So guys, I need y’alls opinions. So I have this MP7: Now do I leave it as an a1 or convert it to an a2? If you’re unaware the process involves permanently removing the folding grip and replacing it with a rail. I did this to my GBB MP7. However the folding grip on this AEG variant is much sturdier, so I don’t necessarily have to convert it. Hence wanting opinions. To avoid filling the section with replies, just vote a1 with the “like” react and a2 with the “coolAF” react. For comparison - A1 vs A2 TM MP73 points -

Give another item/s a go again with your paint - but scuff half of it - even a Brillo pad would scuff it enough and then leave it in a nice warm place till at least evening tomorrow and try the 3in1-wipe test - I still think the “drying” time could be the issue (or the pre-prep) - I personally leave anything 1-2 days between to harden up. I use Loop marker paint atm and use plastikote for clear coat and do at least 3-5 coats of clear over a day (it has a 1 hour dry time) then leave it a full day to fully set before I do anything.2 points

On tonight's episode of: "Airsoft D.I.WHY?!" I was well bored and curious today, so decided there was enough real-estate on the reciever of my Sniper rifle to fit a rail segment between the real mag, and the dummy mag. (Actually pushed the Plastic in there... 😕 ) Went well, need to file off the keymod "bumps" on the underside of the rail so it fits flush to the body. The angled grips makes it much comfort to operate now too. If I stick with the Angled Foregrip on there, I'll have to file off a few mm on the backend so the dummy mag can fit back in - but this isn't essential. This isn't an issue with a vertical grip obviously, but it feels uncomfortable compared to the AFG.2 points -

Haha my WHT on the GPMG lasted all of 10 mins... never even held one in depot and within a day of being at battalion I was lugging it around with 700 rounds and a spare barrel...1 point

From bolt to muzzle, in order. Reversed for removal. (P7 of manual). I've done it that many times it's second nature, but checked the manual to be sure!1 point -
Where do I Start

Hello all hope someone can let me know how the best way to go about starting off in this sport after the pandemic is over and everything goes back to normal ( close as it can be) as I have very little knowledge1 point -
Doing a little delving into 3in1 oil it contains Naphtha which is petroleum based and is good for cleaning metal so that could be a reason, also the quality of the paint or the hardened state of paint or the lack of any clear protective coat or it could have just got under the paint making it loose. So pondering on the issue could be that 3in1 could take paint off, or your paint wasn’t hardened enough beforehand, or you didn’t have a protective coat over your paint, or the paint itself wasn’t fully adhered to the gun (did you scruff up the metal/plastic?) or a primer was needed to bond to. Try blasting a bit of paint on another object like a cardboard box, a empty bean can and something plastic - but half of the object give some scuffing or prime it. Then give the same time you gave the gun to dry and “drop” some 3in1 on those object and wipe again. if the paint sticks then it could be a adherence issue from the pre-painting on the gun if the paint doesn’t then it your paint and 3in1 don’t mix1 point

Gotta love the BR Life. My buddy and I run around with 417s set up as BRs, and I’m in the process of making a 417a2 BR. Good fun. Anyway, had to go and get myself a birthday present. Flecktarn Crye pants and a custom cut Flecktarn short sleeve Crye Combat shirt are now ordered. Granted it’ll be like 4 months before I actually get them, but it’s not like I’ll be playing anytime soon...1 point -

Got this a little while ago but Ive been doing some mod work to it so havent posted. This is a dboys scar H I got on sale from taiwan gun. After a bit of filing and work it now takes sr25 magazines as well as scar h mags. why you ask? Because the only midcaps that would fit otherwise are the bloody £20 each vfc ones. Now I can use the £7 cyma 120rd sr25 mags instead. Taiwan gun lowered the fps for me as I tend to enjoy running guns like this and my g3 as select fire battle rifles rather than dmrs.1 point -
You can use Krylon (around £13 a can), Deco (10) or Kobra (£5) which are all available from amazon but the usual you get what you pay for but with any rattle can spray they say it’s good to go after 2-ish hour but better if it’s 24hrs (recoat after 20mins) but my experience is give each colour 48-72hrs to let it fully harden. I am currently trying Marker paint from my local graffiti shop with some really good results (https://www.graffhq.com) but again you get what you pay for and clear coating afterwards is key. If you as mentioned by @DerDer go for baking it and if goes wrong in the oven then it’s either a baaaaaaad paint job (wrinkled/hazy) or a deformed object or a very VERY VERY annoyed wife I would also recommend 2-4 coats of a matt clear coat again leaving a 2-3 to fully cure and harden then bar the usual dinks and scratches from playing your paint job should be golden. Only other option would be trying to cerakote it but that’s whole new ballgame and expensive- lots of how-to’s on YouTube tho if you wanna try it1 point

Something like rustoleum or hammerite might do the job. Do you have access to an oven? Baking it after application can help things.1 point

@Steveocee I’ve just ordered a “knock-off” MK23 (asg) from patrolbase on Wednesday which is hopefully arriving Monday and ordered some upgrades for that from Longbow and skirmshop.nl which all has arrived, a TDC, a barrel and hop-up rubber and gonna have a tinker with that and if that goes well I’m more inclined to go the base model and upgrade/tinker as it’s needed with rifle, but if I screw up it’s not a expensive one. @Hudson Cheers for the info but it’s made my decision a touch harder, but I might hit you up a bit (if I may) if I do go down the T10 route1 point

Losing UKARA due to no skirmishes (Covid-19)
Alpha Wolf reacted to Sneaky for a topic
Well, we all are just going to have to wait. I spoke to my local site and they updated my UKARA for me, been a regular there for some length of time. I'm not going airsofting for some time as I want to see how it plays out. I'm hoping that I will be wrong (I am no scientist) but the way it is going with people doing their own thing could bring about a second wave. I express that I am desperate to airsoft, like so many of you are but just be sensible and let this all, pass. Stay safe everyone!1 point -

I must agree an OE 416 and a good ol CQBR are my fave ARs Been working on this still ongoing project the past 2 months and I feckin love it, going to be my MBR/jungle gun. Been getting it upto date with the latest 'real steel' G36C upper rail machining. Makes it all feel a lot lighter visually I think.1 point

Airsoft is like building classic Mini's. Everyones like "the parts are really cheap" reality is you need 100s of parts = not cheap 😂1 point

Being furloughed, and the lockdown stopping play thought I'd tick off something I've wanted to do for ages. Painted the MK18, and even the MK46! I'm now the proud owner of two very salty looking RIF's wanting to create a worn 'in country look' Painting a RIF is of course very subjective, but I hope you all like. This was the first time I've ever sprayed one of my collection, and it was a lot of fun!1 point
