I use the Halfords Camo paint as its fantastic quality and cheaper than the other paints you can get.

Depends on what you mean by woodland. The AK is the most "woodland" job i have done.

The halfords colours are quite limited. Its basically Tan, Brown, OD and Black. Krylon have 6 shades but i have not tried that paint as yet.

My advice would be spend alot of time getting the prep right.

Clean

dry off

tac cloth

paint in light layers.

To be fair and this may sound like advertising. But if you are not 100% confident in doing it then it is prob cheaper to get it done by someone that has done it before. Can work out cheaper. The paint is around £8 a can, plus the wipes, tac clothes and maskings etc. So a 3 tone paint job would cost around £35 and if you get it wrong its far harder to redo it.

The G&P aimpoint I had was crap! think M_P had one that was equally pants! The dot would turn itself off with the slightest knock.

Price wise would depend on if they are new or used and the condition etc.

I've used the halfords camo paints to spray a few things, great paint ( am a very experienced model maker over 20 years) camo effects can be found laying about your home for example onion netting or the little net wash bags Ideal for snake skin style camo, green scrubbing pads ripped to shape for a soft edge. Just practice on old pieces of wood or A4

For hard edge lines use low tac masking tape, even scrunched up newspaper can all be used to good effect also depends on which way you spray against certain items. If you want really fine detail you gonna need an airbrush . As someone said before use light layers and wait between layers, if you can hang up the part so you can get 360 angel on it to see and spray evenly, a light rub with a very fine wet and dry paper, wash part if you can, use plastic primer on plastic, you can even use johsons floor polish to seal it all in ( if you can find it now) it will leave part with a semi matt finish and will be be very durable ( am luckily enough to have half a bottle of this stuff). Just remember patience and practice

I got an Aimpoint in a swap deal with an AEG ages ago, it came without a box or anything so I've no idea who makes it, but it's a fantastic sight. Never turned off or anything, awesome fun to use once it's sighted in correctly on an accurate gun.

I've tried Krylon paint. TBH I don't think it's so much better than Plasti-kote that it's worth the extra money. But then again I haven't used specialist primers for particular surfaces. The thin layers thing is crucial with it though as it forms drips easily.

Has anyone used this brand of paint before?

Here's one of my on going projects, started off life as a G&G raider GBBR. The plastic body had to go way to much flex. So that went for a metal body, the naff two piece outter barrel set up went and a new one piece replaced it, next to go was the front RIS a nice new 7'' noveske RIS went on, upfront the sight is a vitor flip up, last thing to change was the stock, off came the crane stock and on went this sliding stock jobby, the only part which is left to change is the flash hider. All in all was a easy job to do hardest part was choosing which bit to put on it, just a couple of bit to go on front grip and a sight. I have a 552 sight but it don't look right, have seen a CAA fore grip I like the look of. So enough waffle here's the gun.

Trijicon? They build real ACOG sights.. so of course they're good. I'm sure our lads used them for a bit on the L85s in Afghanistan..
