Hi There,

So, your new to airsoft and you want a gun... it is true that there is some kind of airsoft bug where you see/get one gun and want more, so the first section of this guide is gonna be on guns...

Weapons -

Airsoft is one of the few things in life where you get what you pay for, yes that means never being ripped off!

Before you go out/start browsing for your first gun... before you do anything your gonna wanna find your nearest skirmish site(s) there are several types of site; Woodland, Urban and CQB (Close Quarters Battle) what im trying to get is theres no need taking a a 1 and a half metre rifle into CQB or a 10 inch long submachine gun into a long ranged game such as woodland (unless its a secondary) But i just wanna get this clear:

DO NOT BUY A SNIPER RIFLE AS YOUR FIRST WEAPON... ITS HARDER THAN IT LOOKS, AND THE CHANCES ARE THERES ALREADY SEVERAL SNIPERS AT YOUR LOCAL SITE!

So im gonna list a few types of weapon to use at diffrent sites...

Woodland:

Your best bet is to get and accurate rifle, M16/Full Barreled M4's are a nice start and are readily available also any type of bullpup rifle (magazine behind the trigger) is a very nice start as they have a long barrel which will aid accuracy and are very compact lots of rifles will do, XM8's ACRs, TAR's, SA80's etc although these are hard to get hold of and you need a UKARA (see law section on this forum, or on UKARA's site) membership for a decent one... As a secondary you will be varying depending on your physical ability, for example if your short and young you dont wanna be carrying a shotgun almost as big as you around... as it will wear you out and if the guns scraping along the ground it wont help, but most people will be looking at handguns, so in any type of game your gonna want something reliable, like a Glock 18 they are small but arent too small and best of all most have a full auto feature... if your looking for a shotgun your gonna want something small... and mmagazine fed is good as fake shells are fiddly, lenghthen your reload times and to be frank get lost when you eject them from the gun...

Here are a few links to nice guns to use:

G&G GR16 (M4)

G&G RK47 (AK47)

SRC G36c

King Arms M4A1

Glock 18

HFC SPAS 12

Urban And CQB:

In urban and CQB your gonna be up close and personal with the enemy and the chances are its gonna be inside... your gonna want a short gun such as MP5's M4's with a CQB barrel AK74u's are also very reliable as a sidearm your gonna want a small sidearm such as the previously mentioned Glock 18 or something like a very small shotgun...

Here are links:

G&G

MP5A4

KWA CQB M4

Hybrid AK74u SU

Glock 18

With guns your gonna wanna be careful with build quality obviously full metal guns are gonna be the most durable but the heaviest... were plastic are gonna be light but will break easily... then you can get a mix of the two, which in my opinion is best a durable gun with a reasuring weight...

I hope you enjoyed reading this and feedback is appreciated...
