1 point

Is how I read it. Then I read it again and... actually, I'll stick with the first impression. This is classic bait-and-switch. Do a high quality batch, get people saying good things, then slash the production costs and coast along on your reputation until people catch on. Helped along by Google's mutant algorithms which give heavier weightings to the earlier reviews because more people have seen them, which means more people will see them, which means...1 point

If anybody is wondering about what bucking/nub combinations are good for the MWS, I have experience with four so far - the stock bucking, the Modify Tan + SixG brass nub, the Maple Leaf MR Hop (60 or 70 degree) + Maple Leaf Omega Tensioner/Modify flat nub, and the T-N.T. TR Hop bucking for GBB (60 degree) + Modify flat nub. Stock Bucking + nub: +Accurate to roughly 40 meters, 50 meters on a good non-windy day and if the target's torso is fully exposed +Doesn't seem to get dirty too quickly, easy to clean +/-Decently durable, but you're limited to under 120 MPS/400 FPS -Can lift up to 0.30's only - nub is too weak -Feels smooth, not as grippy as Maple Leaf buckings Modify Tan + SixG: +Very accurate out to 60 meters or so on 1.3 J, 0.30 - 0.36 G BB's (capable of lifting heavier BBs, up to 0.40, decent accuracy out to 70 meters - not sure about 0.45 or 0.48) +Drop in fit, no need to modify nub - the SixG nub is a good pairing with most buckings on the market +Works very well in cold weather -Not very durable -BBs often curve to either side at the end of travel, some lateral deviation observed -Limited to under 120 MPS/400 FPS, I would not go above 350 FPS in all honesty Maple Leaf MR Hop + Maple Leaf Omega Tensioner: +INSANE range, approx. 70-80 meters accurately with 0.40g and heavier BBs @approx. 2.0 J and above +Very grippy bucking, decently durable, makes a great seal with the nozzle +Consistent FPS +Lateral deviation is noticeably less than Modify Tan/SixG combo -Omega Tensioner needs to be cut at the front and needs to be perfectly aligned or else your gun will shoot way off -MR Hop bucking gets dirty quickly due to how grippy it is and is a pain to get squeaky clean (you'll need to strip and clean your bucking/barrel after every game day) -Very strange issue - has no trouble lazing BBs on semi-auto, but BBs will fall out of the barrel on full auto T-N.T. TR Hop 60 degree + Modify Flat Nub OR T-N.T. standard flat nub: +Not as much range as MR Hop but even better consistency due to shape of patch, insanely accurate (it outranged most AEGs and I was able to score several cross-map kills) +Almost 0 lateral deviation +Doesn't get dirty as quickly, very easy to clean -Need to cut off front of nub in order to fit inside hop chamber -Needs teflon tape to seal better and prevent rotation of inner barrel inside hop chamber due to the bucking retaining edge being a bit thin - took more work to get this one right than the other combos In close to medium range testing (placing shots at roughly 30-40 meters onto a large postcard sized target, about 8x10 inches), the Modify tan combination and the T-N.T. bucking are the most accurate, though at under 30 meters the difference is negligible across all the combinations I've tried and the stock bucking is more than adequate for hitting targets at this range. The main issue I faced with the stock nub and bucking was that it could not lift 0.30s very far unless I was shooting over 1.5 J. In addition, after a while of shooting I noticed a lot of horizontal deviation. I could literally see my BBs making sidespins down to their target and it was getting difficult to thread BBs through small openings. However, past 100 feet is where the MR Hop and the T-N.T. buckings really shine. The MR Hop and the TNT buckings are on another level. The consistency of the T-N.T. from 30-60 meters is better than that of the MR Hop. The MR Hop is a little bit more "grippy." The T-N.T. seems to run cleaner. Both can send 0.40-0.45's out to 250 feet easily. The main issue with the Modify Tan bucking is that it's rated only at 50-60 degree and is not as durable as the TNT or Maple Leaf MR hop bucking. It also has more lateral deviation at long range than the MR Hop or the TNT bucking. There are numerous reports of people's Modify Tan buckings ripping from normal use. I don't see that happening anytime soon with my MR Hop bucking or my T-N.T. buckings. Apologies for the long post. This is just my experience and results may vary from setup to setup.1 point -
Restrictions on Gatherings and Airsoft?
Tackle reacted to Cromulon1994 for a topic
Had a number of proposed rideouts cancelled this weekend and this is apparently due to the police now having the power to enforce restrictions on gatherings of more than 30 people or 6 different households. Does this screw us for the time being?0 points
