  9. 2nd AIF (2nd world war Aussie). Australian Imperial Force is an organisation created separately from the normal army (militia). The Australian Army was not allowed to operate outside Australian Territory by the constitution. The AIF was not the army so it was not bound by this rule but had to be entirely formed of volunteers. 1st 2 pics are early war. A mix of WW1 Australian gear and British gear. This is based upon pictures of Aussies during the early Libya campaigns Late war (jungle). By now the Aussies are working with Americans so you see American influences such as the lace up gaiters and I am using US HBT trousers, which the Aussies are known to have managed to obtain.

  11. I'm not sure about that- in my experience I've always found airsoft more painful than paintball at a normal skirmish level. I'm sure 'speedball' or whatever it is hurts more than normal paintball, but there's an equal amount of pain no matter what type of skirmish, be it a milsim or a normal turn up day. As well as this, BBs only have a few mm that hits you, meaning that over a joule of force is being transmitted to your skin in a very small area. In general paintballs seem to fly at a much lower velocity, and the low force from a paintball is felt in a much larger area. This means that the force from a paintball hitting your arm will be displaced over a larger area and the feeling will be less intense than a BB hitting you with much more force over a smaller surface area. A good analogy for this would be the cork board pressure/surface area link. If you took a pin and a bolt and applied the same amount of force onto the corkboard through them, the pin would go in and the bolt wouldn't. This is because the head of the pin has a smaller surface area than the face of the bolt, so more pressure is applied over a smaller area meaning less force is displaced.

  14. You can get a Nextorch WL10 illuminator for £39. I've heard they're great. NASH Airsoft did a review. There's also the Element SureFire replicas which I think are supposed to be pretty good. If I remember correctly they are only £25-£30 from Asia (but over here they will charge £50/£60 for em) The WL10 has a momentary on switch / paddle which is great or you can get a pressure pad for the Element SF flashlights. Try to mount flashlights as far up the gun as possible so it doesn't illuminate your handguard / barrel too much, use it in sort of short bursts, aim at walls / floor (can't remember exactly why but I think you will find it if you type flashlight tips into YouTube or something) Finally if you're right handed, mount the torch on the right. This is cos people are more likely to aim for the light they see and if it was on the left they'e be shooting at you whereas on the right they could be just missing you if you see what I mean.

Then they ask what I shoot and the obvious answer is 'people' because I love the reaction. 'oh...erm...right....ok'! Fair is fair, they are shooting at me

    Under 18 RIF. Please help!!!

Anybody can gift a RIF to you, but it has to be a gift - no money or services can be exchanged, so you couldn't give him £100 and he 'gift' the RIF to you, nor can you do some odd jobs and then get the RIF gifted to you. Unless your friend's dad is really generous I doubt he will gift a RIF to you. If you really, really have a big problem against two-tone / clear IFs then you could always use camo tape to cover the weapon at a game and then remove it before setting off home.

I am taking my AK104, 416, shotgun and glock IF I can get either the CYMA or G&G AIMS before the event, then ill replace the 416 with that Kit requirements are as follows for military: A team of veteran Ukrainian paratroopers many of which served in the 2012 Red Forest conflict. These soldiers have experienced some of the toughest and most hostile environments and feel no fear in the face of danger. Many of them know that this operation could be their last. If they do not die in battle, they will likely die from the radiation exposure. Clothing: Camouflage (Preferably woodland) Tactical and more regimented military attire. Body armour, tac-vests, chest rigs etc. Helmets, knee and elbow pads, berets, bandanas worn on the head. (For players who are unable to meet the outfit requirements and could be mistaken for a Stalker player, they will be issued with a blue/yellow armband to wear clearly on their right upper arm) Here is the link - https://www.facebook.com/events/645386572198291/ Other Info: Pricing for the event will be Members £65 Non Members £75 A deposit will be required to confirm bookings, the amount of this is TBC this does NOT include food, however food will be available all over the weekend with the menu TBC Camping/Sleeping will be either in tents or in E wing....

Was there last one - not sure how quickly ASG are pumping them out as AA are an official ASG importer and they had to wait about 4 weeks between the first and second order, so it's anyone's guess when they get more, or for me, more gas mags in (they have CO2) -- Edited to add linky

    First Aid

My original question and statements regarding tourniquets revolves around the fact I had been taught about them years ago, and haven't heard much about them since other than first aiders were discouraged from using them and they were no longer part of the any first aid training. Notice MMN that we haven't asked how to apply them, just about current thinking about their use and it appears they are regaining ground. They are still not part of the average first aid qualification. You may also have noticed in my previous post I mentioned my other pass times, kayaking, canoeing and hiking. In these are environments help won't necessarily be minutes away but potentially hours and the potential for severe traumatic injuries are ever present. Now I have found out from this thread there are additional steps I could take in the event that I ever encounter a life threatening bleed I will endeavour to look for someone to provide training that would allow me to use it confidently should the need ever arise. In no way are Ian and I suggesting we would rush out and buy a tourniquet set today and start applying them to people with a minor graze using information we have gained from an internet forum.

    BB weight

Or if you're running a support gun where a pot of ammo = 1 mag and lasts you a single game. Then lighter ammo is a lot cheaper, and the volume of fire makes up for most of the disadvantages of having less accuracy and range... But it's mostly a cost issue lol

    BB weight

Only exception to that really is CQB where engagement distances are 30-40' and there's no wind. In that environment a .20 is largely similar to a .25 in performance but cheaper.

    First Aid

Well Mr MN, I find you quite patronising and lacking imagination. Just because accidents and violence which result in heavy blood loss are not common events, that doesn't mean that I, or anybody else reading this, hasn't seen it happen, or been involved. Certainly blood has a way of seeming like more than it actually is and, if someone turns up when it is already on the ground (in the clothes, covering the hands, spattering faces, on the foliage, etc), it may indeed be difficult to tell 3L from 1L, however if even the dopiest person to ever wield an AEG came across somebody with bright red blood spurting out of a wound around the fingers of the desperate casualty, they would very quickly be able to tell that if blood is not prevented from spurting out quite soon, the casualty will die. It doesn't matter how much is already out, it's the rate at which it keeps coming out and the state of the casualty. If s/he has blue lips and grey skin, is out cold, and the blood is losing power in how far it sprays, it is clearly because no matter how much has come out, it is too much. At which point the urgency of the situation has gone from "Shit, I need to do whatever I fully understand to try to stabilise him/her until paramedics arrive," to "Shit, unless someone can tell me for sure that paramedics will be here in 3mins or less, we need to do whatever we can, because otherwise it won't matter." Of course it helps if you have picked up tips from healthcare professionals, like if you pinch the skin immediately above the biceps hard and there is no change in pallor nor slight reddening around the imprint when you let go, the casualty has dangerously low blood pressure (and that works on people with any skin colour), or if someone is unconscious you can find out if that is because they have passed out due to fear (erroneously referred to as 'passing out from shock'), or whether it has resulted from damage caused by the injury, by rubbing your knuckles hard up and down the breastbone - it hurts enough to bring you round if you can come round. If you can't get at the breastbone, you can stick your fingers into the armpit and squeeze the pectoral muscle with your thumb to get the same wakeup pain effect. Or my personal favourite for when performing CPR, "If you don't break at least one rib, you're not doing it properly!"

  33. If you go for an M1911, in the name of all that is sacred DO NOT buy the WE.......1911 style GBB pistols have poor enough efficiency due to the small size of the gas tank in the magazines (as they're so thin), and the WE has to push back a heavier metal slide as well, further ruining it's efficiency. The best bet for an M1911 would be a TM, as they're extremely gas efficient (lightweight plastic slide) and they have the magic all TMs have. And you can be proud you own a TM.

Got my self and a friend booked in for the 13th at the towers, can't wait, very excited. Got my self a Emerson helmet, bolle ballistic googles and a half face mesh mask. Wearing them all seems to irritate my chin and walking round the house makes the googles steam up. so gonna also bring my paintball mask just incase. So if u see sum1 with a Multicam mask and a renter gun, go easy on me

mesh lower face mask does the job for a decent price, plenty of ventilation, bend to fit face, no problems with talking or sound absorption... also for gum shields to be effective they need to be on both lower and upper teeth. but hopefully someone who has had them a while will comment...

Interesting subject Deek, I'm sure sites have to provide a bare minimum of cover under health and safety legislation and as part of their public liability insurance. I would wager the quality of what you may actually get will vary greatly. I actually carry a small amount of medical equipment in my kit, just in case. We play a physical game in a challenging environment and accidents will happen, be it a minor bump or scrape or something a little more serious. As with any activity of this kind, some basic first aid skills for all are never a bad thing. There are some pretty good videos on you tube showing accidents and injuries in airsoft, that should make sobering viewing for us all.
