The likes of silicone and soft rubber buckings are only really any use in the very cold. They are not tough enough to put up with the shear mechanical rogering they get from GBBRs They work best in bolt action rifles due to the gentle seating/insertion of the loading nozzle. Stock TM buckings and PDI (which do not work in the MWS for the record) are best suited to GBB guns. The only real benefit of the Modify and some other silicone / soft buckings is better shot consistency through better bucking-to-loading-nozzle sealing, which gives a more consistent FPS. So that improves shot consistency on the vertical plane. This can also be achieved by seating the nozzle more firmly into the bucking with a stronger Recoil spring or HSB Spacer. There is negligible improvement over a stock TM bucking on the horizontal plane.2 points -

Yesterday I decided to brave the dreaded M14, I wanted to fit a MOSFET and some other bits to DMR-ify it. After nervously biting my nails for hours on end, watching YouTube tutorials and having cold sweats at the horror stories I'd heard of how hard they are to work on... I dived in. How hard can it be really? 8 hours later it was done. 8 hours of nonstop swearing and pleading with various dieties it wa finally done. Bugger me sideways I never want to have to look at an M14 again. Except now I have to open it up again because something has gone wrong and my FPS is all over the place so a likely air seal issue somewhere. Arse. Now the V7 gearbox itself was actually relatively pleasant to work on, and the Frankenstein looking concoction of springs and levers on the outside of the box actually make really good sense when you know what you're looking out, and much easier than trying to cack-handedly hold everything together and hope it fits like a V2. It's all the steps required to get to the gearbox that's the issue. I still can't assemble the bolt cover to work properly despite having followed the mechbox tutorial to the letter. This got me wondering, what is the worst gun out there anyone has had to work on? I can't imagine there being much worse than an M14.1 point

If you ever have a problem with a springer shotgun, just throw it in the bin. Your time and sanity is worth more than the gun. It's like a plastic onion where every layer is user hatred.1 point

I gotta admit, I hate MP5s. I had a TM MP5 and Iβd rather peel my fingernails off than get inside that thing again, itβs just so long winded, and boring. The ICS MP5 we have now is still a pain , the hop units are poo. But it I have never had that much issue with working on guns, maybe because itβs similar to what I do for work.1 point -

At the time I was using 0.36g Longbows and ASG Ultrair (might have been Guarder Black if it was cold).1 point -
Just dive in, AEGs are very simple if youβre a mechanic. I was very nervous before opening.my first gearbox up, watched a couple of videos first, but was surprised how easy it was when I tried it.1 point

Some bits and bobs from @ak2m4. Gears and motor for the M4. Spring and motor for the PDR-C. Time to see what rocket innards are like!1 point

As I've mentioned on his gear thread for Β£300 I'd be expecting that to be a literal ton of pouches cos the rest is worth nowhere near the asking price even brand new.1 point

@Luke85 @Rogerborg, There's no excuse for the barrel..... but the fact their tech stated he checked the (blatantly not fitted) mosfet is imo absolutely a fucking damning indictment of both their tech's skill and integrity.1 point

I completely agree, the faulty gun in the first place isn't really their fault. To bullshit a customer how they did though and not notice or resolve issues such as the barrel is totally unacceptable. Can't actually believe a gun was sold with a barrel in that state. Makes you wonder how many other customers are getting the same sort of treatment.1 point

Well, quite. It's not their fault that they received that gun from Arcturus. But there is no excuse for not spotting that horror show of a barrel when it was sent back, and blaming the issues on poor quality BBs is an absolute rogue's trick. How could they possibly tell that, and how could a customer possibly refute it? And who buys a Β£260 gun then feeds it crappy BBs? Where would you even buy crappy BBs these days? Nah, they've messed that one up good and proper. The best thing they could do now, with that video out there, is to stop digging, apologise, and make it right. Reckon they will?1 point -
So my silly expensive Japanese carry handle came today π Love it! π₯° But now I need to find a much more appropriate red-dot. Something smaller. Bloody more money! π1 point
