AMD x6 Black edition running at 3.6Ghz

Asus F4 mobo

8 gb DDR3 ram

Sapphire HD 6950 2GB graphics card

Creative X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty

Tri screen set up, 2 samsung P2050, 1 Technike(used also for Xbox)

I do alot of animation and rendering so i spent a few months wages on the thing.

But still cheaper then if i was to buy a Pre-built intel quad core with half the ram

I used to.. but a couple of months after CoD4 came out, I got bored with that and BF2 started dieing so barely played since then. Even if I could still enjoy those games I think I'm too busy. I will be tempted by BF3, and if it is anything like BF2 then I may get addicted :P

There's always time for a bit of COD4 ;)

I played the BF3 Alpha Version and have to say it is amazing, certainly not a let down like some of the COD series ;)

I'm gonna have to upgrade my rig though lol, maybe crossfiring two 5770's will have it playing nicely :D

That's a good point, what is the min spec? I know I couldn't run BFBC2 max out so BF3 might not be geat..

Minimum requirements for Battlefield 3

OS: Windows Vista or Windows 7

Processor: Core 2 Duo @ 2.0GHz

RAM: 2GB

Graphic card: DirectX 10 or 11 compatible Nvidia or AMD ATI card.

Graphics card memory: 512 MB

Hard drive: 15 GB for disc version or 10 GB for digital version

Recommended system requirements for Battlefield 3

OS: Windows 7 64-bit

Processor: Quad-core Intel or AMD CPU

RAM: 4GB

Graphics card: DirectX 11 Nvidia or AMD ATI card, GeForce GTX 460, Radeon Radeon HD 6850

Graphics card memory: 1 GB

Hard drive: 15 GB for disc version or 10 GB for digital version

Looks like I need an upgrade, AGAIN ! :P

i stopped updating my desktop and went with a ps3 a few years back because it just got so expensive keeping up with the spec requirements so im hoping bf3 takes inspiration from bf2 as i miss pllaying that game so much better than cod !

anyone played the reality mod for bf2? that was good as well, they did a awsome job of making it realistic and teh british army loadouts looked great

I meet the min spec, but no where near the recommened. At least it will play as I don't fancy shelling out £200 for a card in the recommended spec range.

Yer keeping the pc up to date is the most costly part lemon, I bought mine less than a year ago now and I feel exhausted with having to try and keep checking the minimum specs and keep up with them!

I also own a ps3 however some games just feel like they need to be played with a mouse and keyboard :D

And dev yer we can play it but it looks like I'll have to decrease my normal 1080p with extreme graphics lol :)

I use Xbox for gaming, only games i play on PC are ones that i make in Unreal, or i just go for classic games like stronghold, Empire earth, Age of Empires and Shogun - total war(not so classic but still good)

Do you use the UDK?

I have made some maps in that and it's so cool, the way they implement all of the shaders and effects straight into their 'materials' and 'textures',

I also do a load of programming so having a good spec is important so I can keep up with the latest direct x and open GL :)

Also could you guys check out my thread ( Link Below ) please I feel like I could use some ideas from tech smart people :)

My PC is dead and I don't know enough about them to sort it out. It sucked anyway.

Think I might just save up and get a low end gaming PC, I would kill to be able to spend my spare time playing Battlefield 2's Project Reality mod, it's just the most awesome game ever.

Do you use the UDK?

Yeah, i use UDK, it is a brilliant, engine. although most of what i make and use i create in 3d studio max first then export over.

Only reason i got the computer i have, plus side about buying a high selc computer you know you dont have to worry about lookin gup the min spec for games...........although you do notice the same parts going cheaper and cheaper as each week passes which is more fustraiting

Upgrade due for Skyrim

  • 10 months later...

Built my pc with my bro from scratch around 4 years ago now.

Its more than due for an upgrade to be honest but I'm in the annoying situation that if I upgrade anything the motherboard needs doing. That means everything else needs doing, which means on top of graphics card(s), processor, ram and motherboard I will also need a new PSU. Anyway, that will be a project when I have around £1500 spare next year (hopefully) to do a rip out and start again with an awesome one.

Still running Skyrim on high so hopefully I can live a year with this one :P

1.86 GHz Intel dual core

3GB Corsair DDR2 ram

ATI Radeon HD 5700 series graphics card

500GB + 250GB Hard drives + 2TB external drive

ASUS P58 SE motherboard

Antec 900 Case

Blue modular power supply of some description

Samsung 24" monitor

Creative HS-1200 wireless headset

Logitech 5.1

Logitech G110 gaming keyboard

Logitech MX518 gaming mouse

Xbox 360 controller

Saitek cyborg joystick

Saitek R660 GT wheel

Then some other stuff like dvd writer, mousemat, usb hub etc.

To say its 4 years old, all I can say is: No half measures :)

I also have a Samsung R780 laptop which is a good spec for a laptop, I'll leave you to google that if you care enough :P

Anyway my current annoyance is: No quad core, no DDR3, no usb3, graphics is slowing on new games and the fans spike up massively on any cpu intensive stuff..

It's a lot more up to date than most! :P

Mine is around 4 years old now but will probably upgrade mobo/cpu/ram/gpu and add an SSD at the end of the year.
