Patches shop?

Hi all, (sorry if in wrong place)

I have noticed that when people ask about Patches they generally go to http://www.stitchmeup.biz/ however from what I have taken on, you need to order quite a few, which can be expensive if you just want one or two

I’m looking to make patches but would need significant interest from people such as you if I decide to take on this venture.

So, could you please let me know below the following:

1- Would you buy hand made/customised patches (designed specifically to what you want)

2- How much would you happily pay for them individually

3- Would you prefer ordering few or many

4- Would you pay to have your patch fully designed to your liking, if so how much?

Yes

Around £8-£10

If they are customised then a few

I am Cheap therefore around £10 designed and made!!

However!!

I cannot see a huge market for individual patches. I have had some made from stich me up but these were for me and my mates to wear, not individual or designed ones.

There are faaaar too many patches already out there and I have never wanted one particularly that was not readily available.

Thanks for your feedback, I know there are many patches available but some people (like me) wanted my own thing. So I made my own. Plus teams may want something completely new and unique.

But thank you anyway

Oh I get what your saying, im just saying it may not be a viable business idea as the market for unique patches would be a very small and as you mentioned having a very small number of patches made would work out expensive.

Unless you have a way to design and make unique patches very cheaply and it still be viable for you to do so then go for it. But I can imagine it will be worth the time.

True enough. But im only doing it as a hobby rather than a cash cow. But I do understand what you are saying

Show us some pictures.

I will be (brutally) honest! Stich me up are recommended because they are very high quality production with expensive machinary. I would be dubious about a one man band hobbyist being able to produce desirable results.

But of course its not impossible. Put your miney where your mouth is and show us the goods.

I requested a quote from stitch me up for a team patch, sent off the design (Rez evil style) and within 5 minutes I had a digitised patch mock up sent to me with a quote. No bulk buy either just a quote of £8 each and £2.50 delivery. Just I. Process of sorting out a couple more members then will buy enough for the team.

Was also told that the file I sent off did not need any rework (apart from changing the font as original was a stencil style that wouldn't stitch very well)

They say sometimes peoples images require a few hours of rework before they can digitize it so if you can, make a good quality logo and they can work from it straight away and can also send you a mockup of what it looks like.

I have just recently purchased a patch from Stitch Me Up and their service was absolutely perfect. There are no minimum order requirements. I ordered one patch and that wasn't a problem! Arrived a couple of days later.

I'm definitely going to buy from them some more as there isn't anywhere else that can beat them so far. I'd definitely recommend it!

It says on their website that they specialise in small orders in contrast to bulk orders.

Ended up costing me £7 including tracked delivery! The patches are amazing quality.

Having worked as a machine embroiderer I can tell you that a decent embroidery machine starts at about 10k, why I never continued when I left my job at Rolls-Royce. The main bulk or your time would be spent reformatting images through software for stitch direction. If it's not done right you end up with long stitches and damage potentially to your machine as well as bad looking embroideries. I think there is also additional machinery and materials needed for patches in order to seal them from behind. If you can afford the initial outlay then it would be a great thing to get in to though!
