  1. Evening all, Just wondering what the concensus was on protecting your optic lenses from being shot out, is there a purpose made item out there for sale (to fit a RIS rail, in this instance) or, and these are always my favourite, what crazy, custom goodness have you guys come up with to protect them?
  2. Obvious questions; where did you get the foam from and what tools did you use to cut it? Because that's looks as quality a finish as any others I've seen!
  3. Ah I see that's where we see things slightly differently; walting and re-enacting through a faithful representation are different things in my view. Now, walting, I absolutely couldn't stand for. But yes, in reality there's no need for it, but for some it's part of the immersive experience; would you object to someone wearing a 101st Airborne Division flash on a 2nd World War outfit, for example? Is that as bad as a Para lid on a Goose Green outfit?
  4. I'll reword it slightly; I wouldn't be offended if you wore my Corps insignia if you were doing it with the knowledge of what you were representing. But, like I say, I may be in the minority being of that view.
  5. I'd like to think if your buying this kind of item you've got some idea of what it is your putting on your head and where it originates. Don't get me wrong, the seller is 100% the issue here, but I'd hope that anyone worth their salt spending (I'd expect quite a considerable) amount on a helmet to be aware of it's route to market. Unfortunately, there are still people rocking awful 6/6A's at formed Units, because there aren't enough of these (amongst other item's) in the system to do so, and it's definitely not helped by someone banging their kit on eBay at the end of their careers.
  6. Totally understand, but to have served in the Falklands you need to be getting on for 60 now; so assuming your a couple of decades younger than that, I'd be surprised if anyone called you out for walting by throwing on a maroon lid, but totally understand your reasons for not doing. A Beret/Unit Flash and Medals are totally different; medals I couldn't forgive (and you'd be surprised what's on eBay unfortunately) but a bit of insignia (especially of a conflict your age clearly suggests you weren't part of) I wouldn't say is an issue.
  7. Honestly, I wouldn't even mind if you did wear Regt Insignia or what have you if your just trying to be true to a specific era/Unit/Conflict. Start spinning dits about your heroics with the SLR on Mt Tumbledown and you'll likely upset a few folk, but I don't/wouldn't have any issue with anyone wearing insignia if they've researched and understood what it is there wearing and why.
  8. What's worse is it isn't a Mk7, it's a Virtus helmet and absolutely definitely shouldn't have been getting flogged on eBay. Even worse for buying it frankly...
  9. Hey all, So, I've a solid metal case which I acquired a few years back (see photo's) and I'm wanting to create some foam inserts so I've got a safe place to secure my modest selection (M4 GBBR and WE Glock 17) plus magazines (4 X 5.56 & 3 X G17). There is some foam already in there which I will remove, leaving just the foam that actually lines the box. Does anyone have any experience in a DIY foam cutout for something like this? I'm not overly concerned about it looking uber professional, just secure and organised. Essentially my questions are; what foam, and what tool for cutting it with? And any other snippets of info are appreciated! I am thinking the weapons themselves in the bottom portion, and a second layer in the upper segment for magazines, but need to work through the idea a little more thoroughly first! Additional thinking on a revised layout... Sight removed gives a little more space!
  10. Did I read that right, 11 Mags? Are you planning to invade anywhere nice?
  11. Okay, so I can't pretend to understand the tech involved here but I can totally see why the guy in the video (@Skara) is claiming that is full auto. Because that is a fast RoF, arguably too fast really, for that environment.
  12. Agree completely. Wouldn't even consider wearing a Plate Carrier for any activity without a Camelbak also, almost regardless of the weather conditions. It's amazing how quickly you can dehrydate on a day like today.
  13. And then go for the hero sleeves and you've pretty much got the whole look nailed down, right?
  14. Just seen an announcement that Alton Towers is to reopen on July 4th from today's developments. Good news for us, perhaps?
