    Huge Loss of FPS :(

Did you attempt to shim the gearbox? Or get the shims in the wrong order? Did you check the air seals on the piston and compatibility between the new cylinder head and the air seal nozzle? I think you are looking at a compounded set of problems. The first thing to do is start from scratch. Strip it fully. Build the cylinder and piston arrangement, check it for airleaks with a push test. Then start to look at the gears and motor height. I suspect you have overshimmed the sector gear and it's grabbing the tappet plate. From your original post, I suspect that the tappet arrangement is not moving fully. This is either allowing multiple BB's to feed for one cycle, or the gun is cycling but not shooting. Either way, it's the tappet that is causing it, It may, however, be caused indirectly through the tappet, If the Airseal nozzle isn't fully compatible it could be binding on the cylinder head and stopping movement, The gears been badly shimmed could cause it, Or a spring failure. The lack of FPS is caused by the tappet plate in this instance. Because the tappet isn't fully forwards it's not making any attempt at an air seal. Since you spooned the piston as well I'll need to see pictures of the piston arrangement and the o-ring. You may have done some damage you haven't noticed, Like crushing the rear, or chipping the sealing face.

When I'm Marshaling I take out my litre Klean Kanteen and fill it with a nice hearty brew. When I'm playing I do much the same as above, take layers off to play, pile them back on between games.

I generate a LOT of heat when I play and I'm not even one to run. So I treat it like swimming, I layer up in the downtime and strip off for a game (not literally but lose most layers to play ). I wouldn't be difficult to spot in the snow as I'd look like a monkey in a hot spring.

What should i do? What to buy?

Do the job properly! It's great to see people who are interested in taking it up but you would probably have a much more fulfilling day going to a real site and learning what it's all about. Different scenarios, more people to play with, real safety and handling techniques. Don't want to spoil your fun but done badly you could end up with serious consequences.

schools off already? backyard airsoft is probably going to attract some unwanted attention, you'd be better off going to proper sites, they're going to have kit you can rent, safety equipment, and a nice big place for you to run around and shoot your freinds (or with them). do that first then worry about what kind of hardware you want to buy, only things it'd be smart to invest anything in at this stage is good boots, good gloves and good eyepro

That piston head is fucked. The big crack is only going to get worse and with it the piston head has a good chance to lose a chunk. When and if it does that you will damage the gears and piston. Central sector to piston engagement is not critical. Provided the piston teeth and sector teeth have full mesh it doesn't matter if it's out of line (most gearboxes are off a little). Do yourself a favour. Stop buying marked up parts. https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/index.php?route=common/home Use this shop. Your cylinder head that you paid £20 for...£6.50 on there. https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/internal-parts/cylinder-heads/ra-m4-cylinder-head-pad Piston head £6.50 https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/internal-parts/pistons-heads/ra-piston-head-double-oring-aluminium If you have a soft tappet plate I'd swap that as well. Soft been the flag end is easy to bend upwards, A little spring in the tappet plate is normal, but it should be stiff enough that it doesn't deform and bend when the chip engages the plate. Since you have had a minor smash I would change it just to be 100%. £3.50 https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/internal-parts/tappet-plates/ra-tappet-plate-v2 And since you are putting in an order you may as well have an air nozzle at £4.50 https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/internal-parts/air-nozzles/ra-m4-aluminium-nozzle

Out of the box and have little want or need to open it up - SRS. Buy it, modify it, learn every screw, o-ring and part intimately, spend hours tweaking it and obsessing over it - VSR. RWA - I have no experience of (sorry, but it does look good). I would probably say that if you just want to buy and shoot to go for an SRS and that comes from a VSR owner.

This. Stuff them in your glove and carry on. These little disposable fabric-feeling ones are spot on. Last an entire days play and then you bin them. Get them from Sainsburys, Halfords, Boots - everywhere I think.

Just picked up this bad boy for £54 in the Gunfire dropzone sale. This will be my first bolt action rifle. I was thinking of getting one of these when they were double the price. So pretty happy. Also purchased a Maple Leaf Autobot 70 degree hop rubber and 3 additional mags. Not sure what else I should get in the short term.

Reminds me of a certain LBV type vest that was made ages ago. Might have SOEtech or something along those lines. Chinese are still cranking out copies of it. Wouldn't necessarily be battle proof but at least its cheap. http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/US-Navy-Seal-CQB-LBV-Modular-Assault-Vest-Coyote-Brown/418115_819571815.html

    This gun, or this gun?

Not with mine. They just did the stock and handguard. The red they used was a nice deep burgundy, it actually looked fairly decent. That feature list and the quick change spring really does make a good argument. You could literally modify it at the chrono if you had to. The G&Gs are the default choice for a reason, but perhaps that really has driven some competition.

Take it apart and check there is nothing obvious. Sounds like it could be a tappet plate issue, did you put the little spring back on the tappet plate correctly. Also while it’s apart check compression and fix it if it needs it 👍

What's your mag / rounds count?

The high cap is my backup should I find I turn up to a movie-themed game where it's me against 400 people and no matter how close someone gets, their rounds either miss or fall short enabling me to easily shoot my way out on full-auto 😂
  42. 1 point
*triggered* there is a benefit to heavier ammo especially at a 1j limit, it'll fly farther, hit harder, and be much more likely to punch through light foliage than lighter ammo. try dropping .3's in your rifles and see what i mean, and get some .4's in that sniper!
  43. 1 point
We're shooting little plastic BBs not bullets so your rounds are going to be effected by wind a lot more. Think of an RDS more of a guide to where you want your shots to go, not where they'll hit. Could also be your hop, etc..

    Rushers / Speedsofters

The card thing just seems way to complicated to me , you can’t get half the players on site to even remember the team objective let alone getting cards punched , etc . the systems I like are ; General Medic game , you get hit stand up in plain view arm in the air shout “medic !” team mate joins you , they can either pull you down behind cover or run you to cover once in cover hand on shoulder , 5second count , back in BUT if your hit again that player can’t medic you back in until you’ve been medic’ed by a different player to avoid the old game stopper of two guys in an objective continuously medic’ing each other back in ! Second medic game ; dedicated medics and only they can bring you back to life . Both systems if you get hit again whilst being medic’ed then the medic is hit as well (considered a ‘shoot through’) and they now need to be revived , when medic in play there’s also a bleed out rule if your not medic’ed back in you shout “bleeding out!” Then move back BEHIND your teams front line and get medic’ed back in .

If you rush you're a "sweaty cunt" and if you stay in one spot you're a "camper". I've been called both. Guess you can't please everybody! Nothing wrong with how you play. You're not breaking any rules or hurting anything other than their pride. Get stuck in and have fun.

If you're concerned that you're not feeling hits, I'd suggest switching to a belt rather than any sort of vest. Or just fill your pockets with mags. Folk can get shirty when they're taken unawares. I was playing sneaky pistol yesterday in CQB and caught quite a few folk while they were standing around in groups in "safe" areas and planning their next great strategy. Depending on perceptions, they may have considered it spawn killing, although a nearby marshal was kind enough to call it as good play. So that's where I'd go if I were you - talk to a marshal or the site owner about the issue. I'd start with asking if you're doing anything wrong or unwelcome, rather than opening with a complaint. Other than that, don't sweat it. Folk will play the way that they'll play - you can only control your actions.

Sounds like you’ve done nothing wrong and they’re just being dicks. I think the problem is, Speedsofters in general have a bad rep. Playing in the mill and level 2 at least, the speedsofters are irritating. Super rapid fire and huge overkill. That and they tend to not take hits when sprinting from one position to another so people categorise all aggressive play as speedsoft. Funny speedsofter quote from last weekend: “They shouldn’t let people use .28’s.. it’s like being hit by a brick.” 😂

Full auto at Killhouse?? I play there a lot and whoever did that should be getting strong words from Michael. Dead men can't shoot. They're pissed at you for getting up on them? And shooting them? That's the game ffs. If you're taking your hits, playing within the rules and still getting the kills, then I'd say they're just grumpy cos you're playing better than they are. I have been taken out at killhouse a few times from peeps who have managed to get round any behind us. It's my own fault for not watching my six, combined with good player on my opponent's part. I get grumpy with people sometimes - but it's generally for shooting me after they're already dead!
