Bit late to the party but I remember those days of first AEG, back in 2015 raiders were the choice then as well, I did however go for an ICS UK1R, still use it today, but played once since 2019 😂🤦‍♂️
My 14 yr old has played a game, due to age restrictions, couldn’t go sooner, and loved it, luckily though I’ve amassed a small armoury and wardrobe collection he is almost set but I feel your pain of duplicating most equipment 🙁, I’ve kind of all gone M4 base with the AEGs, even the G36 (ICS G33), takes M4 mags so atleast he can use my hi-caps 😂
 
just make sure he enjoys it, one thing I would recommend is radios for you both,  my worst fear was the ‘cease fire’ call and man down!, I was the only one moving looking for him with that parent fear something had happened to him….found him with another youngster and loads of big kids preparing to storm a building having the time of him life 😂😂😂🤦‍♂️

about £60.....but thats just clothing / accessories for my son...
 
he uses the rest of my stuff, i bought loads of 'generic' clothing i can wear for normal day use but i think only £12 on a battery so far that's airsoft's related that i can remember 

You can reach that point when you've got so many guns you don't use half of them even if you play on a regular basis. You spend easily hundreds if not thousands before you realize it though. 🧐

My son and I did the deed today and bought our first guns.
 
My son went for a Specna Arms SA-C19 Core Daniel Defence in Chaos Bronze.
I had my heart set on the Specna Arms SA-F02 Flex but after handling my sons choice it didn’t feel right. After trying a few different guns I picked up a G&G Raider mark 1 in long barrel. I know it’s old tech but I understand why they’ve been so popular, it felt really nice and solid. As I was buying two guns, batteries, etc he offered me a discount on the raider and I couldn’t resist…
 
They’ve been wrapped up for Christmas now otherwise I’d post some pictures.

Fire-Support have had loads of money out of me over the years (probably tipping into the several thousands now) and I've not had any problems. They are one of the oldest airsoft retailers in UK.

Didn't really pay attention to this as my old radios worked fine. Having bought 2 new Uv5Rs, i didnt read the description, even though it was in bright yellow (forgot my range anyway) so went ahead

seems they are locked out above 440MHz to transmit even if you do have the license, all my frequencies being over 440 it seems, you can factory reset them which on the 2 new ones has fixed the issue thanks to youtube but one of my old ones doesn't want to play ball.
 
So when you use chirp to upload the data, the PTT button will only beep and wont allow transmit after
 
anyone else had this issue recently? (assuming we are all doing this legally here!) 
 

I mainly picked these up for camping trips, hiking and pissing about in the shed but I'm sure I'll try them out in a game at some point.

On top of the mods list there are a few "semi-mods", myself included, that can ban accounts, specifically spammers & blatant scammers. 
The "semi's" don't get notification when you report spam threads, but rest assured we clear them as soon as we see them pop up in the "unread content" list. 

I’ve had a pair of Earmor’s now for about two years and they’re superb.  I particularly enjoy that when they knock out the bangs it doesn’t cut all the sound so you can still hear what’s going on
 
Sound quality-wise they’re a smidge ‘tinny’, and I’d definitely recommend switching to the silicone ear cups
 
They are very good for directional sound so you can hear where you’re being snuck up from, and battery life is very good too with a new set of AAA’s being needed ever fifteen game days or so
 

@Madhouse I'd keep the first antenna on it if you're going to use it on PMR frequencies.
 
If you're going to use PMR frequencies you should have a licence from OFCOM, unless your site or game organiser has their own licence to cover this. There is a thread on this:

They are rare. I've only ever seen one for sale; I bought it and had it modified to 14mm CCW to fit my GHK. Incidentally, I still have the original, unmodified 16mm CW barrel stub from mine - if you want that as a spare, or to put on another AUG or something, just drop me a PM.
 

 
It was done by cutting a Hephaestus steel outer barrel down - each bit is full steel, including the gas block.

British Army issue Virtus helmet (aka Revision Batlskin Cobra), mandible and visor. Good luck getting one cheap! While the helmet itself does pop up on EBay the other bits are rarer and, in reality, they shouldn’t really be on the surplus market as they’re likely nicked and classed as ACTO.

eh, i don't really see an issue with people wearing ghillies.
 
end of the day if you don't know what you're at then draping yourself in mock hedgerow is going to offer the square total of bugger all assistance to your ability be concealed in the same way that owning a gucci set of screwdrivers doesn't make you a top tier airsoft tech.
 
likewise someone who's gifted in the art of the sneak can become invisible almost entirely regardless of their choice of attire.
 
this to me is separate from the other issue with ghillie wearers, to wit, the insistence of ankle armbands or other such lacking of identifiers. if the rest of us mere mortals are gonna have to wear a bright red armband to distinguish friend from foe then there should be no exceptions.

Have you seen the new army training place, was on BBC click today but has been on before…. Wouldn’t mind trying it out 😂
