but the best thing is having a motor bike engine on an old sheet in my front room in bits :) if my ex wife was still here, she'd be going nuts

Love it, I'm thinking of making a stand and putting my old Harley Ironhead Motor on display in the corner of my living room.

Liking the idea of boltcutters on a loadout, reminds me of that picture of a guy with a small ladder section on his back for peering over walls...

(asg mk23 socom, nine ball rail adapter, tactical flashlight & laser combo, Angry gun kriss vector 16mm to 14mm adapter, and a working airsoft silencer)

What do you mean, working airsoft silencer? The bb makes pretty much zero noise when it leaves the barrel I thought. Do you mean it muffles the sound of the internals??

so with aegs, gearbox screech.

With gas, you have the hammer hitting, gas releasing and bolt etc. with the mk23, it has no blowback, just a hammer so it is already quiet, and the silencer itself will dampen some bb sound and i'm guessing gas coming out of the barrel.

less moving parts = less sound generally, why hpa guns that use 1/2 solenoids are so quiet

Current phase of my Ikazuchi project. I was donated the JG StarDragon by a friend who had used it for cosplay. He actually thought it was the Poseidon original, but a quick glance showed it didn't have actual holes in the front and was the JG clone. The JG M4 inside it had broken, gear box shreaded/imploded (probably due to the 120% spring) and had damage to the trigger guard.

So far I've managed to remove the terrible paint job done to it by my friend and the underlaying JG crepe car dashboard rubber spray and silver paint, and give it a base coat of krylon fusion matt black (which has gone abit shiny in places from friction of use)

I inserted a TM High Cycle M4 in the place of the terrible JG. This required re-wiring the battery from solid stock to front, replacing the solid stock with sliding tube one, removing the RIS handguard and replacing the outer barrel with the one from the JG

Next steps are;

- Skirmish it more and see how it handles, feels good so far.

- Finishing installing a laser in the front section, just need to make some better internal mounting for it as having issues with the AEG battery pressing against it and knocking out of alignment.

- Building in a small torch into the bottom of the front handguard. I only need a very weak thin one capable of lighting the floor beneath my feet (so don't fall down the stairs in The Mall)

- Adding side rail on a flat panel

- Possibly building in the PEQ box from xcotech x3300w, if i can persuade a friend with decent electronic abilities to change the LED screen in it from a direct mount into the main board to a wired one. May just stick it on a side-rail.

- Might buy a better looking scope for it, but not too bothered as dont really use them.

- Might change the inner barrel to a shorter 20cm one like in the JG to prevent having to use the barel extension to use a tracer unit.

- Give it final paint-job, much more detail and some panels in a gun-metal-ish dark grey.

Kill it with fire!!

Hehehe that's the reaction i expect from most, as 'real-steel' is the ethos most people seem to prefer in airsoft. Personally i find that kind of pseudo-solderism hilarious.

May need to use a flame-proof final paint coat just incase!

I just prefer to look like i fell out of a teleporter rather than kicked out of a helicopter as surplus balast :)

Yeh to be honest it's not my favourite either, if i could pick any sci-fi gun for airsoft this would be quite near the bottom, but was the easiest place to start as a freebie. Any of the other kits made by Poseidon would have been much much better, but they don't ship overseas, or respond to poorly google-translated emails requesting collection via fedex lol.

I did consider a nerf-gun, and there's even some US dude whoose made pretty comprehensive guides on converting them, but they're bit too chunky for my liking, and they're not really sci-fi.

I looked at trying to make a phaser rifle, but found it suprisingly impossible to find a suitable model to start with. £500 solid metal casts of props was all i could find

My next project may be more appealing; a grenade launcher built into a replica of the EMP gun from the Dark Knight. So far i have the EMP gun, which is just a resin cast. It looks pretty box ugly, but its freeking batman so cool by default. However, i dont intend to dress up as batman to use it as i'm pretty sure i'd look more like Kickass in spandex :)

Hopefully in future i can revive my crafting skills enough to make a bodykit/conversion entirely from scratch.

Absolutely beautiful. Love a bit of sci-fi.

Well it's nice to see something completely different, even if it is a bit odd!

In my opinion it could do with a more suitably styled flashhider (something..pointy) instead of the suppressor, and a different grip. That one looks too 'm4'.

Shame the top of the stock is all bulbous as well, looks a bit out of place.

Kind of like the sight though, fits the theme.

The internals on the ASG mk23 are pretty quite being NBB. I mean it muffles the normal pop sound it makes from the expanding gas ... apparently very effectively or so i am told :ph34r:

I finally managed to find an inner barrel that'll fit, 208mm G3SAS. The JG stardragon came with a 195mm one, and the only other gun i can find listed that uses one is a UMP, and no-one selling in UK seems to have made a barrel for it. Some american company called Eagle did, but i cba to import one from the states when the 208mm G3 one will work, and that'll prob stop me loosing another 5-10fps lol. I'm expecting a drop from its current 280 @ 260mm to about 240-50 @ 200mm. This frees me up to put a flash-hider on it, and am trying to find something interesting, pointy would look good. Figure i've got until the spring to find one when i start heading out to woodland sites again and dont need the tracer unit.

For another sight I am considering a tubular red-dot with jagged edges, and possibly a similar torch on the side-rail once i've bolted it on. managed to find these, just deciding if i can be bothered to spend the dosh as they're both in the 50-80 quid range.

Agree the stock does give it a fat ass, seems to be a common theme with all the Seburo (&inspired) rifles. Unfortunately there's so many M4 out there that it's hard to find a stock that looks remotely unique and doesn't just make you think M4. Magpul style ones are a step in the right direction but i'm hoping to design and make my own. I could either fix some pannels to an existing stock or brush up the CAD skills and maybe make it my first dive into 3D printing... Still deciding, may just try modifying an existing one and if i come up with something good then maybe get it printed.

The original Poseidon kit came with a pretty cool looking grip, and i agree that def something that needs to be swapped to make it look less M4. Hopefully i can find one that looks similar to the Poseidon one. Have to admit to me that'll be the most daunting thing to do as I'm pretty terrified of setting the motors height/AOE correctly

I'm still also trying to decide whether to drill the holes out the front, or to just try keep the indents black while painting the rest of the panel dark grey, if i didn't get the painting perfect would look proper naff.

Trying to find them again, i'd waded pretty far into some US forums after seeing a couple youtube vids of the guns in action, 2004-5 this guy did it i believe.

If i kept browsing history be easy to find this, and measure my porn intake lol.

Will keep looking...
