  1. Personally, I ain't got no issues with codsofters at all. Ok so they're weapons look aweful and sometimes they don't really know the rules BUT we all started somewhere. That aside a lot of the time I admire they're attitude. They have that raw niavity which guarantees that they will enjoy they're day no matter what. A lot of the time where I play it's them who do a lot of the running around and break up any stalemates. On the subject of running, on average they are a lot lot fitter than most of us and this is they're greatest advantage. While we are sat at desks Monday to Friday, these guys play football in the school playground. They also weigh up to 3 times less than us and have not had 2 decades worth of fry up/cigarettes/Booz. The end result is most of them can run the pants off us. Call me a fool but surely a kid with a rental is more deadly than a fat bastard with a systema??? Last year my team picked up 4th of 12 teams at the annual billericay woodland competition. My team were absolutely nakered by the end few games but the kids were running around like we had just started. They actually won the entire tournament with an average age of about 11-12. I'd be worried if these guys started taking it seriously as the rest of us would struggle to keep up with these light feet fairies lol Hope more of em join the game overall :-)

  6. Worst I've had with a codsofter was when his wee kid (probably about 12) came up to me and asked me what gun I was using. *enter codsofter* CS: hey, uh, what gun are you using? Me: This? It's my CYMA MP5K. I got it fo--- CS:*butting in* THAT'S NOT AN MP5K! Me: You what? CS: The MP5K doesn't have a single vertical foregrip built in! < The model that I assume that he was on about: http://images.wikia.com/callofduty/images/archive/6/65/20120120043427!MP5K_menu_icon.png > Me: *getting increasingly angry* It CLEARLY does. CS: DUDE! I use the MP5K in Modern Warfare and--- Me: *cutting him off* So, what you are saying is that because you play Call of Duty, you are a weapons expert? CS: That's not what I said Me: you heavily implied it CS: Anyway, I don't really care. I just wanted to know where you got your Kipras < COD sprite for the above gun: http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120106122608/callofduty/images/5/59/ELITE_Kiparis.png > On a sidenote, MY MP5K LOOKS NOTHING LIKE THAT FOOPING GUN!

  7. In September, I was paired with a young lad, maybe as young as ten (parents were on site and in the game) and he was brilliant! He listened to me when I was communicating to him, he made a few good suggestions....he even took down a guy with an m60e with a Cyma mp5 hire gun! He lay down cover fire and didn't rush in like an idiot....wasn't even my son and I was still proud haha!!! Only had one bad experience with a Codsofter. He had a bright green m4a1 (SRC I beleive) and he wouldn't take his hits....even if it was painfully obvious that he had been hit from only a few feet away. Needless to say, most of the hires were lads on a stag do....the Codsofter suffered afterwards! He became the objective for every mission. Marshall: 'Ah right lads, you're aim is to defuse the bomb in under ten minutes' Stag members: 'No, we're going to kill that little shit with the green rifle!'

  8. Just curious and its a subject I love talking about. This kid thought my hire m4 was an m16 because it wasn't s-system.

  10. In terms of actual blank firing grenades its possible to get cheaper than the Dynatek. Wolfarmouries do one at £63 (no idea if its any good of course: http://www.wolfarmouries.co.uk/airsoft/bb/product.asp?page=product&id=BFGXOD) and Oh shi booms can be bought for around £65 as well (http://uk-airsoft.myshopify.com/collections/accesories/products/oh-shi-boom-impact-grenade-black-shot-gun-primer). Personally I would spend more on the TRMR (landwarrior has them, other places presumably do as well) because they don't have a pin to loose and they are faster and easier to reload. But if price is the concern there are cheap (around £60-70 instead of £85) BFGs out there.

  11. Well I've completed my upgrades on this DTW which it is now fully working. As my review said upgrades with this as standard is a must and unavoidable. Its had the following dropped in E-tiny electrics full set PTW Barrel PTW hop chamber Systema air nozzle part B Systema air nozzle guide Part A Systema piston head & piston systema spring systema spring guide before this it didn't fire straight and was 302Fps on chrono its now 340Fps with very accurate. Personally I wish I had saved another £180 on top of what I'd already saved and bought the Celcius DTW would have saved myself some money.

  15. Systema PTWs are expensive for two main reasons in my opinion- Brand name & production cost. Brand name- Because Systema. The yank speshul farces use it for training so that adds to the value. Systema used to dominate the aftermarket upgrade market (But no longer because it's overpriced and the price/quality factor is sh*t for most systema stuff) So their name is associated with quality (That has changed recently) Production cost- The PTWs use planetary gearboxes. These are very complicated gearbox systems. Expensive so produce as they require good material quality and very good production quality. You can't just roughly sinter them like most AEG manufacturers do,they have to be molded then machined to specification. The PTW bodies are also forged and then machined. Forging and machining is very expensive in airsoft, due to the lower production volume and demand. Since Systemas are also real steel dimension ed they have to conform to some sort of standard however low it may be. And finally,Systemas are made in Nippon, where they actually pay their workers. If you are prepared to upgrade you can turn any gun into a PTW killer. It's the real feel and dimensions you can't really get with an AEG that you can with a PTW.

  16. Thought id start this fire once again. I play at xsite alot, amazing site and great staff. However my heart broke when I found this. Not taking hits, silly hand gestures, constant showing off in front of the camera, blind firing. Urgh This is also one of the reasons I will never buy an AEP

  21. They have gearboxes that are much more advanced than normal gearboxes, they never miss a shot and have instant trigger responses. Plus they use interchangeable cylinders which means you can change the fps within seconds. They are 1:1 scale in terms of weight and detail. They are advertised to be training weapons used the the military, so obviously, milspec is a selling point and an excuse to jack up the price by 5 million.

  23. Had a very casual game today. Forgotten all about it this morning thou! Have a sleep in, get up, see the text message, "damn", throw battery on charger, decide for uber casual kit, get dressed, grab nearest highcap, fill with bbs, grab akm, drive, 2 hours late: "why are you ALWAYS the last one to arrive??!", excellent games and superb weather! (minus scarf.. and kneepads are hidden under shorts) (little hello to Swedish Goverment FRA who looks at all pictures uploaded in Sweden, presumably searching for militant group that does not exist or upload pictures. not the best looking smiley, but don't think they mind.)

    Customs Advice

My last gun sat there for 5 weeks before they sent me a letter asking for proof of value and proof of my defence. Took another 2 weeks and about 10 phone calls to get it released after that. Good luck!

  28. For me, a shedload of glowsticks and some blue force gear tenspeed pouches. Good shout mack, you won't be disappointed! remove the quick change battery rubbish immediately though, wire it to deans and use 7.4v LiPo, cheaper and MUCH better trigger response.

  30. Aww mate I know try Mountain biking. When I first got into it you could go out on a halfords special wearing overalls & two oven gloves & no one would bat an eye lid, Nowadays the X5 bunch have appeared. now it's gone like skiiing, blokes with mirrored glasses clad in Kevlar posing at trail centres.......a bunch of tossers. I love going on my 6 year old hard tail & kick their arse because they have all the gear & no idea. It really gets on my nerves.

  31. For real Elitism and snobbery, join an Archery Club. There are people in there that won't talk to each other because they use a slightly different bow string!
    1 point
  32. Agreed, there's a definite undercurrent of elitism on here and on every airsoft forum really about so called CoD softers. They're just kids who get a bit excited about getting to hold guns and shoot at people. Only time it should ever be a problem is when they cheat, e.g. "I'm on last stand" etc. Really though, get over yourselves guys, you run about in the woods dressed like a soldier and shoot people with a BB gun. So do CoD softers, they just get excited about it for a different reason.

  33. My son who was 13 at the time recieved a bright orange l96 rifle complete with scope/bipod for xmas, it was just because he wanted to shoot targets in our back garden. Which turned out to be really fun, at the time I never heard of airsofting and I'm not sure he did, but after researching about his gun and a few others we found a site close to us and i took him for his bday. Both of us loved it, we did use his rifle i think for one game but realised it wasnt as fun as using the sites aeg's also it drew a few under the breath comments and snickers from the sites regulars so we left that in the car for the rest of the day. We were both buzzing after the day had finished. Needless to say 9 months later we attend that site once a month, i bought us decent weapons and army surplus kit to use, and I take a couple of his school mates with us, theres usually quite few kids on site some regulars and some that are just there for a bday or something. I do hear cod/bf3 mw2 mentioned a lot but thats just kids having fun. My point after all this is let the kids and there dads enjoy the day the way they want too, I'm forever helping some kid reload bb's or get dirt out of his muzzle or just generally pointing them in the right direction. This snobery I see onsight from the regulars/members towards some kids/ppl because they got cheap sh1t equipment and no clue how to use it annoys me, cast your minds back to when you first started and think how it was. I love it when i hear kids all buzzing about something they did or saw ingame, by the way that bright orange sniper rifle is now fully upgraded and shooting regular at 480-495fps with a matte olive colour paint job, it looks the part and shoots the part.

  34. So what's your beef, that their parents can afford to buy them £2,000 PTWs? If so, dry your eyes and move on, there's always someone with more money/better car/fitter wife. Be happy with what you've got and plan for what you want to get, ignore those who have greater means, theirs or those they're borrowing from others.

  37. Also I am starting to realise that there are many different types of airsofters. Airsoft ticks a number of boxes for different people but the Airsoft gun is what binds them together. For example, there is a group of airsofters who don't really see it as anything to do with war or the military. Its just a game like playing tag. They know nothing about the guns they carry and they are looked upon as a fashion accessory. Others like to dress in authentic BDU, others like tactics and so on. There is nothing wrong with these different variants, but they can be quite different. These groups overlap in places but not totally, so you get splinter groups who want different things. I guess what happens is that this evolves so people gravitate to the site that gives them what they want. The problem starts when people want to have a serious tactical game but you have people, often kids, running round with orange guns charging everything down. This is often used by the serious regulars as target practice. Does it matter providing everybody enjoys themselves and nobody gets hurt ?

  38. The problem is I suspect that many of the players you are talking about are young people whose first introduction is via gaming. If you are reared playing games like COD, your reality is warped. When I was a child, many, many years ago, we would play war, based on largely WW2 movies that we saw on TV. 30-40 year old films denoting Audie Murphy charging Japanese MG nests in the Pacific. (At least he had really been to war). We would run around a field or park with invisible guns making machine gun noises and if your mate didn't lay down when you shot him, you made damn sure he went down. Now technology allows children to play with a variety of deadly weapons in gaming and remotely kill hundreds at a time. No hand to hand combat, no staring your opponent in the eye. Is it any wonder, they take this attitude on to the Airsoft field. Generally, Ive found young players to be pretty good but they really have no idea about fieldcraft, tactics, stealth and real life. Why should they - they are 12 or whatever ? They stand, talking loudly, usually next to where Im hiding and they generally enjoy themselves. The problem is when their behaviour starts to encroach on you enjoying yourself. The answer ? Either try to educate them by setting examples and explaining what they are doing is wrong or play somewhere else where there are less children. Unfortunately, the site owners need their parents cash. Are there any adult only sites ?

  39. Hah, I once heard a story of a kid who would only accept he was 'dead' if he took 3 hits, because 'that's how it's like in call of duty'

  41. Back when I used to run my LSW a lot, I had a few younger players asking me why I "wasn't using it with a drum clip like I should be, that's how it is in MW2". After Black Ops, I've been told a few times when using my L85 that I need to "stop using that Enfield, the famous is much better" Then there was the genius who evidently played the scuba TF-141 missions a few times too many. Despite being in the middle of a wood on the outskirts of Sheffield, he turned up to the site in full scuba gear. In the middle of summer. Play started at 9.00. He was back in the safe-zone, almost completely dehydrated and exhausted by 9.25.

  43. Last month, some kid thought that he would spawn kill to help his team "win". We spawned, he spawn killed, we spawned, we wasted, he fell to the floor, he raged. The end (Btw, he bought bulldog .12's with him)

  44. A bunch of paintballers walked into the safe zone, I over hear afew of them talking about the guns that they could see, one of them says "Oh my god that's the ak47 from modern warfare 2" he then walks up to the guy with the AK and asks: "do you know what gun that is" the guy with the gun in question replies "Yes, it's an ICS AK74." "No, that's an ak47" I cringed, hard.

  45. Oh Gawd yeah that! That pisses me right off, there are times when I am loud and there are very good reasons for that, I call out targets I spot that others miss especially when I know I haven't got the sight lines for them. Sometimes I do it when I'm totally on my own just to make the opposition think I'm a bigger group worked quite nicely yesterday. But you don't go noisy until there is no doubt they know you are there. That's when aggression and noise can help cause confusion. I think those headsets they use make them think they can chat away while trying to move through an area as they forget those are simulating radio's in the real world. But then again its not just gamers that do that. I was playing a VIP game with 4 teens that had met through cadets, I was with a german guy ( ex german army Sargent) and these 4 trying to make our way from one end of the site to another, they didn't understand being quiet, or that sticks/leaves/bushes crackle and not to touch them. Safe to say myself and the german lasted a lot longer than those 4. Very frustrating. My favourite saying from a friend of mine.... "common sense is not so common".
