  1. Ok. So. In short, I've been developing something since April and I believe it's nearly at the stage where I can roll out public tests. I call this thing the MOSQUITO: So what is it? It is a body kit designed to turn AK AEG internals (V3 gearbox, hop up, selector parts, and grip) into one of the smallest, lightest, and most practical AEGs to date. It was originally modeled on the PP19 KEDR. However, adapting for airsoft made it took quite a spin, so it has now become its own thing. It combines the compactness of a V3 gearbox with regular MP5 magazines which are widely available. With a length of 563mm and a weight of 1.4kg fully set up (prototype, final may vary), it is even shorter, lighter, and compact than an ASG Scorpion EVO. Just recently finished making a working prototype of a "MP5K style" folding stock which, when folded, reduces the length down to approx 340mm: I plan on rolling these out commercially but I will need to do a few alpha/beta test runs before I can confidently do that. And that is why I am asking for potential testers. I need people with an AEG AK (specifically AK) to test this product out and give in depth feedback. I will spit out some hardware requirements: A V3 gearbox of an AK variant (Front wired is ideal. A short rear wired one will not work as it needs to stretch out the front. See above photos for guide) AK selector parts AK hop up unit An inner barrel of maximum length 130mm No external mosfet. Almost nothing will fit under the top cover. You may be able to lengthen the wire and mosfet outside the gun to fit inside a peq box but no guarantees. A gate picoAAB may fit inside but also no guarantees. In-gearbox mosfets are ideal like ones made by titan, perun, or jefftron. MP5 mags if you intend to game with it. I will only be supplying one. As you can see, for such a small gun, there will be quite a lot of restrictions. However, I can say that it worked wonderfully during a game day on the 9th. Here is a test I did turning a skirmish on the 9th: What I need to do now is to perfect the selector switch, make a small peq battery box for it, and possibly a rail for optics. I should lastly say that there will be a cost if you want to participate. It will be £70 which covers the cost of stainless steel parts that are used to hold it together, as well as a roll of filament for my use. So for less than a WE GBB pistol, you get an entire kit. The final price will likely be a lot higher (>150). I will be conducting this test in a discord server. So if you are interested, send me a PM with your discord tag and I will send you an invite to it. I should also mention that there will be only 5 testers during this first test. I need to test the waters to see what I can handle. There will be future runs. Thanks for reading.

  3. I'm surprised to hear that they're advising you to make a fraudulent declaration. What sort of goods are you regularly sending aboard that aren't gifts? Are you sitting comfortably? As @Tommikka says, the VCRA 2006 doesn't apply to gifts, and nor does it apply to purchasing within the UK. It does however apply to importing. https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2006/38/section/36 "(1) A person is guilty of an offence if— (a) he manufactures a realistic imitation firearm; (b) he modifies an imitation firearm so that it becomes a realistic imitation firearm; (c) he sells a realistic imitation firearm; or (d) he brings a realistic imitation firearm into Great Britain or causes one to be brought into Great Britain." And no, convincing a foreign seller to put "gift" on the package doesn't somehow cancel out that you're causing one to be brought in. "Gift" isn't a defence, it's just not listed as an offence. The defences are listed in VCRA Section 37, except they're not really, since airsoft was added only as a later amendment following lobbying, and airsoft isn't actually mentioned in the law directly. https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2007/2606/regulation/3/made "It shall be a defence in proceedings for an offence under section 36 of the 2006 Act or under paragraph 4 of Schedule 2 to that Act for the person charged with the offence to show that his conduct was for the purpose only of making the imitation firearm in question available for one or more of the purposes specified in paragraph (2). (2) Those purposes are— (a) the organisation and holding of permitted activities for which public liability insurance is held in relation to liabilities to third parties arising from or in connection with the organisation and holding of those activities;" Do you see airsoft there? Nope, because it's not. It appears in a Home Office circular, 031 / 2007 https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/the-violent-crime-reduction-act-2006-commencement-no-3-order-2007-firearms-measures "The regulations provide for two new defences. The first is for the organisation and holding of airsoft skirmishing. This is defined by reference to “permitted activities” and the defence applies only where third party liability insurance is held in respect of the activities." Then it describes a scheme suggested by the defunct Association of British Airsoft which is effectively the UKARA scheme. It's important to note that UKARA is, and always has been, a scheme run by and for the benefit of airsoft retailers, not for players or private sellers. It provides one way of providing the retailer with a defence, but it's not the only way: the defence is simply to show (and yes, it's a prove-your-innocence defence) that you've sold it for the purpose of airsoft skirmishing at an insured site. Anyone over 18 is currently free to purchase, or attempt to purchase, imitation firearms, realistic or otherwise, with or without being able to provide the seller with a defence. However, importation into the UK requires showing a defence, such as airsoft skirmishing, or theatrical use. The reason that we get twitchy when it looks like people who haven't skirmished yet are attempting to do an end run around the VCRA is that airsoft sales are hanging by a thread. That Home Office circular is advisory. It's not law, either statute or regulation. I'd hope that a court would find it persuasive, but the only name on it is one Sam Hardy who appears to be a mid level paper pusher, not an elected official of any kind. It could be changed or withdrawn at any time, on a whim, by pretty much anyone else in the Home Office able to produce and publish a circular. It would not even require Ministerial involvement since there's none listed on the original circular. tl;dr version - the sale, importation, manufacture or modification of realistic imitation firearms for airsoft use could be criminalised literally at the stroke of a pen. There are regular incidents of the police getting involved with airsoft guns, with or without justification. If you saw the story about the guy livestreaming himself going shouty-mental in a flat in April and having his door put in by armed police, those were airsoft guns: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2020/04/22/dockside-armed-police-respond-man-firing-machine-gun-balcony/ Likewise I've seen a video recently of what appears to be teenagers airsofting in public woods and abandoned buildings, and twatting around while they're at it. It's incidents like those that are going to get responsible owners punished, so the tl;dr version of the tl;dr version is - play airsoft at an insured skirmish site, then you'll be in a much better position to understand why we don't want our hobby put at risk by people who haven't done that yet.

  6. I would have asked exactly the same questions that he has asked. It's not hostility at all, its just some basic questions to gauge the background, quality and value of your BB's. If you feel that its "Hostile" It looks to me that you don't want to share that information for some reason, maybe because we wont like the answer? To others it seems like you might be Gaslighting. Another "New bb brand" has come out recently who claim its "special formulations". But is actually just off the shelf PJ/BLS. So asking who your OEM is, is a perfectly legitimate question. The price is fairly competitive, but I want to know whether I am getting PJ, BLS or other BB's. Guessing by your price point they would be PJ/Goldenballs or possibly Javelin OEM. Why should I buy your BB's over the OEM ones that are likely cheaper? We are skeptical because Airsoft is rife with brands that don't actually make any of their own product, but buy from an OEM, slap a brand on it and call it the next best thing whilst giving out free samples to people who feel compelled to write a good review. So please, by all means front up your product and tell us some compelling reasons to purchase. EDIT: I think the packaging label screams a little bit "Cheap" to me. I would personally have gone for a slicker packaging that doesn't include a graphic like that. Look at some other BB manufacturers packaging, much simpler and oozes more of a professional vibe. Having .30 BB's at that price point in the UK fills a little bit of a niche as I have to import BB's for that sort of price at that weight. Will your price stay they same when the EU transition period ends? I would be happy to test out a pack of these as a comparison to my other cheap BB suppliers.

  9. In all seriousness we basically open the floor to letting new Supporters in now and again but it's a decision made by all existing supporters. Generally if you post frequently and with entertaining or informative content you'll find yourself becoming a Supporter after not too long. A target number of Supporters is 2% of our total regular membership (i.e. people who have visited in the last year). If you've not visited the forums for a year as a Supporter you're not counted in this number. Basically it caps us at a certain number of highly active members so it's a genuine recognition of those who make the forums worth visiting. In many ways they are the reason why our forums have done so well since their inception. There are a couple more requirements too but these are a bit of a secret. It used to be that you could buy your way in, but not any more.

As you said he’s not breaking any forum rules other than grating our cheese on here. Yes it’s annoyingly annoying to see his adverts cycle up weekly and push those members who sell one or two items down the list. That’s really taking the proverbial but what can we do? Diddly. Anyway, i think we have given too much time and effort to this topic. Let’s move on. Is there anyone whose asking way too much for anything Airsoft anywhere ? Tally ho chaps. Oh what’s this discord server I keep hearing about. Do I need to be on it?

This is a pretty common issue with mags. You can use the fuzzy side of some adhesive velcro (available in the sewing section in most supermarkets) to sort out the alignment. Either stick it inside the front of the magwell (although you might then have to file down the high cap), or stick it on the front of the mid cap mags. You could also try adding epoxy / JB weld to the front of the mags or gluing thin plastic to them. I like to use pieces of cable tie for packing things out - the ridged side takes glue well, and the smooth side is, well, smooth. I know it seems like this stuff should all just fit, but every manufacturer uses slightly different specs and tolerances. Fun fact internet anecdote, the STANAG "standard" appears to still be an unapproved draft after decades of practical use.

  15. as a consequence of your mods bringing this to my attention: Number of ads per week reduced to 10 from 14. Believe me, getting free money for hosting is always a plus but one has to consider that the Classifieds are a way of on-boarding new members who head over to the forums and have a discussion, not as a way to make money. We've spent all this time discussing people spamming the Classifieds only to let retailers pay their way in? Seems a little silly, but I understand your point. The return to the forum is - as mentioned - the fact that we are one of the premier places to list airsoft goods (and buy them). This attracts new traffic to the site (a fraction of which might stick around). In terms of making this a paid service and the logistics of that, it's actually not too difficult. IPB already has ways of letting you pay your way into a group and from there it's just a case of restricting posts per group (something we already do, because Supporters can list an unlimited number of ads per week). If you're a supporter, please go here to discuss further. The only way to 'bump' is to relist your ad after it expires.

  21. I buy from Hong Kong etc too, but I only buy certain items that I would trust to come from Asia, and also that I am prepared to wait for (even before Covid19) My newest received item was ordered on 28 July and received on 8 August, most items have taken between one and two months. My worst pending item was ordered mid June, I have tracking that it left Hong Kong late June and the estimated delivery changed to 25 August due to Covid delays, I'm awaiting that date to claim a refund assuming its lost, but I have a couple of items turn up after being refunded. I have had no issues with customer service quibbles

  26. Not a licenced or unlicenced replica. It would be a RIF or an IF RIF = Realistic Imitation Firearm, and requires a defence under the VCRA. IF = Imitation Firearm and does not require a defence. Core defences under the VCRA could be for theatrical or film use, museums, re-enactment or within the duties of a crown servant. The defences of all but re-enactment would most likely be evidence of an appropriate organisation, and that it is genuine and appropriately insured. Re-enactment could be the organisation or individual members showing their membership & insurance. Airsoft comes under skirmishing via statutory instrument and the law does not explicitly specify what a defence is but expects the guidance to be followed. UKARA membership requirements are in line with the guidance (because the scheme was formed as part of the consultation and collaboration. A criminal could paint a firearm, but it would still be a firearm. It would be rendered useless to a criminal as painting it as a two tone IF would lessen the fear factor of the firearm. Violent crime is often based on the fear of the weapon, actually shooting it is a different matter. If you are planning to shoot your victim then you aren’t worried about what they think it looks like. The police encountering a two tone IF are still going to look at it. Painting just the slide is not good enough, even though that is clearly common for airsoft pistols. The majority, eg over 50% must be one of the VCRA compliant bright colours. A pistols slide is less than 50% of its body. Airsoft RIFs and IFs are not toys, many also have the words ‘this is not a toy’ on them. They fire projectiles and must be treated with the appropriate respect Not everything that is ‘played’ with is a toy

  27. I’ve had my 19X about a year now and it was stiff to come off for the first few weeks. Rest assured that the slide will come off much easier after about a month of breaking in (maybe faster depending on usage). Love the 19X tho I’ve sent it back to Land Warrior twice as pieces of metal broke off from the hammer assembly. Just one to watch 😉 Just bought an Umarex G45 too. Love the front slide serrations!

  38. I'm inferring from your posts here and previously that you've managed to obtain a used RIF G17 without any consequences. We know this is possible, and it does highlight the practical futility of trying to keep RIFs out of the hands of people who lack a defence. Particularly as no offence is committed by the buyer (if over 18): I stress that you've done nothing wrong, and I'm making no accusation. However. The law may be an ass, but the fact (narrative / belief) that the current law is working and being generally followed is what's stopping our hobby from being donkey-punched into submission. The defence for airsoft use was pencilled in later after the VCRA was written, and it's still only listed in the law as "permitted activities", with airsoft being "permitted" solely by being mentioned in an advisory Home Office circular without even a name on it. That advice could be changed at any time, and the airsoft defence removed essentially on the whim of an anonymous bureaucrat, let alone a politician. So I would urge you to make your intentions concrete and go and play airsoft at an insured skirmish site before trying to obtain any more RIFs. Consider that once you're actually playing, and have a vested interest in continuing to do so, you may view these "How do I get around...?" style questions a little less charitably.

  41. So not only are you trying to import without an easily provable valid defense, but you also want to commit Customs fraud? That wouldn't look great on the sport of Airsoft does it? A valid UKARA needs to be written on the box of anything you import so that if customs find it in a random search, you can get it released easily. If you cant prove a valid defense the rifle can be destroyed and you in hot water legally. (Possible fine or sentence.) UKARA is the one provable method of a defense that Border Force recognise and has a form of access to. Read what happened to me and I was lucky enough to have a UKARA number on the box and could insist on them checking it as proof of my defense. https://airsoft-forums.uk/topic/47276-rs-t97-is-home/

  45. So i have an update... found a phone number for the company in japan and phoned them and spoke to someone in english. I explained how the shells were critical to the operation of the gun and that there were no restrictions on importing them, especially as they are a part of the gun, and confirmed my UKARA number and they have ordered the shipping staff to put the shells back into the box. Thankfully the guy i spoke to said he goes airsofting in japan, so he understood what i was saying, and he believes the shipping staff were acting on restrictions for the US, as that is their main customer base for airsoft guns, and also the one with the strictest regulations. Parcel has shipped, so hopefully i will have it within the next week or so, depending on any delays at customs

  46. Back in the day when I found big game scenarios the respawn was your starting point. This would mean walking out of the woods safe zone on the middle of one side of the field, then walking half the length of a field to spawn and half the length of a field to find a firefight. If then walk was shorter then you were losing. If one side has the major advantage and is constantly winning then it’s for the organisers to balance things out. Players are paying customers, there is no value for money in the fun to £ ratio for both winners and losers if it’s a landslide a stalemate. You need different objectives and different scoring methods, for example stopping counting kills saves the need to count them. If owning land and locations is the be all and end all then it goes stale. Instead of ‘blue held 5 locations, red held 5 locations and nobody managed to capture the one in the middle’ Mix up the locations so when one is captured the next points are somewhere else, also look at time points such as scoring who has an objective at a fixed time - you battle for it, but half an hour before scoring it’s not worth the battle to just hold it - as people are hit drop back to spawn, form up a strong group and recapture 5 or 10 minutes before scoring. Then once the Marshall allocates the score head off to the next objective. This moves the game flow around and can change a single losing battle into a more interesting swing between sides It was common back then to count eliminations, you were either counted as you left or as you rentered. This loses one or two marshalls to doing the admin of counting. I very much dislike the spawning method of going back a short distance and turning around, it’s open to ‘cheating’ ( not much point as it’s a matter of seconds, but I’ve seen it) or people who don’t know the distance so they do a quick turnaround or a long stroll. I prefer additional spawn points: flag stations spaced out across the field - someone needs to flip the flag first whilst live, then you just go to the nearest location with your flag. Mobile spawn Marshall’s - they stand around with a flag, and will follow the action. They may choose where to go themselves or they may be directed by a faction commander. The Marshall is able to spawn players as if they are a medic, count them if they are being scored and watch the game for safety A similar thing can be done with an appointed player medic - that saves on using a Marshall and the faction leader has more of a choice on where to place them. eg if you are in the big front line firefight then you are among many and can go looking for the medic or a spawn location (even walking back to the start). The mobile medic can be put in a ‘valuable’ location such as where there is a push or a smaller group trying to break through the line or to a specific objective Normally you want to keep medics out of the direct line of fire but they could be sneaking as close as possible I’ve experimented with many different medic rules, they all have advantages and disadvantages in how we want gameplay to flow. For a couple of events we had ‘combat medics’ with a hole punch who can mark your player card a set number of times. When you were hit you had the choice of walking to a nearby mobile spawn point (Marshall flag) or you stay where you are and call the medic. They then had to successfully get to you, but in a hot spot you could keep the ground that you had gained
