  1. Very true but in today’s litigation powered world unless you do have a fancy piece of paper that says you can do the job then experience ain’t worth crap all , take my job in the nhs day in day out I see newly qualified nurses who haven’t a fecking clue what there doing but they’ve got a degree so they jump up the promotional ladder over older experienced nurses who can run rings around them but as they ‘only’ have a nursing diploma there promotional chances are Zero .😢 PS I’m in neither of these categories as A; I don’t have a degree , B; I don’t have a diploma I have a specialist orthopaedic qualification that has a fixed ceiling on how high I could have gone so I’m out off all the politics , which suites me just fine ! 👍

  3. Site Name: AWA Herts Contact details: 07732 184957 Website Address: http://www.awaherts.com/ Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/AwaHerts/ Site Address: Matthams Wood, Sawbridgeworth, Herts, CM21 0LT My battle buddy and I popped along to AWA Herts on Sunday (28/07/2019). The site has been going 16 years. Previous online reviews suggest it is a pretty good site. This one has been on my hit list for some time. This is a Large sized Woodland only site. Little in the way of ascent and descent with some slopes and a earthen bunker section. There are some purpose built buildings which are of wooden construction typical of airsoft sites. Some water features though they weren't in play. Mostly medium engagement distances are the order of the day. It has some fairly dense woodland with some clearings. Entrance to the site is through a farm track. Good: Chrono: A mandatory chrono was in affect and every rifle was marked. AEG FPS limits are a high 360FPS. DMR is 450 and Bolt actions are 500. Users own BB weight is used for testing. Gas pistols are usually not tested unless its C02. Fun Moments: Couldn't quite put our finger as to why, but we had some good moments during the day from a personal performance level. The Bunker defence game was a highlight for me, batting back people with my DMR was deeply satisfying. My battle buddy had possibly his best performance in airsoft. Clientele: Whilst not overly friendly (Not a huge amount of mingling between groups) everyone took their hits like a champ. I cant remember a time where people weren't calling them. Honest bunch. Average: Playing area: Standard woodland fare. It's a large site, but not massively varied. The amount of foliage around meant that long distance engagement was difficult. The Buildings were in fairly good order though looking a little tired. The bunker was an earth mound with brickwork tunnel running underneath. Food: A nice burger, with a veggie option. Chocolate and drinks available. We felt the burger price was a bit high at £5 for a double. Marshalling: Generally positive with a "but". The marshals were approachable, the safety brief was not overly long. They pushed the teams and gave help when needed. I reported an incident of one of my team giving out enemy positions after they called their hit. I reported it to a marshal who said they had already had a word with the player a couple of times and asked me if I could have a word with him? The marshals should have sat on him for it. Game modes: Pretty simple game modes, mostly attack this point with unlimited lives, defenders only have 2 lives. Timed game and then a turn around. The bunker game was pretty insane though and as stated before, a highlight. I think more variety here would be good, maybe a fall back game to take advantage of the large site. Despite the large site, short and fast games were played. We aren't sure this is the right choice though I guess this is a personal opinion! Parking: Was available on a long strip of tarmac. Can imagine it would be a little difficult to get past cars when busy, but there is plenty available. Get there early to get close to the safe zone. Safe Zone: Good size for the low numbers we had, but it was pretty tired in places. There was cover but not particularly effective, with rainwater collecting on top of a lot of them. Seats were made available. The tables were more like low wooden pallets (Though we did snag one of the few decent tables). Providing seats meant that this wasn't rated as "Bad" but it was a close thing. Bad: Shop: Limited selection of Smoke, Gas and BB's. Only .2's and .25's available. There was a very small selection of accessories and one RIF. Toilets: I recall a portacabin. I didn't need to go but kids setting up next to us refused to go in it due to the condition and/or smell. Conclusion: We had a reasonably good time at AWA. What we both came away with is that its a pretty average site, with no massive positives or negatives to take away from it. There is no obvious USP, but no massive red flags. My buddy put it best, "A local site for local people". We probably wont be back as there are closer sites to us that offer a bit more for a bit less money. I think for this site to attract people from further away minor improvements need to be made across the board. Bullpup Watch: Three, L85, Aug and UAR. (None mine).

    G&Gs Supposed new line

From the looks of it, newly made parts for this rifle would be the trigger, trigger guard, the handguard and associated attachment parts, whatever outer barrel is setup in there, the 'muzzle device', the hinge system for the buffer tube and the entire lower which is a very serious investment in moulds. No idea on the upper, stock and grip as I don't own/follow anything G&G, but obviously there will have to be some new bits inside and a bit of tweaking vs their standard V2 gearbox. From a factory building setup standpoint it's also a non-trivial investment/change in terms of putting any new model in to production when you're talking a comparatively small industry like airsoft, even if the product is a minor departure from previous offerings. It's the sort of thing most players have no understanding of and a lot of the reason people whinge about prices constantly (both RIFs and gear) as they simply lack any understanding of what things cost to make. I'm not a G&G fan here I don't care one iota if these sell or not, just stating facts. Not saying companies don't make decent profits either, but the number of people getting rich off airsoft is bloody tiny in the grand scheme of things.

    G&Gs Supposed new line

Well do you reckon a large corporation like G&G does research and studies before the plow money in to new moulds and production lines? I'd guess they probably do. I don't specifically follow it at all, but I'm pretty sure the whole thing is orders of magnitude larger in the US than it is in the UK.

  6. Been here once ages ago, my pal turned his knee (he’s old, and falling apart) so we left after the first game. From what I remember your views are pretty much spot on from mine. Nothing outstanding to draw me back as there are other places which are nearer I would rather play. Although I do remember the one game I played was awesome and have never seen anything like it since.... was a convoy type game with large boxes/crates having to be carried by one team across the site and attacked by the other team, loads of random ambushes and counter attacks. Was great fun!

  7. Marui do batch manufacturing unfortunately we seem to be waiting for them to start the next batch, I’ve got my name to 3 when my local retailer gets word of availability. The popularity of the MWS has been its own downfall in this regard.

  8. @Uncle Pauly - It's my understanding that these fit and function fine, the casing just has a slightly different design: Type 89 Marui GBBR Magazine. I believe the shell on the type-89 magazine has marks on one side denoting the amount of rounds left, it's non-functional in airsoft terms (to the best of my knowledge) but it's an alternative option. The chaps at Camoraids should be able to confirm compatibility and how many they have in-stock.

Yeah I add wear to everything 😁 The MAC is all plastic so had to rub it down with silver paint to get the sheen. (PM if you want more details)

  14. This is also a big issue in the IT industry. Most certification schemes are simply a cash grab, people learn how to pass the cert rather than do the job.

Right guys, so some of you may know that I destroyed my buffer earlier this week. After much thought and discussion with @Davegolf from SixG, Dave has kindly made me a replacement buffer plunger. I also ordered the SixG HSB buffer spacer. I must say I was very impressed with the quality but if you've ever seen the super nub you wouldn't be surprised! Fitting was very easy and took less than 5 minutes, and everything went together perfectly! I ran about 5 mags through it, and it was incredibly snappy! And boosted my FPS by 10-12. I will be skrimishing on Sunday so I will update with a full review.

  18. I use mine an awful lot. Not just for block colour either. There are ways to shade a model using just black and white before you put the final colour on. It's all about layer thickness. You put a thin layer over that B&W layer but only just enough. The final outcome is a model with a tonal shift through the model. For the actual airbrush, you can spend a lot or a little. The more expensive ones are not always the best to look at. My go-to modelling airbrush is either a Mig ammo aircobra (£100+ expensive). Or an EXPO AB900 (£40). The AB900 can do everything the Mig brush can. It's just not as refined and struggles on very fine lines. It's normally the first brush I will grab as it's the one I allow to be kicking about on top of the desk. https://www.expotools.com/acatalog/AB800-Easy-Clean-Airbrush-with-Small-2ml-Colour-Cup-AB900.html For a compressor I have several. I used for a very long time one of the cheap nail art compressors. They work but will only allow about 15-20 psi in continuous operation. The next stage up from that are £60-100 and are generally called airbrush compressors. They tend to have small tanks and can be set to various pressure outputs. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AS-186-Compressor-Tank-Nail-Tatoo-Art-Spray-Gun-Complete-Airbrush-Kit-INCD-VAT/273503213852?epid=25031180469&hash=item3fae0fd91c:g:f9MAAOSw8MZbvs7q&frcectupt=true Because they come with a couple of brushes as well they represent everything you need. Don't expect the brushes to be decent tho. Spending that £40 on the expo one is a good basic investment. The final stage of compressors is getting something more professional. I have one of these. It doesn't offer anything over the Ebay kit other than the ability to produce air faster and quieter. You never need one of these, having one is a luxury not a requirement. Your paint will govern the space you need. Water-based acrylics need nothing special. Spraying using a box on your knee or desk is perfectly fine. You won't get much overspray, and the box will catch it. Enamels and oil-based stuff you will need ventilation. The fumes build up, and you will need a mask as well. Dual action airbrushes are very good on paint use, and the chances of getting a lot of oversprays are minimal. Decent paint is key to the whole thing working well. MIG AMMo and Vallejo model air are good starter paints to use. Some airbrush flow improver and liquid airbrush cleaner are also worthwhile. Vallejo are decent for these. Once you have a few paints and some cleaner you can start to play about with the setup. Masking a model is easy, but you can also mount the masks on balls of masking tape to get feathered edges on the camo effects. Watch loads of videos. MIG videos are very good to learn basics from.
