you missed out the bit where it's: choose plate carrier choose pouches you need put pouches on plate carrier try it on at home, everything seems good go to game lose magazine because one of the pouches wasn't right and you realise you forgot to buy grenade pouches choose pouches you need put pouches on plate carrier try it on at home, realise it's too front heavy buy hydration pouch for back of carrier put hydration pouch on carrier try it on at home, nope still front heavy take it to a game anyway, put your back out reorganise pouches for better weight distribution take it to a game, realise you can't reach some of the pouches buy more pouches to allow you to stack up magazines take it to a game, now it's too bulky give up on this plate carrier idea and buy a battle belt put pouches on battle belt try it on at home, all is good go to game, belt slips and falls down constantly buy h harness go to game, realise pistol is awkward to draw get drop leg panel try out at home, all is good go to game, realise pistol is unbalanced give up on this battle belt nonsense and buy a plate carrier.

Bad Weather - yay or nay

it varies, sometimes i'll call it if there's bad rain, other times i'll play in a total downpour/boiling sun/snow etc etc pretty much just gets called on a how i'm feeling on the day. ironically adverse weather games can sometimes be the best ones, more dedicated players.

Problem with something like this is odds are the avatar you have to use to plan your ‘new look’ will probably have the physique of a god of war , unlike most Airsofters who have the physique of a casualty of war ! 😳

I played in the snow. Twice. Never again. Dont mind playing in any weather, what I do detest is when the marshalls give you an hour break after you’ve been playing for 4 hours in the rain. Your body has been hot from running back and fourth, then you stop, the rain soaks through, gets cold, and you either get ill/energy sapped and the rest of the day is shite. Once you’re wet, keep running and you’ll be fine. It’s when you stop is the issue.

There's no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing choices. I wear SealSkinz socks, Gore-Tex Merrell boots and usually pack my Patagonia L5 jacket. Rain is very good, as stated, for covering noise, but I cannot be the only person who has called a 'hit' after a particularly large drop of water has impacted upon them...

Yeah that's really good value. I'd be terrified letting the rentals off with h all that kit though. I worry about losing my own pistols as it is and I use a bungee cord! On the subject of two tones, I saw a really good one recently *Goes away for ten minutes* Saw this on Patrolbase's "Weapon Wednesday" Facebook post last week. For a two tone I think it looks really nice. The red doesn't hinder the look at all. I'd very happily own and use that.

What upgrades are you thinking of? I can't speak to others like the CYMA, but the Galaxy MP5K has a V3 gearbox, just with a longer trigger - and the lonnng trigger pull is one thing I would like to sort. Metal hop units are available. The stock one wants the hop adjustment arm cable tied down to stop it gradually slipping over the day. AEG barrels and hop rubbers fit. Wiring to Deans and fitting a lipo is de rigueur. It's a giggle of a platform, great for CQB and surprisingly usable at longer range as well shooting at ~315fps. By far the best value airsoft toy on which I've wasted my money. Recommended at the price.

One of the best days I've had was in the pouring rain a few months back. Only about 20 of us turned up , it poured all day and everyone was ridiculously good humoured ! Hi fiving after getting hit and lots of calls of 'fecking good shot !' The whole day was an absolute scream 😁

My first skirmish was 5 degrees and raining, but had gortex trousers, poncho and helmet so was fine, marshal was less enthused at me lying prone in the wet with a rental gun 😁. But as I was warm and dry wasn't bothering me. G

Hi all, My family are raising money for Cystic Fibrosis research and treatment for 24hrs from 17:00pm today by undertaking a Yoga-thon. This particularly cruel disease is one very close to my familys' hearts, it drastically shortens the lives of those who are afflicted with it and it was a real shock to find out in writing - when myself and wife were thinking of starting a family - to discover that I carried the CF gene. Fortunately she doesn't and we have two healthy daughters. However not all parents are as fortunate. I know how generous the airsoft community is, so I wanted to post the GoFundMe link on this fantastic forum: https://www.gofundme.com/24hour-yogathon?member=929154&fbclid=IwAR3jAwaLtltxzr2lmDU-RTJWHDmE3aHdY3xX_RlgM3JYZQlcHW6F7eSlniU Any small donation gladly accepted. Bought a £25 Chinese plate carrier knock off from eBay. Came with some free mag pouches. Looks good and does everything I need. Gradually added a few extra bits here and there over the years of Airsofting. After having it for about 5 years I'm looking at swapping it for a JPC as I want something more lightweight for CQB and summer games. Though coming up to winter the full plate carrier will be a welcome layer of warmth and protect my flabby bits from stingers in the cold 😛 It's a work in progress, you'll figure out what you need as you play more. And half of those "problems" you came up with wouldn't be solved by looking at some online knock up either.

One step further here - using an M140 AirsoftPro spring (rated at 460 fps) I am now under the 500FPS limit These values are on 0.25g BBs so gives an adjusted fps of 492 on 0.2. The M140 spring is only rated for 460 so I do expect a little drop in power over time as it weakens and beds in, but happily the bolt pull is really quite light.

The only alternative I've used over the years - and this is not quick but it is more effective in the long run - is just looking at a lot of pictures of what other people already use. Sometimes threads on forums have a lot of broken img links when you go back far enough, but there's no shortage of skirmish sites/event organisers that post albums full of pics every week (for example) and it only takes a couple of minutes to scan through 100s of pictures. Anything computer generated, will not (as mentioned) ever look the same in real life. As an example of that, I've seen guys to 100% faithful recreations of BF3/4 loadouts but even with the time I've sunk in to said games, when I see the images it really takes me a minute to even clock the fact they've copied a game, on account of how drasticalyl different it always ends up looking in the real world. I think what matters is stuff like; is your rig comfortable, do your pouches hold everything securely, can you draw stuff from your belt without shit from your upper torso getting in the way, does your face pro prove to be massively inhibitive, will you pass out from heat stroke when it's 30 degrees in that loadout etc etc. Those real issues are countered by buying decent quality stuff, learning yourself and learning from others who have a lot more experience and can effectively pass on that experience. Looks? Well you buy whatever colour/camo you personally like, hunt around for clothing/LBE in that colour if you wish to invest the time. I know I dump a lot of hours in to scouring the net for clothing and kit in specific styles. My concern is always to help people avoiding buy shit that fails them functionally. If you buy something and it functions but doesn't look just the way you like, that's not going to be nearly as big of a deal. Also, crucially, aesthetics will tend to come as a result of function. People who've got their gear figured out always look better than guys clomping about with their laces undone, loose straps flailing everywhere, drop-leg holster too low and swinging in the breeze, helmet/rig/shirt that doesn't fit etc.

    Dye i4 Lenses

So i have been running Dye i4 masks now for nearly 2 years for airsoft both in CQB and woodland, i have two masks, 1 for woodland in a sort of faux Multicam pattern for woodland and the other was a Dye i4 in Onyx Black and Dyetanium gold lenses for CQB. The first mask i wore was the Woodland one at Dragons Lair Airsoft when i first got it and within the first 30 to 45 minutes its fogged on me, the marshall himself was puzzled saying that that should not happen, i was wearing a hat covering the upper vent holes. The Second mask i wore was the Onyx Black one at The Mall in reading and it fogged on me, again i was wearing a FAST helmet covering the vent holes, i also had to rip out alot of material from the helmet to get the Dye i4 mask to fit seemlessly. I though that this should not be happening on what i considered to be expensive masks that were touted as fog proof, also the ball ache of trying to fit a Z-Tac BOWMAN 3 headset, then Dye i4 Mask, then helmet was also becoming too much. I looked around for fan solutions but they all proved to be bulky messes such as needing a large battery pack strapped to the back strap which would foul the FAST helmet adjustment strap. In the end i knew that the only thing possible would be a custom built (jury rigged) system done by myself so now i have the following: Each of my Dye i4s have 1 x small 15x15x4mm SEPA fan mounted above the vent holes in the centre, with an on/off switch powered by one small 300mAh 3.7v LiPo battery. I initially built the fan assembly, then stitched in the fan to hold it in place before using a hot glue gun to permanantly hold it in place, the battery is tucked into the head strap on the right side of the image where the red battery connector is. 1 x disassembled Z-Tac Bowman 3 headset fitted into the mask and its straps. I hot glued the mic in about the centre of the mask and tucked the headset ear piece in the strap, it does not line up with my ear 100% but i can still hear team mates and the world around me. 1 x Wide-i Echo magnetic lens cleaner, this is a small magnetic attachment and works very similar to a magnetic aquarium cleaner. Works pretty well and i have never seen it drop of by itself. It is my last line of defence against fogging. I also carry a small battery powered fan to force fresh air into the mask during down times to combat fogging, it helps cool you down, although the wife stole one of mine to use on her daily commute during hot weather. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B017HHX7US/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Also i tried to wear the masks with a black helmet that i had with a multicam cover and a helmet with Kryptek Typhon printed on it, i found that the black helmet would not fit with the Dye i4 and the Kryptek Typhon did without removing any padding, no issues. Could not figure it out initially but then i saw it. The front lip of the black helmet was about 5mm or more thick yet the Kryptek Typhon only had a front lip material thickness of 2.55mm hence why it was fitting well, i eventually found a multicam printed helmet with a front material thickness of 2.55mm and now that fits perfectly, there is still a tiny gap but its small: Also i have not experienced fogging for such a long time that i have forgotten about fogging, it only cropped up recently again a few weeks ago one weekend when it was exceptionally rainy (humid) and the mask fogged only at the end of a hard and long game day.

I agree in principle. In practice, it's a long road, and the up-front costs add up quickly if you're determined to take it all the way to recovery. I say this not to discourage anyone from doing it, just to set realistic expectations.

Ahh stolen kit. Nice to see you handling stolen goods.....Sorry, this is a bete noire of mine. Mk7s and all body armour plates are still on the restricted list and should not be sold. In any event, issued kit is still the property of the MOD and selling it by a private individual is theft. Ergo, unless you have purchased this from a reputable source that had permission to sell it you have broken the law on two counts I doubt anyone will ever bother to do anything about it but there you go - information is power.

    What's wrong in Airsoft (positive)

Ohh this is gonna be a long one Sites: 99% of sites are all the same looking, WOODLAND – there is quite a distinct lack of variation, a bit of forest. Only open on Sundays – I work shifts which means I am not always around for Sunday games Crack of dawn times in order to get to some these places – Really why so early Poorly sign posted entries to airsoft sites. By the time you do turn up the road leading to the car park is a shocking dirt track – It seems all site owners assume we all drive 4x4s. Car Park and Safe Zone distances – Owners, all us airsofters love to bring several guns or bags of kit etc I don’t want to be trudging half a mile to get to a table. Speaking of tables, Lack of stable, no hole tables in safe zones – how many times do you turn up at safe zones to find there are too few tables, and those tables that are there are wobblier than a plate made of jelly on jelly with more holes than a sieve on the top. Anything you drop on the table goes through the table. Lack of Chairs – Sites owners, not all airsofters are elite, super human, special forces operators, some of us get a bit creaky at the joints after a few hours play and want to sit down. Lack of flooring in safe zones – Owners, can we please have a safe zone where at the end of the day it doesn’t look like a bunch of guys are having a mud bath. Concrete or gravel the place or something. Lack of shelter – Lets be honest it rains in the UK, can we please have safe zones were there are roofs to shelter from rain rather than leave our kit out in the open to get soaked. On site shops – I have found that this swings in roundabouts, you have sites that have really good shops, well stocked from good name brands for decent or high street prices. On the flip side I have seen shops that have little or nothing charging extortionate prices for no name brands. Food – Some sites I have been are ace at this, great on site food made, others have nothing at all. What goes in must come out and so Toilets (and/or a lack of them) – OMG I have seen and smelt some horrific things in those. Some places I have been it was literally a bucket with a seat thrown on top. If there is one thing I think that is keeping the female airsofter away from airsofting its this. Some places there is no toilet other than a bush. People who dry fire in the safe zone – nothing makes me more nervous than people who dry fire in the safe zone, want to test if you gun works, go into the play zone first! Safety Briefing: Ok I understand that there needs to be a safety briefing, but owners can you please just draw up a flash card, keep it quick, simple and short. I have had safety briefings last nearly an hour, an hour of my time that I paid to play. On the flip side, other players who think they are clever talking during the safety briefing or making funny jokes or quips thinking its banter. Also, whilst I understand that this is generally an adult’s game but does the safety briefing need swearing? I have seen it done where I marshal continuously swore, I don’t know if he was trying to make a point, be funny, who knows. It made the marshal look unprofessional and un-credible Chrono’ing Could we please have more than one Marshal chronoing – I went to a site where it took forever to chrono because there was just one person doing it. Chrono should be done using the sites own mags and BBs at .20g then using the mag and BBs you intend to use – This way the site can at least set a base line to ensure your full auto AEG is below the 350FPS on .20g BBs before using the mag with the BB weight you intend to use to ensure no joule creep occurs. HPA users (myself included) want to be shown as being transparent and honest, can marshals please ensure that regulators are tournament locked. Ranges After chronoing and stuff, most players want or need to dial in the hop up. It would be nice if sites could provide a range to test the gun on, 100 metres at least is needed for those with bolt actions sniper rifles. And targets that visually move and ping when hit. Also needs to be bright so you can see where the shots are going. Game Area All too often you turn up and they sort of tell you vaguely where the border is, saying its that hill there, that ridge up there, the ditch that runs along there, where the string is or the tree line. Site owners NO! make it a clear and obvious border, I want to see fencing or netting or hard walls. I want obvious borders! Lack of buildings or interesting buildings. And those buildings that are out there, I means seriously who builds a house or building like a maze? This pallet with a zillion holes is hard cover, nah mate it isn’t. Hard cover should be that, HARD, no holes, no see through. All too often you have these walls made of pallets and hessian wrap that they and I can see through, use tarpaulin instead. This is a building, you can’t throw grenades over the top, SO PUT A ROOF ON IT THEN! These are very high walls, you can’t look over the top of it to gain a recce advantage, SO MAKE IT 8 FOOT HIGH WALLS SO WE CANT SEE OVER THE TOP THEN! Wobbly structures or structures in a poor state of repair. Choke points where you queue to die makes boring game play. Bridges in sites need to be wider with cover built into them for an attacking team or a defending team need to be so far back that AEGs cant reach but snipers can to allow a game to flow. All too often at sites, this is where the game gets bogged down too much. There is always the same fall back game, maybe some sites should introduce objectives such as a bomb they need to set off to clear the site rather than players, this would dislodge the snipers who just hide all day. Think RUSH from the battle field series. Marshals giving very poor, disjointed game briefings so everyone runs into battle without a clue as to what they are doing. Massive slogs back to respawn Marshals, take hint that some people actually like fast, quick turnaround games as well. Packing everything up takes ages but I have gotten quicker Long drive back home Airsoft Retailers UKARA – really, I can’t walk into any gun shop and buy a powerful metal firing air rifle or pistol, in full black or camo look without so much as providing my details. Yet to buy a plastic firing, lower powered airsoft RIF I have to play three games etc etc? This is more a rant at the law than retailers. OUT OF STOCK - how many times do you see this! It’s the scourge of airsofters worldwide. Lack of stock and variety of stock is what makes the retailers here the laughing stock! They wonder why airsofters sometimes shop from Hong Kong, the US or EU retailers. Because of the better stock levels, bigger variety etc. Saying something is in stock when really its pre ordering from elsewhere, just be damned honest and say to the customer, you can buy it from us but we will have to order it in to send to you. Brownells UK does this well saying what products are in stock (really in stock in the USA), you buy it and they tell you its coming from the States. When I place an order, I expect it to be shipped the next working day, not a few days, not next week, the next working day! So if I place an order on Monday morning (local time to retailer) I expect it to be shipped by Tuesday afternoon. Not a week later. MLEMart holds the record for me so far, two weeks from date of order to date of shipping. Now to be clear, I am not talking about receiving it, just the time difference between order being placed and order shipped. Speaking of shipping, stuff coming in from abroad and getting hit by the tax man. Can’t complain of tech work as I tend to do all my own teching Airsoft Forums and Facebook groups Can’t buy or sell RIFs on Facebook The same questions being asked time and again, use the search function or better yet, have you heard of this website called Google? Here’s some bits of my kit I want to sell, then proceeds to show blurry, poorly lit images of something maybe related to airsoft. Here’s a photo of something I want to sell, also LOOK AT MY TOES! Not so bad if they are wearing socks, slippers or shoes but I don’t want to see your grubby toes despite how well you think your last pedicure went. People one of the key rules of photography is COMPOSITION. If your crap at composition, use post processing crop. How not to sell airsoft stuff on a forum Part 1: “I want to sell my uber super RIF but I can’t add photos, PM me for the photos”. Immediately to me I just close your sale tab and move on. People there are sites like IMGUR where you can upload dozens of photos and just forum link the images, simple. How not to sell airsoft stuff on a forum Part 2: “I am selling my uber super RIF, I have dones so many upgrades to it and it shoots players on the moon, cost £2,000,000”. People over exaggerating the specs of guns or the value of it. I usually devalue guns especially if they have been painted, be it two tone or camo painted. How not to sell airsoft stuff on a forum Part 3: “I am selling my uber super RIF, £200” and that’s it, people if your selling a RIF or kit I want an essay of every part that you have damaged, changed, upgraded or modified since it has been in your possession, picture should also be included. Airsoft Forums that don’t work – Zeroin im looking at you The usual “what’s the best sniper rifle, VSR vs SRS vs SSG24” storm that’ll produce Buyers who ghost you Airsoft RIFS In general Not working when you need them to work Randomly taking a dump on you mid skirmish Most things never fits in properly without modifications, sometimes it too tight, too loose, too big ot too small. That said my HPA M4 all fitted well together. AEGs: Need I say more? 11+ delicate and intricately meshed parts moving at high speed, it a recipe for disaster, more moving parts = more points of failure. Batteries dying on you GBBRs: Cold weather, even for ones quite resistant such as GHKs Green Gas silicone getting into the gun affecting hopup Very expensive mags Can be maintenance high Not consistent enough FPS GBB Pistols: Cold weather resistance Green Gas silicone getting into the gun affecting hopup Pricy mags Not consistent enough FPS HPA guns HPA haters Yes line can get in the way, deal with it Gun has no soul ☹ Kit in general Stuff never seems to work the way its meant to work when needed Getting tangled in your kit Cheap Chinese knock off clones People calling fake EoTech sights “holographic sights” when really it’s just a rubbish RDS at best Getting your optic shot out (not happened to me yet). Fogging! Bane of every airsofter People of airsofting Non hit takers Cheaters Players who stay too far back Player Generals! - the "COME ON MOVE FORWARDS!" grabbing you to drag you to the front Walts Vapers – OMG it seems every other airsofter vapes, I have seen a crowd of airosfters for a safety briefing with a thick cloud of vape hanging over them. How often do you need to suck on that little thing. Manufacturers of airsoft stuff Cutting corners Still using cheap Zinc alloy pot metal to make gearboxes and receivers Poor Quality control TM making pistols out of plastic and low FPS (Japanese Laws) WE - Better QC and stop using zinc pot metal please G&G stop trying to use propriety parts G&P come on you need some innovation for the price your charging GHK stop making your hop up chambers out of plastic APS you need better QC Nuprol - One word "Eeeuuurrrgh" 🤮 No innovation, some of them need to step up their game or GBLS will walk all over them.
