Tactical Vest Upgrade

Currently I own a condor crossdraw vest (http://airsoftzone.co.uk/cross-draw-vest-condor) and while it was good for a while, it doesn't have any customisation options, as I need some pistol mag pouches and so on (MOLLE, which this is not.)

So i was looking for a new vest and saw the 8field AAV Platecarrier (http://www.patrolbase.co.uk/airsoft-rigs-plate-carriers-assault-vests/8fields-fully-loaded-rig-aav-fsbe-plate-carrier-system-black.htm) while i don't really want a plate carrier as you need to have inserts to keep the shape of it, it seems one of the only options available? Any suggestions or is that vest good?

Also, how easy is to customise a molle system rig?

You can find the same thing cheaper with just the stanag pouches...

I had something similar and it was okay, doesn't need plates and works more like a  vest than a plate carrier.

They are very easy to customise, just choose what pouches you want and they attach pretty easily.

What's your budget?

Have you looked at www.military1st.co.uk?

Well anything that'll be total cost (vest and pouches) below £100, but i don't really want to buy stuff off of ebay

Looking at military1st, this one looks quite good: http://www.military1st.co.uk/13530102-chest-rig-molle-expandable-mil-tec-black.html

I dont want to buy a rig for it to fall apart, the condor one is really good quality but just lacks the molle ability :/

There are soooo many molle vest out there just about everyone will have something different ;)

I went with a One Tigris plate carrier from Amazon. It's well build and has room for 3 mags on the front by default. I did add some other pouches for a couple of extra mags and a radio pouch on the back.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B06XP6HGG2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The only thing I would have preferred were if the molle was multicam rather than sand/tan. But that said I find it a good vest.

Edit: Also I'd say don't go mad on molle. When it comes to game play I didn't want to carry a lot. 5 mags does more than enough for my style of play. I like to keep the front and back as clear as possible too. So I can roll about unencumbered. Carrying more would only be advantageous where you can't return to the safe zone to resupply.

That looks good, only issue is the plates, how does it sit without the plates inside? I don't really like the idea of a bulky plate stopping you from bending down.

I mainly need some(4) M4  pouches or two double mag pouches, (4) Pistol Pouches, one grenade pouch and an admin pouch.

See my post for downgrading a plate carrier

I found that changing from a PC to a decent chest rig (OPS or BFG) was very liberating and allowed for customisation.

i Have a condor JPC and a miltec chest rig, use for different situations, in the plate carrier, i use these, http://www.halfords.com/workshop-tools/garage-equipment/garage-essentials/rolson-6-piece-floor-mat-set-120-x-180cm , cut down, one or 2 deep. perfect as not as thick as dummy plates, but rigid enough to keep shape.  plus the extras are good for target practice in the back garden.  With either setup i always have a belt with a couple of fast mags on there for pistol and m4, share the weight between upper and lower body, that also might help!  As for upper, 3 m4 pouches 2 grenade pouches and radio on the back.

If you're happy with the Condor build quality I wouldn't bother with a Mil-Tec rig. They're OK but they're not as good as Condor.

A molle chest rig will be more versatile in many respects and usually cheaper too. The Condor OPS Chest RIg http://www.military1st.co.uk/mcr4-002-condor-ops-chest-rig-black.html plus the bib attachment http://www.military1st.co.uk/221036-002-condor-mcr-bib-integration-kit-black.html is a decent price for what you get.

Seems like a good idea, looks like a nice vest too. Will look around a bit more but will probably get that.

I have that in green its superb.

Lighter than a PC, customisable all you want, I have stuck m4 pouches with pistols ones in front to leave space at the side for grenades and a speed loader etc.

For the money its great, you wont really find better for that price, besides how much abuse do they get? hardly much

I always recommend this site:

http://www.flecktarn.co.uk/odtmb2nx.html

Much better made than condor in all aspects, more PALS space, integral pouches, easier on/off with the split front.  Couple of quid cheaper.

Spend some time in the classifieds here or other forums/facebook groups and/or on ebay, you can get Warrior kit or even better for the same money.
