  1. You're not going to open up a new thread for each brand are you, Joe? Try this thread for straightforward questions that have simple answers: http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/22692-quick-questions-simple-answers/ No idea on that gas. Never used it. However, if you're looking for affordable, reliable gas then Smart Gas from Gunfire is good: http://gunfire.pl/product-eng-1152204167-Smart-Gas-TM-1000ml.html - cheap and cheerful stuff that's not got the amazing lubing power of Abbey or the power of Nuprol 3.0+ and Guarder Powerful, but it's affordable and does the job. Their shipping is quite agreeable if you order 6 or so cans at a time. It's out of stock right now but they replenish stock monthly from what I've seen.

    G&G V2 Gearbox Spec

8mm bronzey bushings usually on 99% of them (FireHawk has 8mm bearings for some reason) These softer bronzey bushins do wear so replace with shs bushings over time Gear ratios are "usually" 18:1 - though oddly FireHawk seems to be 21:1 most gearboxes use 18:1 as stock std gears - a few makes may use 16:1 but reckon 85% use 18:1 (some other types like L85's M14's may use 21:1 gears in longer stroke gearboxes but 18:1 is the "norm") Piston is a 16 tooth type - well sometimes referred as a 15 tooth if 2nd tooth is removed/missing for AoE But it is still a 16 tooth piston really coz sector gear has 16 teeth on std aeg gearbox Think the cylinder spec is about 72mm x 23.8mm internal diameter - yup think that is about it I guess screws to open G&G v2's are located on opposite side to a std non blowback box don't know why but G&G put screws underneath on regular v2's - though think blowback's are on top screws 90% will be allen key types - but some are still the odd phillips screws Upgrades...... double o-ring cylinder head o-ring nozzle new piston head - better plastic one cylinder - usually fine unless port is incorrect Correct AoE, sorbo/neoprene pad check seals etc...... grease blah blah blah you have a mosfet fitted anyway - can't say how robust it all is but a fet is there all the same so donkey work is done TBH - leave it as it is for now - you have a fet so you could run on higher juice for a while Then eventually when it NEEDS to, either it needs a service or she wears a bit or something busts.. THEN - re-do the box with tweaks/service/repair etc......... That is my best advice - if it ain't broke.... etc..... Even if you buy another "enhanced" or "upgraded" box it will still most likely need a tweak here n there Quick change spring boxes are nice but on M4's you still gotta remove most stuff to change spring just you haven't got to open box - but still gotta do 90% or removal to get to rear of box (unless you wanna drill out a big dirty hole at back of receiver and need a stock change/adapter) yes on some other guns (APS UAR) the quick change spring works great and 30 sec spring change but not on M4's on a tweaked box you are gonna be looking at £100 aprox for a mofo lonex box a £40/£50 gearbox will be nigh on just a std box and G&G boxes are pretty nice to work on with good compatibility Leave it as is for now, run a bit more juice maybe then say 6 months or so then get her tweaked and serviced a bit, drop in a neo motor and she will be lovely BTW not saying run on 11.1v with a high speed neo motor trying to hit 30rps - that is silly doing that will lead to piston pickup tooth snapping off - coz did that twice at first but a little more juice or maybe a motor on 7.4v getting up near 20rps should be ok for a little while probably replace small tamiya connectors with deans is cheap easy tweak

  3. Another pro about tm recoils is the noise. People are always asking me about my scar when they hear it. 416 is snappy too, although the scar is better I'm on. And to answer the above, I'll add pics when I get in

  4. Youtube is blocked on my work network or i'd find the comparison vid i saw of this. It confirmed my suspicions; VFC has shiny metal body and trademarks. TM wins on every internal and performance element apart from less FPS out the box (as usual)

  5. I also didn't find the recoil worthwhile when having a go on one, so i opted for the TM High-Cycle series instead, which is cheaper by about £100 and outperforms the recoil series in ROF & trigger response. The stop-when empty feature is a nice touch, but again another thing i didn't really care about, i'm happier to fire a dry shot or two and have the ability to use pretty much any mag for the gun type. I'd say if you're looking for pragmatic performance, you can do much better for the money, and if you want that TM magic then get the high-cycle. If you want more 'realism' then the recoil series is all good and much favoured by the airsoft community for giving a taste of this. However the recoil function can kick up issues over time and in my mind seems to have spoiled the usual TM 'will work for a decade without service' standards.

  7. As lozart says, do not spray silicone oil in the barrel or on the hop rubber. Clean that shit off!

  8. Don't spray silicone on the bucking when you put it on.

  9. Pros: They are shoot well (hop units are very good) and the externals are pretty good (except the plastics on some of the models), generally reliable out of the box. Cons: They are over priced, especially when you add in the cost of mags. The sop mod batteries are shit and massively over priced. For me the recoil is a gimmick as its more of a tickle. They are a pain in the arse to tech. Spares are expensive. Lack fps out of the box. For me, on balance I don't think they are worth the money, but each to their own.

  10. <will add more later> for a start, i'll just leave (tease) this here (just got this, straight from P*)) getting a grip, but keeping it retro Update 06/10/15 out with the old In with the PEW PEW PEW!! (unfortunately this was as far as i could get today as my amped IGL hasnt arrived, and my FCU cable was missing, both should arrive tomorrow though) some new batteries to boot update 10/10/15 Amped IGL and the FCU cable ooooh crap (fcu cable too short) (drum roll please) Here she is fully assembled (will get better pics during day light) To Do pew pew, so she needs setting up, i need a longer FCU cable (when funds allow), i have to sort a screw on the bipod try other barrel/hop rubber combo's, i have a ZCI barrel, Orga barrel, loads of hop rubbers etc etc

Ahhhh that might have had them weird 21:1 gears in there too. You could of changed to say 16:1 or something but gotta watch for PE on them longer stroke boxes. (Presume it was a longer v2 box like A&K 25's) Anyway it's jacked now so job done

  12. Took a long time to dig these up, but finally found some Crye-compatible kneepads in grey. Rather mediocre chinese copies and I don't have the trousers yet, but picked up 2 pairs ready for when I do. Custom made trouser belt covered in loop, to interface with some new FirstSpear outer belts I've got coming that have the velcro hook on the inside. Also a pair of 11.1v LiPos for the ASG Scorpion Evo. And OT, new rig (had my old PC for something like 6 and a half years, so I felt the time was good for an upgrade) came in about 2 weeks ago and I just hooked up the new monitor on monday. Won't list the specs right now as that'll fill up too much thread space.

    L96 SPRING UPGRADE

I am lead to believe they are TM l96 aws clones (according to ASPUK's webby) What you need to do is to measure the current Spring :- length, internal diameter, and external diameter

  16. PDi W-hold rubber, from Xfire. 4.40 euro. They had free shipping, and mine has begun to wear out and has been damaged(Left the gun in the damp, cold attic, with a little bit of mud, dust and water contamination ) I find it offensive that small cast chunks of rubber cost me 10+ euro,PDi ones are much more lighter on my wallet

I'd second the advice of leaving well alone unless there is a specific reason to upgrade, less is definitely more when it comes to "upgrading" AEGs. Definitely swap out the Tamiyas for deans tho. Also consider buying a second hand gearbox to upgrade and tinker with, teach yourself with that and when you have something that works well, drop it into your AEG. That way you always have 1 working gearbox.

  19. I own the 416D Devgru - Like others this is my first gun so have no basis for comparison. I had a few sensible minor upgrades carried out which takes the FPS on 0.25's to around the 340ish mark as well as giving me that little more distance I needed. The Sopmod batteries i've also had upgraded with larger capacity internal batteries - whilst they're not cheap, they fit as they should with no hanging wires etc. & have never had any failures. Whilst I don't skirmish as much as I would like too - the gun runs faultlessly time & time again, feels & looks great which was everything I was after. Price-wise I don't think they're that expensive, given the consistency & performance, now if we're talking about expensive I keep on eyeing up the Ares AMP DSR-1 V2 Gas Sniper Rifle at a bargain price of £900 - now that's expensive!

  20. Just speaking from personal experience. You pays your money you makes your choice. There are cheaper guns that shoot just as well as TM recoils at a fraction of the price. If you've got the money and you like the idea of a vibrating AEG, then go for it.

  21. Pain in the arse to tech?! The next gen v2 gearbox is so easy to work on when compared to a standard v2, the only thing you need to get to make it all very simple is a castle nut wrench to get the buffer tube off. After that the whole box goes together with no spring tension anywhere.

  22. Sounds like your hop up is dialled off for the feed issues. You do still have a nub in there and know how to set your hop up correctly? You can use any aeg bucking it wont cause the problems you are mentioning. Look down the feed tube in your magwell and dry fire the gun can you see the nozzle going back and forth? The grinding noise sounds like your mag unwinding in one hit which it shouldn't do if everything is ok with your hop unit.

    AK picture thread! :)

Unfortunately I'd have to disagree, as much as I love folding stocks and classic AK's I do also like some of the crane stocks that some specialist units are using at the moment

Agree with that I would never buy an ak that looks similar to an M4 in any way.

  26. My TM HK416 is my first airsoft gun, so cannot really compare it to other makes. However, I think it is worth the price; it is well built, feels solid (although some may think it a bit heavy but that is where a sling helps), the recoil is fun and sounds great on full auto. It has plenty of rails for attachments. Whilst the TM recoil magazines only come in two capacities, 82 BB low-cap (can switch them to real-cap 30 BB) or 500 BB high-cap. The 82 BB mags do not let the gun dry fire when empty as they hold the bolt back which is a useful feature. Large enough battery space in the stock, and taking advice I swapped out the sopmod battery for a 7.4V LiPo with deans connectors. If you like the HK trademarks, then some of the TM guns still have them, which is why they are not always advertised in stock. Being 285-295fps means there are no issues with playing at any site, and there are third party parts/suppliers (i.e. Eagle6) to upgrade it. I have my hop set for 0.25g BB and it is accurate but does not have greatest distance. Biggest decision is whether to buy the standard HK416D or the DEVGRU version.

  30. Yes, we get it. you'd rather everyone played airsoft in shorts and tee shirt so then everyone would always feel their hits. The rest of us just aim for legs or head or arms instead when someone's 'not hearing' the BBs hitting their kit.
