  2. **Op, the following advice is simply that and has no basis in LAW or any form of actually legality but is based on over 20 years of Airsoft experience** Do what you want with your guns. Spray them, stick bits on, take bits off, call them Suzanne. Do not sell them to kids. Do not take them out in public and keep them out of the sight of the general public while traveling. Do not do it in front of a cop or film yourself doing it and then publish it online. Do not do anything with them that would be classed as "twattish" Avoid doing that. Keep your guns safe at home. Use them either on private land away from public eyes or at a skirmish site. Follow these simple rules and no one in the world is going to give a single *expletive* about you and your RIFs.

  4. Just saw this movie on Netflix (out since July 10th) and quite liked it. Without giving too much away, apart from some unconventional plot elements (if you've seen it you know what I mean) the gunplay in the fighting scenes is quite fun to watch. 8/10, would recommend.

  5. Less than an hour up the road you will have Edinburgh Airsoft (Land Warriors site) Enemy Down , regular players are still waiting on a definitive answer if it is even going to open again after C-19 lockdown. Battle Zone , just north of Edinburgh near the Forth Bridge’s (Dalmeny) The Fort - Kirkcaldy 20 mins from Edinburgh across the Bridge πŸ‘

  6. That's a bit in the back of beyond. As far as I'm aware there's not much South of Elvanfoot, so you're looking at: Section 8 in Shotts, big site but mostly trees and ditches. Biohazard in Stevenston, who run one of those awful "justs aks us on Fasebook, m8" booking systems. Hammer 2 Operations in some undisclosed location out towards Ayr if they ever get restarted. And of course the Depot in Castlemilk, Glasgow, where you'll find the quality players. None of them re-opened yet, but even Nippy Sturgeon can't keep us locked down forever.

    Grenades

Had a thunder b go off in a mates hand once and whilst it smarted some it didnt break the skin or do any real damage and that was without gloves. However that also demonstrates the point that they can slow-det when given a hard enough jolt. They can also fail to burst leaving you with it ready to go at any moment and i guarantee it'll only burst the moment you bend down to pick it up (ask me how i know). However the rest of that statement is bang on the money; they're expensive and the det time is anywhere from 0.5s to just venting gas and never bursting. Like i said above, when they do work properly they're amazing, and loud as you like, but that'll be a very rare occasion. The problem i have with bfg's is the same problem i have with all reusable grenades- you gotta go pick it up after and hope it hasnt been pinched in the interim.

Life is harsh - fitness falls of 20x faster than I goes on! Where do you play! Fall pits, that don't sound like fun!! My weakness is patience, it usually runs out 2 nano seconds before it would have been epic πŸ™ˆ My pistol work is well rusty these days, mostly in part to hardly playing in the last 18months due to work and Covid pandemic.

  17. Then you'll be fine. Nobody at an airsoft site is going to care whether you have two-tone or RIFs, or how you got either of them. The only way that modification is going to be an issue is if you're already come to the attention of the State, at which point your problem is the S19 offence. And you already know the score with that from airgun shooting - just be prepared to explain why you're in possession. Beyond that, it's all good.

Like with all shooting related hobbies everyone dreads to hear the news of some idiot being stupid and ruining it for everyone else, fearing that we would lose the right to enjoy the sport.

    Advice for First Gun

Hello and welcome to the forum. Both of those make good arguments for themselves. Based on the UK specs that I can find, both have quick change springs and ball bearing bushings, the Lancer has a 6.03mm barrel and comes with a decent capacity 1600mAh NiMh battery. The Recon has a 6.01mm (!) barrel and a rotary hop, but no battery - not a huge deal as it makes sense to switch to Lipo or Life as soon as possible, so you'll want to budget for that either way. The quick change springs mean that the quoted FPS isn't that important as you can easily change either of them just by throwing in a new spring for about $10. Initially though you'll just want to give the barrel and hop rubber a clean, dial the hop in, feed them 0.25g BBs, or 0.28g if they'll lift those and your budget allows, and get out there and play. Based on the specs, I'd lean very slightly towards the Recon as I'd be changing to lipo straight away anyway. However if you just want to grab one and play, the Lancer will get you out there without having to spend another penny. I think either would be just fine, and if you have the opportunity to handle them before buying, I'd just go with whichever one feels best to you.

  25. The law is that "[modifying] an imitation firearm so that it becomes a realistic imitation firearm" is an offence, see http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2006/38/section/36 There's no distinction between permanent and temporary. The offence is committed each and every time that you do it. Doing so for airsoft use is a defence. If you've got a skirmish booked at a site, I'd argue that you're good to go since the defence is about future intentions, not past behaviour. However, it would be better if you've played, and are booked to play again. And best if you've played at least three times over at least two months, and got UKARA or equivalent. Other opinions are available, this is not legal advice, and I'd stress that the defence is on you to adduce, so "intending to book" won't cut it. If you already have RIFs, those are good. You don't have to do a thing to them, as ownership isn't an offence. However, being in possession of any imitation firearm, realistic or otherwise, in a public place is an offence, see http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1968/27/section/19 So whenever you're on your way to or from an airsoft skirmish, have details of where you're going, or where you've been to hand. This applies to everyone, regardless of whether we have UKARA or not - what matters is the reason for being in possession at the time when it comes to the attention of the State.

I'm looking to join a club (AWA Herts once it opens up). I purchased the King Arms PDW (MP5 mag variant). Because its compact and the MP5 mags take up around half the space as a M4/AR15 mag. It has a 2.5-10x40 scope attached. A PTK clone (I think) made by FAB Defence, backup iron sights on the side for cqc (pistol range) rail covers and a modified silencer (still experimenting with 3d printed baffles). Being a DIY/improv type of guy I used carabiners for the sling points. I don't know why but I kind of like the blue on this...

  30. Well, thats another quarantine project done. Introducing the HK 417a2. It started life as two G28s; G28 LE #227 and G28 standard #IDontCareEnoughToCheck. #227 was my original G28 LE that Ive had for awhile, but it just kind of sat around as it was heavy, loud, and comparatively ineffective at range compared to my other DMRs. I wanted to upgrade it, but I wasn't sure what to do. Then comes the standard. I bought the standard off a secondhand airsoft app in November of 2019. It was a bastardization of a 417 and G28 - G28 receivers, grip, and outer barrel, but 417 buffer tube, stock, and rail. I didnt really care as it was dirt cheap and already had some decent upgrades in it. Turns out I should have cared, as not a month later the lower receiver cracked. Real bad. It may be repairable but itll be obvious. So I was left with a semi-upgraded but broken G417 and a stock G28 LE. Now, between these two I built a 417 for a mate. I believe I posted it here, but it involved making a custom fitting to mount a PTS UBR stock to it. I looks good, and works well. It also gave me some experience building 417s that I didn't have before, and it gave me an appreciation for the "Battle Rifle" class of weapon. Essentially, a BR is a carbine-length DMR. This would include short-barreled AR-10s, Scar mk17s, etc. In airsoft you follow rifleman rules. It just looks fancier. Around this time I started toying with the idea of creating my own BR, but in typical Spaz fashion it had to kind of stand out. Knowing how much of a pain VFC mk17s are to upgrade, I shied away from them, but 417s are expensive, with an approx $450 price tag. Add in the $500ish in internals I would have to do to field it and things weren't looking too good on that front either... Plus, there arent many aftermarket externals for the VFC 417s, and my squadmate already runs the one I built him. Then this broken G28 shows up and I had an idea... Until this year, I always preferred my guns having a dedicated setup. My M27 stays as it is, its sights are zeroed, I dont pull attachments from other guns, etc. However, with me recently turning my VFC Jag Arms PHX-15 SBR (see previous page) into a hybrid Krytac LMG with a second upper, I started thinking of doing the same with my G28 LE. I mean, if I built a lower based around trigger response why wouldn't it work in a DMR as well as a BR? So I began working on it. In this period I saw the news from SHOT that HK had revamped their 417 program into a new model - the HK 417a2. Shiny, new, not made in airsoft to date, and best of all - in RAL8000, just like my spare G28 receivers. So to begin I stripped the 417 sniper parts off the standard and sold them. No need for them, so why not. Ill make someone else happy. Bought a 417 short rail off someone selling one. Ordered a short outer barrel and gas impingement system from VFC. Started asking for quotes from various techs I trust on AEG gearboxes. Started looking into HPA as well, cause why not. Decided to go HPA as it'd be about the same cost, and more importantly, much quieter. Ordered a REVO kit from Italy (3D printed kit that allows the G28 to take aftermarket triggers, more HPA engines, standard M4 hops, and more). Ordered one of the new Wolverine Reaper Gen 2 Premium engines. Ordered a speed trigger, the internals needed to make the revo kit work, and an r-hopped barrel from the guy I always get my barrels from. Then it was onto externals. Ordered a fully trademarked Eotech XPS, G33 magnifier, KAC irons (closest I could find to gen 2 HK 417 irons - wasnt going to pay that much for the real thing - the rear sight alone is $300...), a Magpul AFG, a Surefire M600DF, and one of my signature blue-lasered PEQs. Rail arrived, and it sent it off with another project that will be unveiled here soon to be cerakoted in RAL8000. Rail returns, and most attachments come in. Decide I need a case, so pick up a Eylar 53in rifle case. Big, but i figured I'd need it. Case arrives, REVO kit arrives, Reaper arrives, bipod ordered and arrives. Install what I can, but Im still waiting for the order from VFC. Rest of the externals come in. Barrel from VFC finally arrived this morning, so in it went, gun went together, foam was plucked, and the HK 417a2/G28 project was complete. Now I can switch back and forth from G28 or 417a2 on the field depending on the role I want to play. The REVO kit also allows for full auto, so if the game allows it that is available. A fun project, a real head-turner (I hope), and it should have excellent range and accuracy. Im happy. Every part that should be is also trademarked, which really adds to the overall look.

Yesterday I mocked up roughly how a want my SCAR H to look. The final version of the rail is currently being printed. I need to print a stock adapter as the one I want is discontinued, a replacement gas plug as that was missing and maybe a new charging handle. Then I'm getting a stock and folding stock adapter, new scope mount, fluted outer barrel, 2 port long muzzle brake (if I can find one in stock anywhere) and CYMA SR-25 P-Mags modified to fit the SCAR and hopefully some 7.62 ranger plates. After that it's on to internals. It's getting a full rebuild including a MAXX hopup and being modified to fit a V2.5 gearbox

Well, while I wait for my outer barrel order from VFC to arrive so I can finally complete my 417a2 project (its been 4 months...), Ive been working on various other projects. About a month ago I got a great offer on a Krytac LMG upper, R-hopped barrel setup, and two box mags for about 160 quid. Well, I tried it on several of my various ARs I have lying around including a VFC M27, KWA SR-10, KWA SR-7, VFC KA PDW, CA AR-15, and a few more, yet it wouldn't fir on any. However, it would fit on my backup gun. See, I have this one gun that goes to every game with me, no matter if I am using a SMG, LMG, sniper, etc. I built it as my first high end AEG about 5 years ago at a teching class run by a shop im rather close friends with. Its a VFC Jag Arms PHX-15 SBR. The thing is a tank, holding around 300 FPS and 26RPS with an 11.1. I always bring it as something fancy always breaks, and after a MilSim two years ago where I had three of the 5 guns I brought go down I always bring the gun I affectionately call "Backup". Well, Backup's lower happened to fit the Krytac LMG upper. Backup is black with tan highlights, stock, grips, etc. Well, after installing the LMG upper I was not a fan of the Rogers SuperStock I had on it. It just seemed too small. So I got a PTS MOE Rifle AEG stock that would fit my brick LiPos, since an LMG should always have a bigger battery. Well, that turned out to not be great, as the stock took about 5 hours of modification to actually fit the gun. However, it now looks great and is solid. I also added a Vortex Crossfire T1 and an Eotech G33 magnifier on top (I may end up using an ELCAN like most of my other LMGs), and a Magpul AFG2 (may switch it to tan to match the look Backup's AR form has) and Harris-style bipod. Now, with about 10 minutes at home/20min on the field I can switch between Backup's AR and LMG forms.

Cyma CM045 "Krinkov" Arrived yesterday and I spent today stripping, cleaning and shimming the gearbox (great quality, still with gunky blue grease!) and re-wiring with a 11.1v Li-Ion and Gate NanoHard mosfet Madbull tightbore barrel I had lying around and G&G green rubber / Firefly nub. New O-ring nozzle from AK2M4 arriving tomorrow but not sure I can be arsed to strip it down again πŸ™„ Outside has been sanded and roughed up, wood sanded and stained. Still more to do on this (and the 5 steel mags!) to give it the true Khyber Pass look. 335fps +/- 4fps and 20rps on full auto 😈 Destined for OPFOR MILSIMS, loaner gun and noisy CQB!
